Story
Meet Matrix! He is an approximately 1 year old, male, Heeler/Cattle Dog mix. He was found stray and never reclaimed at the shelter by his owner but is now safe and sound in foster care while he waits for his forever home.   He enjoys the company of people and appears to get along with other dogs. He's working on learning how to walk on a leash, house training and basic commands. He is full of loving energy and has a silly boy attitude! If you have another dog in the home, a meet and greet is encouraged to make sure they get along. He is neutered, microchipped, current on core vaccines and heartworm negative. If you are interested in providing a loving home for Matrix, please apply online we'll be in touch. His adoption fee is $275.  Adoption Application - Legacy Humane SocietyWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Story
We call her Orphan Annie since we found her abandoned on a hiking trail. Sort of amazing now that we have gotten to know her and that she stayed in one place long enough to be rescued.Annie is probably a Stubby Tail Cattle Dog, very much an Australian Cattle Dog with an emphasis on being active and engaged. Annie is typical of the herding breed, meant to nip at others to direct where to go. For this reason, she would not be good in a home with young children and is the kind of girl who needs a job.Annie loves being active and into everything. She usually has two speeds, sleeping, and full blast; unless she is one-on-one with her human when she is totally engaged. She is smart and would be a terrific girl to train for just about any high activity - herding, agility, anything that keeps her thinking and able to get praise for doing the right thing. This beautiful, compact girl will give back 200 percent and is capable of complex tasks; high endurance and willingness to please. If you need a working companion to be part of your everyday life you could not find a better match. She is fully vetted, microchipped, spayed, and current with her flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Story
Kiki is a love bug, wants to be devoted to her human(s), can be either one person or a family, she has enough love and devotion for her forever home, whatever that might look like. She lives with lots of other dogs and gets along with everyone, but given the chance, she will choose to be with her human. She is crate- and house-trained, does great on a leash, and loves to go for rides. Though she is still a youngster, Kiki is the most laid-back Cattle Dog you could hope to meet while still having the total engagement and desire to please.Kiki is fully vetted - current with vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartwormprevention.

Story
Meet Scout City: The Handsome Hound Looking for His Forever Home! Introducing Scout City, our nearly five-year-old hound mix who's ready to find a loving forever home. Weighing in at a sturdy 87 pounds, Scout is a handsome and friendly boy who has faced a lot in his life but remains full of love and loyalty. Scout was born in our care in 2019 after his mom was brought to the shelter. Sadly, his mom couldn't leave the shelter due to protocol and contracted distemper, leaving Scout as the sole survivor of his litter. Adopted as a puppy, Scout's journey took a tough turn when he was abandoned by his adopter at the shelter following a breakup. Since then, Scout has been living in boarding, waiting patiently for his chance at a stable, loving home. Scout can be a little timid in new situations, but once he relaxes, his whole face lights up with joy. He loves toys and treats, and his happy-go-lucky nature makes him a delightful family dog. Scout does well with other dogs and enjoys both playing with canine friends and having quiet time by himself. This speckled dude is one of our favorites. He's a large, good-looking guy with a heart full of love to give. Although he has some separation anxiety, Scout's friendly disposition and desire to be a loyal companion make him a wonderful addition to any family willing to give him the time and understanding he needs. Scout is looking for a forever home where he can finally experience the stability and love he deserves. If you're searching for a loving, playful, and loyal companion who will bring joy to your life, Scout is your guy. Adopt Scout City today and give him the forever home he's been dreaming of! All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Story
Nelson is just one of the sweetest puppies there is. When he first came to the rescue he was struggling with a skin condition that took a little trial/error to figure out, despite this he never let it get him down or stop his happiness. He loves to play, then lay next to you and wants to be wherever you are. He's all round just an amazing puppy, with catching onto crate & potty training fairly quickly and easily. In another life, its suspected he was a bird watcher, as rather than walking around and sniffing on walks he's content just looking around and observing his surroundings while sunbathing. He's growing up to be around a medium size dog (estimated to get around 25 lbs). Nelson is a sweet little guy, calm and cuddly. He loves his toys and to play with other pups. He is learning sit and other tricks. He came into the rescue with a skin condition (non-contagious) and is almost healed. Nelson promises to be your best friend from day one. He is the epitome of the stereotype, a man’s best friend. He is brave, even when faced with scary shots from the vet. He loves to play, and everything he does is to make you happy. He plays well with other dogs but prefers to play with humans. All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Puppies adopted under the age of five months require a spay/neuter contract, and all dogs are required to be spayed by six months unless otherwise medically noted. Our dogs are currently on heartworm preventative. Puppies receive 3 to 4 rounds of vaccinations depending on their age, and adults receive two rounds unless they've been with us longer than a year, in which case they receive the booster update. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at www.dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application, please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

Story
Meet Fella: The Distinguished Gentleman with a Goofy Side! Say hello to Fella, our big, beautiful, and well-marked boy who's always ready for a game of fetch! At seven years old and weighing in at a solid 80 pounds, Fella is quite the distinguished gentleman. He's got a heart full of love and a playful spirit that will bring endless joy to your life. Fella is all about that ball life-he loves to play until your arm hurts! He knows all his basic commands and works well on a leash, making him a delight to take on walks and adventures. With a few treats and some minutes, he'll entertain you with rollovers, shakes, and quickly learn new tricks. This sweet-faced boy, with his adorable freckles, is well-behaved and gets along with other dogs and people. While he's not a fan of cats, Fella is all about making human friends, even if he plays it cool at first. Underneath his reserved exterior, you'll find a goofy side and a loyal heart that will warm up to you in no time. Making new dog friends isn't always easy for Fella, as his big, strong presence can be a bit intimidating at first. However, he's lived in a home with other dogs before being surrendered to the shelter, and with proper introductions and decompression, he would do great as part of a pack. Fella loves car rides, enjoys good walks, and is a fantastic hiker and runner. He recently went in for photographs and made himself right at home in the studio, showcasing his love for belly rubs and the comfort of a home. Fella is looking for a foster or adopter who can promise to be a good friend to him, and he promises to be a sweet, loyal companion. If you're looking for a distinguished gentleman with a playful side, Fella is your guy. Adopt or foster Fella today and let this charming boy become a beloved member of your family! Story
Shai is a two-year-old, very energetic dog. I adopted her in March 2025. Unfortunately, my work schedule has changed significantly, and I no longer have enough quality time to spend with her. Shai would thrive with a present, active dog parent. She is great with kids as well as other dogs and would make a wonderful family dog or companion for an active individual.
