Let Cami be the queen of your castle! She is such a sweet, shy girl who wants desperately to be loved and we have no doubt that she will steal your heart. She enjoys peaceful activities with her people. (Check out her fishing adventure in Minnesota last winter!) It's going to take Cami a bit to trust and she'd appreciate a home where there aren't a bunch of visitors coming and going. While she can be picky about her canine friends, a super social dog might just do the trick. Of course, Cami would be perfectly satisfied being your one and only, too. Either way, she promises to love you to the moon and back! Cami's around eight years old and is a very polite house guest. She's quiet, doesn't get into things she shouldn't, and already knows to do her business outside. Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 for more info on Cami. She's staying with us in Beloit, Kansas, but transport is available to the right home. #thepetconnection #adoptdontshop #socute #happy

Story
We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting Whiskey, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org. She must go to a home with at least one other dog. Rosie Fund is providing Whiskey's adopters with a $100 Rosie Life Starter Kit. PLUS Bigfoot Pet Photography has added a $350 photo artwork voucher! Visit rosiefund.org to see additional videos of Whiskey. Whiskey lived on a rural farm in Oklahoma as a completely feral dog. When she arrived she had no idea what it meant to be touched by a human. She had never been on a leash, never even eaten from a bowl. She was terrified of everything around her and did not know what it meant to trust anyone. For weeks, our staff would sit in her run just to get her used to human company, she was to scared to take treats from us and would wait to eat until the night time when everyone was gone. We slowly began to introduce her to other dogs, which really helped her start to come out of her shell just enough to go outside and back in on her own. Whiskey's rehabilitation has been 4 years in the making. Whiskey is now in a wonderful foster home and has made a lot of improvement and is beginning to trust people. Her foster mom has been working on getting her used to leashes, and she now goes for walks EVERY NIGHT! This is a huge improvement, and we are so proud of her. Whiskey has another dog in her foster home and they get along great! She has learned to play and really enjoys the company of her foster sister. We are requiring that she go to a home with another dog since she is much more comfortable with other canines around to show her everything is okay. She often likes to spend time just laying in her bed. She is a den dog who likes to have a safe space. Whiskey is food motivated and will warm up to new things with the help of her favorite treats. She squeals with joy at new foods, and especially loves a little bit of ice cream. Overall, Whiskey has had a long journey to learning how to be a house pet, and she is still learning everyday. She is a quiet, shy girl who has never barked or growled in almost three years in her foster home. We're hoping to find Whiskey a family that will give her lots of time, love, and TLC.

Story
My son adopted Broody through a shelter and has since left for the AF. Broody is about 7 years old. I unfortunately work a good distance from home and the time away has caused him separation anxiety. He needs to be with a good home where someone can give him lots of love and attention. He loves to cuddle and be rubbed. He is good with other dogs and kids. He has some hesitation to grown men at first but warms up soon after. He gets a lot of anxiety with thunderstorms and fireworks and needs to be close by you. It breaks my heart to have to rehome him, but it’s not fair to him to be pinned up all day. He is really a sweet boy.

These pups are in Kansas City, Missouri too!

Story
Meet Dumbo! This one-of-a-kind, 1-year-old Australian Shepherd mix may not have big floppy ears, but he does have a huge heart and a personality that just might fly away with yours. Currently living in a foster home, Dumbo is a playful, cuddly pup who lives for toy time, lap snuggles, and the occasional scoop of ice cream. He’s also a work in progress who needs the right person willing to put in the time and care he truly deserves—someone who sees beyond his cuteness and is ready to help him thrive.Dumbo is deaf, which means he experiences the world a little differently. While that doesn’t stop him from being playful, smart, and affectionate, it does mean he needs a home with structure, patience, and an understanding of how to communicate and train a deaf dog. He also has limited vison. He’s currently living in a foster home, where he`s learning how to navigate life and be the best boy ever! He’s incredibly eager to learn and connect—but it takes commitment.Dumbo needs a home without children or cats, as he can be easily startled and sometimes unsure of new experiences. He’s an energetic boy and won’t thrive in an apartment—he needs a house with a secure yard where he can safely explore and burn off his energy. Dumbo loves to hang out with other pups and he would love to meet any potential canine siblings! Our staff will carefully handle all dog-to-dog introductions at the shelter to ensure a great match. If you`re looking for a sweet, smart, and special pup to join you on life’s adventures, Dumbo is ready to soar into your heart. Dumbo was able to go on a Dog Day Out recently and here is what they had to say, `Dumbo had an amazing day out! We started the adventure with a stop for a pup cup, which he enjoyed so gently—it was adorable. After that, we headed to a big backyard where he had a blast chasing toys around. Dumbo loves tennis balls and could play fetch all day! When the rain started to come down a little harder, we headed inside where Dumbo curled up for a cozy nap. He’s a smart boy who seems to know when it’s time to play and when it’s time to relax. Dumbo would thrive in a home with plenty of space to run and play, ideally with a backyard where he can get his energy out. He also showed some natural herding instincts, so it’d be fun to see how he does with a big herding ball or other enrichment activities.`Dumbo is neutered, microchipped, up to date on his vaccinations, and ready for his forever home!
