Story
There are dogs that stand out. That are just amazing. That people were unkind to.  We do our best to help them get over their previous trauma. She is a special girl and once she steals your heart he will never let go. *DFW AREA APPLICATIONS ONLY* Meet Brownie! Brownie and her brother were found in the country; alone and scared these two sweet siblings were trying desperately to survive. A wonderful good Samaritan could not leave them and decided to save them and help them find a new life where they would be safe and loved. She was able to safely secure and care for them but owners were never located. The kind Samaritan reached out to Legacy Humane Society for help finding them loving forever homes.  Brownie loves to play with other dogs, and shares her favorite stuffed toys with anyone that will play with her. She is an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix, with beautiful soft white fur with liver accents and speckled  socks, she is sweet, smart and shy until she feels safe. Brownie is crate trained, sleeps through the night in her crate like an angel, and is doing excellent on house training. She is working on leash training and rides excellent in the car for adventures. Brownie LOVES other dogs and needs to be in a home with another dog to give her confidence and be her playmate and companion. If you think she might be the piece of your heart and family that is missing and are looking to add a forever family member to your home, please complete an application on our website and her foster mom will be in touch. Please complete an adoption application and someone will reach out to you within 48 hours via email.  https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ $275 donation includes vaccines, de-wormer, a one-year rabies vaccine, microchip and registration, and neuter.  We will not be able to respond to or consider interest from those outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Amber and her sister, Margot, were dumped, and luckily, not like so many other dumped dogs that get killed or starve, they were picked up by someone in rescue. They have been together all their lives, and we would love to see them stay together if possible. So, please check out Margot too if you are interested in this sweet girl.Amber lives with lots of other dogs and gets along with everyone. The girls sleep and eat in the same kennel and love to cuddle together. Amber has good house manners and is crate trained. She loves attention, even if she is a bit timid with new people. She is fully vetted, current with vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and on flea and tick, as well as heartworm, prevention.

Story
Margot and her sister were picked up as strays. Luckily, someone found them before they starved or were killed. She and her sister, Amber, have been together their entire lives, so we would love to see them adopted together, if possible. Both girls are athletic, but Margot so much that she can jump and climb over the fences at her foster home to go where she pleases. Luckily, she stays on her property and goes into different areas to play with the other dogs or her foster family. Her foster has not worked on trying to keep her contained, but this would be a concern until she could adjust to her new home; she does have excellent recall. We have a portable containment system to send with her for someone willing to work with that training.Margot lives with lots of other dogs and gets along with everyone, including the livestock rescues. She has good house manners, is crate trained, and is working on walking on a leash. She is fully vetted - current with vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartwormprevention.

Story
Berne, means 'bear-like' and this boy is so cute and has the waddle of a bear! As cute as he was we noticed something else was going on with this boy besides being a tail-less wonder. His back end seemed smooshed. We got him checked out, after x-rays and evaluation he has a compressed spine. This is common in some breeds. We don't know his breed but it will be something he has forever. He is not in pain and still acts like a normal puppy. As he gets a little bigger, we will see if there are any remedies or treatments that might help him but we do suspect he will live a happy life and would be an awesome addition to any family. He may need to be in household with older kids so he doesn't get knocked around. He is potty trained. He is doing great with crate and leash training. He loves tug of war, bully sticks and pestering his older foster siblings. He has spurts of energy a couple times a day, doesn't last long and otherwise very chill! Vet suspects he will get to 30 pounds. This sweet boy was found as a stray in a park. All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at http://dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

Story
Meet Daisy Dukes: The Independent Farm Helper Introducing Daisy Dukes, also known as Daisy Collerville. Rescued from a hoarding case, Daisy is a nine-year-old, 60-pound shepherd mix who thrives on having her own space. Although she's feral and prefers to keep her distance from people, she would be a perfect fit for a farm where she can put her excellent perimeter-walking skills to use. Daisy is a natural at keeping predators off your property and would be a valuable asset in a farm setting. She gets along well with chickens and cats, and she's generally good with other dogs. While she's fine with people, she prefers to stay away and enjoy her independence. Given her background and feral nature, Daisy currently lives in boarding due to her fear of people. She would do great on a fenced-in farm where she can roam freely and enjoy the barn life without the risk of wandering off. Daisy is looking for a special sponsor to help cover her boarding costs and ensure she continues to live comfortably. If you have a farm and are looking for a hardworking helper who's good with animals and prefers her own space, Daisy Dukes is your girl. If you're interested in sponsoring Daisy and helping her live a safe and happy life, please consider supporting her today. All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at www.dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application, please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

Story
Hi there, we are looking to rehome our dearly beloved dog Daisy. She has been near and dear to our hearts for 7 years and this is one of the hardest things my husband and I have ever done. Since our daughter has come into our lives a year ago, taking care of Daisy has become a lot more challenging. We are not able to give her the love and attention she deserves and so for that reason, we must find her a new loving home. Daisy is incredibly empathetic and will be by your side through all of the ups and downs. While Daisy has never bitten a child, she has shown quite a bit of frustration with them and for that reason I think she would do best in a home with no small children. She is very cuddly, loves fluffy toys, and enjoys the dog park.
