Story
Energetic, loving, and goofy 9-year-old Ella is super sweet but needs a family with an experienced dog owner. A little under 2ft tall and 40 lbs, she's sleek and muscular. Ella is fully house-trained and very patient with the three cats she lives with. She's never lived with kids but is generally chill with the children in the neighborhood.
She loves her toys, playing fetch, tug of war games, following you around the house, and of course, napping. Ella wants to be involved in whatever you're doing and is alert to someone coming to the door. She is highly food motivated, Ella picks up new tricks quickly but can be stubborn and easily distracted, so she needs lots of consistent positive reinforcement to maintain behavioral changes. She has many opinions and she will let you know about them.
Ella also plays well with other dogs, although sometimes she has issues with dogs larger than she is, but is good at de-escalating potential conflicts. Ella really loves company so if her new people are gone for a full work day she will need a canine companion. She's leash trained and always excited to jump in the car to visit the park. Ella is a great dog looking for a home where she is loved and cherished. Would you be the one for her?" Ella is now being fostered in Oakland, CA and her adoption fee is $275.00 Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great gal or for an application to adopt.

This little girl has all the energy and spunk you would expect from a puppy. And such a personality! Nomad loves to run and play....chase, wrestle, play tug-o-war, and leap like a gazelle. She loves her sister Gypsy, and loves people. She wants to be wherever you are, and is up for whatever you are doing. She is a puppy, which means she will need to learn how to behave in polite society....which she will quickly master. Nomad is an intelligent, playful, beautiful little pup. She is here at the sanctuary just waiting to be discovered and taken home. If you would like to know more, come meet her, and hopefully take her home, call the sanctuary in Willits at (707) 459-4900.

Story
Our fosters say it best: I don't say this lightly but my current foster dog, Hershey, is the easiest foster we've had. I think he's our 54th foster so this is huge!! He is a sweet 6 month old Staffie mix. Medium size. His colors / markings are stunning . He is super friendly to everyone: people, dogs, cats (just a brief exposure to my cat but he was completely unreactive) He has a perfect energy level. Zoomies, couch potato, walk, repeat. He's a great sleeper. He's sleeping through the night in his crate but I bet he would love to sleep on your bed if that's okay with you. . He does still have puppy tendencies including trying to eat things he shouldn't but is easily redirected. We estimate him to be about 60+ pounds at maturity.

Story
Pretty girl Ziah is a fantastic find! This young girl already has some useful skills: she knows sit and fetch, comes when called, and has great social skills with other dogs (even the pushy ones). Ziah is a bundle of energy, but a good workout and some mental gymnastics go a long way to keeping her focused. Family Dog 1 will be a perfect launch pad for you and Ziah, where bonding is key and good manners are gold.Ziah is cool with other dogs, polite and even a little playful. She likes to choose her playmates and knows how to tell those that need not apply how to back off without making a thing out of it. She seems to prefer playing with her people, which is great. Ziah is ready to be your new bestie, hiking, playing, snuggling and hanging by the fire at night. What are you waiting for? Your new best friend is ready to meet you. Story
Daisy is a 5 year old purebred boxer. She is energetic but is a cuddler as long as you hide all the dog toys. She has a lot of agility and loves to go on hikes and camping trips. She is loyal and will stay near you as long as she builds that bond. She is a passive dog and there has not been a dog that she has not gotten along with and we have had her around a lot of dogs during her life. She went to puppy training as well as would go spend days and weekends at doggie daycare with never any issues. Unfortunately, due to job changes we are away from the home about 8-10 hours daily and aren’t able to give Daisy the life or the exercise she once had. We also have 2 kids that take priority when it comes to time at home etc. although we don’t want to rehome her we feel that her quality of life has diminished and we want more for her. If you are a family that maybe one of you works from home and live a very active lifestyle (with other dogs or with children) I do believe she would be perfect

Story
Wally is about 10 years old and 60 pounds. Wally was adopted 6 months ago and it was going so well, they loved him and he loved them. He especially loved it when the grandson came to visit. Due to a terminal medical diagnosis for the adopter, Wally is back with us in temporary foster care and needs a new foster home or foster-to-adopt home. Wally gets along with humans of all ages, just as ready to play as he is to settle down and cuddle. He would do great in a multi-generational house. He alerts to new people, and he might look tough, but it doesn't take much to win over this big lovebug. Wally likes to take his time on walks, enjoying all the wonderful smells and sights. On longer walks, he and his foster parent have a compromise where Wally gets to sniff at his leisure for the first half, then they pick up the pace for the latter half. This pup is perfectly potty-trained! He even understands the command to "do your business" in the backyard, and hasn't had a single accident at his foster home. Wally is a patient pup, and has been very cooperative with all sorts of indignities like grooming and eardrops. Wally is a very smart dog, and eager to please. Left alone, he generally does well with a frozen kong and space to roam, but he'd much prefer to be with people. He is not an off-leash candidate and should not be in a home with other small pets, but should do OK with a female dog about his size. If you are interested in fostering, adopting or just meeting Wally, please complete our online adoption application at    https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/  . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the Northern California.   July 16, 2024, 12:14 pm

Story
Find a Penny? Pick it up, take it home, all day long you'll have good luck! This friendly and energetic pup is ready to bring some love and maybe some extra luck into your life. We've worked on a lot of behaviors with her such as Sit, Touch, Down-she makes it easy as she's eager to learn! She is also oh so affectionate, as she loves giving kisses! She just came from a home that informed us she is quite the social butterfly with people and dogs alike, but was still working on her excitement-bed time is bed time, Penny! Overall she is still a young pup looking to learn and will do well with reward-based training to transform her into the shiniest coin ever. Could this pup be your lucky Penny? Come on by our shelter and find out!Foster-to-Adopt!Think you and Penny might be a match, but you want to do a trial run at home first? You can foster Penny-meaning you'll take them home for one week with the intention of adopting them at the end of their stay. If things don't work out, you can always bring them back to us. If you're interested, come see us or contact us at adoptions@sfspca.org to learn more.
