Story
Vickie is a 3 to 4-year-old, 44-pound border collie mix who arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 3/14, brought in as a stray. She’s a gentle, sweet, affectionate, and well-mannered Southern girl with plenty of charm. A bit timid, she preferred to stay close rather than wander off. She sits for treats and takes them gently, and when I walked her back to her kennel, she walked between my legs—a sign she was seeking comfort. She enjoyed having her ears scratched and is truly a diamond in the rough. She did her business in the yard and let me know she’d love to get out for a stretch but would be happiest spending most of her time inside soaking up attention from her new family.

Story
Meet Littlefoot! This little tripod is one of the sweetest pups you’ll ever meet. She was found as a stray along with her puppies in South Texas a few months ago. Since rescuing her, we have gotten her fully vetted which included amputating her front limb, as she was born with a deformity that was causing her some pain. She’s a little over a year old, good with dogs, but prefers a mellow companion. She’s extremely sweet with people and would like to be a cuddle partner for hours on end. She’s also potty trained and crate trained. She has not been cat tested so unfortunately, we do not know how she would do with kitties. Because Littlefoot was a "street dog" the first year of her life, new things can be scary at first. So we will require a patient leader that can teach her that the world is not a scary place. Our trainer will be happy to continue to work with her on confidence building once she enters into your home, as all of our pups come with 3 free at home sessions with one of our trainers. If this little bundle of energy and love, sounds like the perfect match for you, please visit the link and fill out an adoption application so that we can schedule a phone call to chat about her . Please note we do not ship dogs out of state. If you’re currently not in the Dallas Fort Worth area, you will have to come to Dallas to meet her.

Story
Meet Outlaw! Outlaw is a 3-year-old male Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix weighing around 44 lbs who was found on 04/23/26 off Brockway Dr. in Rockwall. Unfortunately, he was never reclaimed and is now available for adoption and ready for a fresh start. Outlaw is new to the crew, so we are still getting to know him—stay tuned for updates as we learn more about his personality. What we do know is that he appears shy at first, which is not uncommon in the shelter environment, but he seems to want to be around people and is already showing interest in human companionship. He is also learning his way around a leash and seems to be catching on fairly quickly. Because Outlaw really enjoys being around people, he would do best with a family that is home more often than not, has someone who works from home, or has a stay-at-home household member. He is not a dog that will be happy spending long periods alone in a yard. In fact, he may try to find his way out to seek companionship, so he will need a home committed to keeping him safely indoors and including him as part of the family. Outlaw does appear to do best with female dog companions that can match his energy level and play style. Meet and greets are suggested for adopters who currently have another dog in the home to help ensure a good match. Outlaw's adoption fee is $125. He is neutered, microchipped, current on his rabies vaccine, and boosters to date. He is heartworm positive but thanks to Rockwall PAWS his treatment is sponsored. An approved online adoption application is required for meet and greets as well as for adoption. Apply online at: https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense. May 19, 2026, 4:47 pm

Story
--Meet Muffin — 1-Year-Old Cattle Dog Doesn’t she just look like fun?! With her incredibly expressive face and soft eyes, Muffin is the kind of dog who wears her heart on her sleeve. This sweet girl spent three long months in the shelter—waiting, hoping, watching other dogs leave while she stayed behind. We honestly can’t believe no one scooped her up sooner. Now safe in a foster home, Muffin follows her foster mom everywhere, soaking up the comfort and reassurance she’s been craving. She may be cautious around men, but with a gentle touch and a little patience, she opens up beautifully.   Muffin: Loves car rides and will be your loyal co-pilot Is quiet in her crate and walks well on a leash Gets along well with other dogs Is learning that the world isn’t so scary after all She’s ready to leave her past behind and step into a life full of pup cups, snuggles, and soft voices. Muffin just needs someone to show her how wonderful life can truly be.   Apply to adopt: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/13108/generic   ##2479282##

Story
We’ve had Thor since he was a puppy from a family friend. He is 1.5 years old. We’re looking for a person or family who has ample time to spend with him. He is very energetic and enjoys playing in the yard and going on walks. He is crate trained and potty trained. He gets along with big dogs and small dogs and would do good having a companion. He’s very loving but can take some time warming up to new people.
