Story
Duchess is redefining what it means to be ladylike. She sits when asked, but also falumphs herself down where she pleases. She shlops and splooshes her water when she drinks, and loves her food so much she lays down and hugs her bowl while she munches. At night, you might hear some snoring coming from her crate, but that’s the most vocalization she’s done since her arrival. And her matching socks on all 4 paws make her look quite proper! Duchess is polite to other dogs, but some larger ones make her nervous. She is working on remembering her potty training skills in her new environment and is making progress in just a few days. This lady will thrive in a quiet and patient home. If you look into her eyes and see your next soul dog, know that she has few requirements: treats and a soft place to lay, preferably next to a snuggly human. Duchess is estimated to be 6 years old and 68 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting. We are also holding the following upcoming adoption events! Please note: All dogs/puppies will not be at every event, and some may find their home prior to the event. If you are interested in a specific animal, please check our Facebook page for confirmed attendance the morning of the event: https://www.facebook.com/safehandsrescue/ You do not need to have a Facebook account to check the Safe Hands Facebook page for attendance. Hi! I’m Paulie! I’m very wiggly because I have so much excitement I cannot possibly hold it all in, I’m soooooo happy to meet you…and you and you and you, I love everyone! I’m what my foster family calls a neck nuzzler, it’s the most significant thing to know about me. Mainly it means that I want to love you, and I want you to love me, and I perfect to exchange and express that love by nuzzling right into your neck, real close. I really like my foster adults but I’m also fond of foster kids, many neck nuzzling opportunities! Now, to find my own family, do you know anyone who might need some neck nuzzling? Or at least be open to it?! Paulie is estimated to be 11 weeks old and 10 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. Say hello to Jolie, the sweetest pup around! This little girl is an absolute ray of sunshine, spreading happiness and joy wherever she goes. Jolie is a bright, curious little explorer who’s always up for an adventure and will charm you with her playful and friendly nature. She loves romping around outside, checking out every leave and stick, flopping in the grass and rolling around and greeting anyone she sees. She’s quite the social butterfly and believes everyone she meets is a friend, both human and canine. She enjoys playing with other friendly pups. She’s such a happy go lucky girl. When it’s nap time her first choice is to snuggle up on your lap or right next to you but if she’ll also happily settle for her comfy dog bed. She currently stays in an x-pen when no one is home and sleeps there at night (although she’d love to share your bed!). Jolie is 9 weeks old and weighs 8 lbs. We do not know what breeds are in her genes and breeds are just a guess! All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Story
Welcome Honey to CCPAL foster Program. Honey is a 3 year old Boxer mixed dog. She is potty trained. We think Honey survived the flood in Kerrville. A good samaritan has taken her in and is giving her good nutrition and love until we find her forever home. She was really scratched up and had a wound on her front left leg. She will be spayed soon and she is going to the vet again for a follow up on her leg. Our guess is it may have gotten broken and healed back on it’s own due to what she has gone through. She is good on a leash, very loving and bonds deeply. She lives with 5 cats right now but she is much too interested and we feel her best home would be without cats. She loves all people and no one is a stranger. She is good with dogs her size and is an energetic girl. Her best home would be with an active and ourdoorsy family that wants a great companion to join them in their outdoor fun. She is looking wonderful and filling out nicely in her new foster home. She lost some muscle around her bum area due to the length of time she was without food. Despite this, she would make an amazing family pet. She would love to be the only dog and be the center of her families attention. She weighs about 40 pounds and is a taller dog but medium weight. She is great in a car and would make a great dog in settings where lots of people are around. She is lower in shedding. She will be getting spayed soon and ready for her forever home. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Betty is a petite, sassy, loving 8 year old boxer mix that LOVES her people. She is the kind of dog that will follow you from room to room as you go about your day. She'll lay at your feet but would definitely prefer to be on the couch.   We don't know much about Betty's history other than she likely had a rough go of things for a while. She was very skinny when she came into rescue and the fur on her haunches and belly was stained yellow. She is now living her best life in her foster home, getting all of the love and food she needs.   While Betty can coexist nicely with other dogs, her foster mama thinks she'd prefer to be an only dog as every now and then, she can get a little salty with the other dogs in her foster home. She also prefers to meet dogs on her terms only. She does do very well with dog-savvy cats and kids. She has been making notable progress with her potty training, especially when she's on a schedule. Betty does perfectly fine in her kennel at night and when her foster family is away from the home.   If you're looking for a chill adult dog that will only ever ask you for love (and treats), Betty is your girl. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $175.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 30, 2026, 10:17 am

Story
Hi there, I’m Boomer Jr., but my foster mom calls me Boom! I’m about a year old Boxer mix and a total lovebug. I made my way to Minnesota all the way from North Carolina after a hurricane so the shelter there could help more pups in need. Now, I’m ready to find my forever home!   I’m the good boy—fully potty trained, kennel trained, and eager to learn. I’ve already mastered "sit," "lay down," and "get down," and I’m super food-motivated, so teaching me new tricks will be a breeze. I love making doggie friends, especially bigger ones, because sometimes I forget my size and play a little too hard with the tiny pups. I would need a home with another dog because I love to play!   I’m also great in the car—I’ll just curl up and relax while you drive. I do get a bit nervous around new people and might bark or growl at first, but give me a treat or two, and I’ll be your best friend in no time. Because of this, I’d do best in a home without small kids, as sometimes I am anxious.   I’m a playful guy with lots of energy, so a fenced yard would be perfect for me to zoom around in. I love my toys and love antlers and bones to chew on.    If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and fun companion, I’m your pup. I can’t wait to meet you and start our adventures together!    Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
The 90lb Gentle Giant of a Lap Dog: Meet Uggie Uggie is a 90lb powerhouse with the soul of a teddy bear. A classic American Bully with a "daunting" look, he’s actually the world’s worst watchdog—he’d sooner show a burglar the treat jar than bark. He truly believes he’s a lap dog and craves constant physical contact. If he isn’t leaning against you, he’s snoring so loud you’d think a lawnmower was starting up. Personality & Skills: Gentle Giant: Bell-trained, knows "sit," and very quiet. The Surgeon: Can extract a toy squeaker in under 10 minutes. Eager Learner: Highly treat-motivated and thrives on a schedule. The Ideal Match: Uggie is strong and powerful, requiring an adopter experienced with big breeds. This is a heartbreaking choice driven by health and financial changes; he deserves a home that can provide the care he needs. We love him deeply and need someone who will cherish his big heart and "Bully snores" just as much. Is your lap (and heart) ready for Uggie?
