Story
Meet Koda ❤️ Koda is an 8-year-old red heeler mix who is incredibly smart, loyal, and looking for a very specific kind of home where he can truly thrive. Koda recently lost the only home he’s ever known because his family is growing and Koda has a tough time adjusting to the unpredictable nature of children. While that transition has been tough, he’s already starting to settle and show us who he really is. Each day, he’s becoming more relaxed and comfortable in foster care —but he will need a patient, committed adopter who understands that trust and learning a new routine takes time. The Basics • Potty trained & crate trained • Lived successfully with a small dog (mini dachshund) most of his life after a very slow and thoughtful introduction • He wants to be part of a “pack” Home Requirements Koda would do best in an adult-only home or one with older, respectful children (8+). He is not comfortable with young kids, especially if they are loud, unpredictable, or in his space. He will need slow, thoughtful introductions to other dogs, and at this time, would do best as the only dog or with a very experienced home willing to manage introductions carefully. No cats due to his prey drive. What He’s Working On Koda can be reactive on leash and in the yard, especially toward people and other dogs. He may lunge, bark, and pull, so he will need someone physically capable and committed to continuing his training. The good news? He is incredibly intelligent and already working on improving his leash manners in foster care. Breed Traits & Needs Koda is every bit the cattle dog he was born to be—smart, driven, and full of energy, even at 8 years old. He is not a “yard-only” or “couch potato” dog. A fenced yard alone won’t meet his needs. To truly thrive, Koda will need: • Daily physical exercise (hikes, walks, running) • Ongoing training and structure • Mental enrichment (puzzle toys, tasks, or a “job”) Personality Koda is a good dog with a big brain and a loyal heart. He isn’t overly cuddly, but he does show affection in his own way—whether that’s relaxing next to you on the couch or simply wanting to be near his person. He’s happiest when he has purpose and engagement. For the right person, someone who understands working breeds and is ready to invest in him, Koda has the potential to be an incredibly rewarding companion. If you’re looking for a smart, active dog and are ready to give Koda the structure and commitment he deserves, he just might be your perfect match. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Marley • 6 Years Old • 70 lbs Cattle Dog / Hound Mix (Best Guess) Marley is a sweet, happy 6-year-old mixed breed girl who’s ready to find her forever home. She’s housebroken and making great progress with crate training — sleeping quietly in her crate at night, though she prefers being out and about with her people during the day. Marley currently lives with a large-breed canine companion and does wonderfully with other dogs. She especially loves spending time outdoors and will require a securely fenced yard where she can safely enjoy one of her favorite activities. One thing Marley is continuing to learn is greeting manners. She gets very excited when her people come home and may jump up out of pure joy. This was allowed in her previous home, but she’s learning that all four paws belong on the floor, and she’s making good progress with positive reinforcement. Because of her size and enthusiasm, Marley would do best in a home with older children. If you’re looking for a loving, happy companion who enjoys being part of the family and is ready to keep learning, Marley may be your perfect match. Marley’s breed mix is a best guess based on appearance; her exact breed makeup is unknown. All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines. Adoption fee: $225 Our dogs are in foster homes across the KC metro. We do not have a shelter facility. Apply to adopt Marley: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAUS/Dog

Story
This is a plug and play dog. She is ready to be someone's best friend. Molly learned the dog door in an hour and knows hand signals for sit and come. She has the important beginning vocabulary of sit, down, and kennel. She jumps into the car and rides quietly. She is working on leash skills. Whoever said, "don't play with your food," hasn't met Molly. She loves to catch tidbits, and when they're pitched a little high, reaches and if high and off to the side, she jumps and twists. She looks like she's going for a frisbee. Molly is shy and sensitive and will need a kind family to bring out her sparkling personality that shows when she's comfortable with people. She is going to be a great dog for someone who likes the look of an Australian Shepherd with her beautiful white ruff, caramel-colored freckles and mottled gray and black coat. She is spayed and will come with age appropriate vaccinations.

Story
Gonzo is the class clown of the his litter — and he proudly owns the title of Most Likely to Cause Mischief. Gonzo and his family were brought into rescue alongside their devoted mama, Callie. Now this 60% Australian Cattle Dog and 20% Pitbull Terrier mix is safe, growing fast, and putting all that puppy energy to good use… mostly by finding new ways to be silly. Gonzo is the life of the party. He loves to play, chew on anything that looks remotely chewable, and bark just to hear his own voice. If there’s a toy nearby, he’ll grab it. If there’s another puppy nearby, he’ll wrestle it. And if there’s a quiet moment… Gonzo will probably fix that. This goofy boy is full of personality and puppy antics. He’s curious, bold, and always ready for the next adventure — even if that adventure is just zooming around the room or proudly carrying a toy twice his size. Beneath all the chaos, though, Gonzo is a sweet, happy pup who loves attention and will happily be apart of your adventures for years to come. Gonzo will thrive in a home that’s ready for all the fun (and training!) that comes with an energetic working-breed mix. With patience, playtime, and plenty of chew toys, this silly boy is going to grow into an amazing companion. If you’re looking for a puppy who will make you laugh every day and keep life interesting, Gonzo might just be your guy. Gonzo's adoption fee is $275 and includes all age-appropriate vaccines, neuter, microchip, and heartworm prevention.
