Story
KENNEL ID #01658 Crowley/Huddie was originally adopted from Diane's in May 2023. If you're looking for a energetic, highly intelligent companion for every adventure you've got planned, Crowley is the dog for you! Crowley had an injury caused by an adult Pit Bull attack when he was a 5 week old puppy. His skull was fractured, left eye suffered trauma, and there was trauma to his left sinus area. He has healed well from this injury, but he is totally blind in his left eye. A consultation with a veterinary ophthalmologist said that he may need the eye removed in the future as the eyelid doesn't completely close over the eye when he sleeps, and the dryness sometimes causes him discomfort and corneal scarring. He gets a squirt of NeoPolydex ointment in the morning and at bedtime to help with the dryness, and he has prescriptions for trazodone and gabapentin as needed if the eye gets irritated and inflamed. The trauma to his sinus makes him occasionally snotty, but it is not an infection. The trauma to his upper jaw caused his upper canine tooth not to develop and emerge. The veterinarian x-rayed this and determined that it is not abscessed and should be left alone. Crowley has had puppy obedience training for eight weeks, with What a Good Dog in Malvern, and graduated. with flying colors. He learned a lot from this class. He sits on command, waits at the door before going outside, how to walk nicely on a leash, and how to remain calm when other dogs are freaking out around him. I have been working on reinforcing what he learned. He is highly intelligent and is learning new things, like dancing on command, giving paw, etc. He loves training time, and wants very much to please you. Crowley has very high energy and strong herding instincts typical of Heelers. I recently was diagnosed with have disabilities that prevents me from being able to give him the exercise he needs, and my HOA will not allow any kind of fencing (not even electronic fencing) to give him running space. This has resulted in him stalking and chasing our resident cats for entertainment 24/7. Crowley loves to be the center of attention at all times, which leads him to destructive behaviors to get my attention. He wants attention negative or positive and will show me that he is counter surfing, chewing and eating things that he knows he is NOT allowed. to have. He has plenty of toys designed for chewing but has learned that being naughty gets my attention and my attempts to redirect him has been unsuccessful. He is extremely bored and needs a home without cats or smaller animals that can give him the exercise and attention he so desperately needs. He would love a household with another similar sized dog with a lot of energy to play with. He currently lives with an older Boerboel Mastiff that is more of a couch potato than a playmate but get along great. Thank you for your interest in rescue.
