Story
Meet Wyatt How could you not love that face?! Wyatt is a gentle, easy going, mellow boy. This boy can often be over looked at our shelter because of his timid disposition; however, he is definitely one of the best boys ever! Wyatt came to us as a stray and was underweight. After some much needed TLC, Wyatt has become the most affectionate boy! He can be timid when meeting new people but after a few treats, you'll have him eating out of the palm of your hand.. Literally! Patience and love goes a long way with this sweet pup!

Story
Ranger is a 5-year old, full bred Australian cattle dog. His mom was full blue and his dad was red/blue and he came out fully Red! We have had him since he was 8 weeks old but we are moving onto a college campus where they don’t allow pets. His is very energetic and loves to run and play ball. He is extremely athletic. He is the most loyal dog you will find. He is a little suspicious of other animals at first, but then warms up pretty quickly, and even did fine introducing a cat into the home. He loves to snuggle, but won’t jump in your face. We want him to go to a loving home with a yard or even acres of land to run on. We love him so much and want to make sure he is in good hands.

Story
This delightful, sweet two-year-old Australian Cattle Dog is appropriately named Dottie because of her speckles. She weighs 45 pounds and arrived at the Mesquite Shelter on 3/11 as a stray. She is spayed. When we first got out into the yard she was very timid, submissive and cautiously friendly. She even cowered when I reached to pet her! She found security by huddling by the door. With sweet talk and getting down on her level she warmed up to me. And warmed up to me she did! By the end of the photo shoot she went from being scared to being happy. You can see the joy on her face. I could tell all along she wanted to make friends. She just needed to trust. She will need a laid-back household that will give her time to adjust. Then she becomes your BBF! She sits for treats and takes them gently. She was not interested in playing with toys or balls. When I sat down she came to me to be petted, and I was rewarded with kisses and tail wags. She did her business in the yard. She walks OK on a leash. She was not interested in meeting other dogs, but I did not see any aggression. She is gentle, calm, friendly, alert, and very loving!

Story
Josie is a very well-behaved, easy-going, tail-wagging, friendly, happy girl that is waiting for you. She is a three-year-old 42 pound Blue Heeler mix that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/23 as a stray. She is not spayed. She is alert and curious, and I'm sure very smart. She knows the sit command and takes treats gently. She's motivated by treats and as smart as she is, would be able to learn more commands. She chases balls and toys, but hasn't yet learned what to do with them. You could tell she enjoyed this activity. As her adopter, you could teach her to retrieve. She actually heeled when walked on a leash. When I first introduced her to other dogs, taking her out, she sniffed some and ignored the ones that were barking at her. However, when I returned her to her kennel another dog initiated a barking match. We always suggest if you have another dog to ask the shelter staff for a dog test. As gentle and well-behaved as Josie is, she would most likely do well with a family with children. Please come meet her. She would love to hang out with you especially in the evenings during family time.

Story
We've come a long, way baby! So much so that several of the staff members are commenting about the improvement and Penelope‘s behavior. Penelope is a two-year-old 40 pound Australian cattle dog/Anatolian shepherd mix that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 5/4 as a stray. She is spayed. When she first came into the shelter, she was frozen in fear. We had a dedicated volunteer that spent considerable time working with her and helping her to build trust. It worked! She went from fighting the leash to walking with a tug, pull, pet routine. Now she walks hesitantly on the leash. She also followed me around the laundry room and came to me to have her ears scratched. Look at those big brown eyes and you can tell that she is sweet and is wanting to completely trust! She has so much potential. She is still a work in progress. In a few days, we'll do another video/evaluation and I'm sure you'll see great strides. Meanwhile we are completely full to overflowing. So if you have time to devote to a loving dog, that just needs TLC and patience, please come visit Penelope. She would make a great snuggle bug!

Gabbana aka Gabby is a 1 and a half year old brindle cattle dog mix. She is such a happy girl that loves to play outdoors. She is great with other dogs (preferably big dogs) and would do best in an active family or with other active dogs. She is potty trained, and we are working on commands. She is spayed, microchiped, and current on vaccines and she is ready to find her forever home.

Story
Hello. My name is Houston. I am an adult male Blue Heeler mix that weighs approx. 50lbs. I was originally found off of S. FM 549 in Heath on 5/17/23 and never reclaimed. So now I am hoping to find a new furever home. I walk well on a leash and take correction well. I am energetic but not overly playful and suggested with kids 16 years and older. I am still new to the crew and do require a meet and greet if you have other pets in the home. No cats please! My adoption fee is $125 which includes my neuter, microchip, rabies vaccination, boosters to date and heartworm test.  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption.
