Story
Pearl’s Journey—From the Shelter to Surgery and Now Healing Pearl is approx 12-14 year old shih tzu mix weighing in at 6 lbs. She was rescued from a kill shelter and released to us early due to her condition. It truly feels like divine timing—just in time for us to rush her in for emergency surgery. She was suffering from pyometra, a severe and often fatal uterine infection caused by not being spayed. Her chances of survival were slim, but our girl is a fighter. She made it through surgery and is now home recovering. If you listen closely to her video, you’ll hear her whimpering—she’s still in a lot of pain, but we’re keeping her pain meds on schedule to keep her as comfortable as possible. While under, she also had a much-needed dental. A couple of teeth had to be pulled, but she still has plenty left to flash a little smile. 😁 Pearl will need daily eye medication for the rest of her life, but that’s a small price to pay for the life she still has ahead of her. We’re so incredibly grateful to everyone who donated and helped us save her. She is now looking for a full time lap to spend the rest of her years. Please no small children in the household Her adoption fee is $250

Story
Meet Our Sweet Shih Tzu Girl! This adorable girl name Fergi is estimated to be between 5 and 7 years old and weighs just 10.5 pounds. She’s mostly potty trained, walks well on a leash, and is crate trained—but she’ll happily hop right into bed with you if given the chance! At night, she may make a little noise in her crate, but she settles beautifully when snuggled up beside you. We made every effort to find her original family, but no one ever came forward—not even at the shelter. Now she’s looking for a forever home that will never let her go. She’s fully vetted, heartworm negative, and spayed and microchipped . if she ever gets lost again, there will be no doubt where she belongs. She’s gentle, loving, and the perfect little companion. Could that be you? Adoption fee is $300 https://chloespetrescue.org/application

Story
Ziggy was rescued into RHS on 2/22/25.  He is approximately 8 years old and weighed 15 lbs.  He was severly matted and was in need of help.  He received medical care and was shaved down at the same time.  He lost almost a pound of matted hair and dirt.  You can tell he came from an extended neglectful situations.  He has come so far in the last few weeks and he is a different little man.  He is working on going potty outside and is doing an exceptionally good job.  He walks on leash with some hesitation but improves gradually.  Car rides are good for him.  He likes his crate where he takes his afternoon naps often.  He has no issues with the 2 female dogs at the foster home.  He didn't hesitate to get a scratch from a young boy.   Overall, Ziggy is a quiet boy but gets excited whenever he was given a treat.  He is a great lap dog.  He needs someone who is patient because he is missing an eye and is partially blind in the other.  It won't slow him down at all once he learns your home and routines.  He is a wonderful dog with lots of love to give.   Here's how to meet Ziggy: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. APPLY HERE: www.richardsonhumanesociety.org ##2312837##

Story
This is what we’ve learned about Mello so far: 🐶His name is so fitting...he really is a mellow pup 🐶 He loves stuffies but could care less about balls 🐶Picks up on routines quickly, likes car rides (prefers to be up front and naps) 🐶 Walks well on a leash and not reactive to other dogs/people 🐶Housetrained (no accidents or chewing) 🐶HATES the crate and behaves well when left out at night in the bedroom of his person 🐶Very independent and likes to try things without help 🐶Favorite thing is to be close to his person💕 🐶 Does NOT bark unless in the crate/playpen (much worse in the crate) Owner surrendered to the shelter, very sweet but very confused. Story
My sister and brother-in-law had her for about 5 years. They needed to rehome her so I took her. I've had her for about 1.5 yrs. I Now I would like to rehome her bc I don't know how to control her. She is really a loving dog most of the time and wants to be the center of attention. However, I believe she has some anxiety and doesn't know how to relate. She wants to be petted a lot but will snap at people in the middle of them petting her. She is very jumpy and gets surprised by a blade of grass moving in the yard. I want to go visit family but don't want to take her and don't have the financial means to board her. I believe she would do very well with an older couple or single person with little activity going on.
