Story
Hi, Ross here! If you are looking for a best buddy who likes to be on the go and have fun, I’m your guy. I was born this past July and am an Aussie Mix, like my Mom, although we are not sure about my Dad’s breed. I'm sweet and cuddly, with soft white fur, and sparkly dark eyes.   I'm great with kids, cats, other dogs. I like going new places and meeting new friends.  I'm very well adjusted!  I'm crate trained and mostly housetrained. I would love a person or family who will make me a part of their whole live, for my whole life. I’m available on a Foster-to-Adopt basis. Approved fosters will: Keep the puppy safe and well taken care of (all pets in the home must be up to date on shots and heartworm prevention) Children in the home must be over five years old. Provide adequate socialization, structure and predictable routines.  Provide positive reinforcement training only; no prong, shock, or choke chains will be provided or tolerated. RHS will provide training resources for you as well as offer a rescue rate with our trainer should you want home or classroom training Take the puppy to all vet appointments at our vet (at RHS expense) Pay $50 deposit upon placement, to be applied to the final adoption fee Adopt the puppy once all medical care is complete, including spay or neuter at least 6 months of age. STIL INTERESTED?  NEXT STEPS: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor, and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $135 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets.   ##2466427##

This smart, beautiful girl has a wonderful spirit and gentle soul.  We just love her to bits.   She's a pretty savvy chick.  She figured out the doggie door pretty quick and takes herself out to go potty or a respite from the hustle and bustle of a busy doggy filled houshold. She's sensitive and sweet and can read a room in 10 seconds flat.  Good vibe, bad vibe?  She knows.  She loves hanging out with the resident dogs and patrolling the backyard for squirrels. Glory has also discovered the toy basket and loves to empty it and even take toys out the doggie door.  She enjoys walks with her foster mom and her "pack", exploring new neighborhoods and fields. Oh - and she's been a momma - raised to kiddos, Ross and Betsy.  Also available for adoption.  She was a good mom, and is a most excellent dog.   You'd be lucky if she was your dog.   ##2466424##

Story
Coming soon!! Tucker is now 5 1/2 years old and 65 lbs.  The family he was adopted to gave him to a random stranger who turned out to be homeless.  He was let loose by this random stranger and hit by a car sustaining a right femur fracture.  After regaining ownership of Tucker we were able to have his leg repaired on 7/16/25.  He is a sweet, people and dog friendly boy and will be available for adoption after he recovers from surgery in the lovng and caring home of his foster family.     Tucker is an adorable 5 month old black and white cattle dog mix (best guess!). He currently weighs about 28 pounds and still has some growing to do. He was abandoned at a local lake and was unsure of people at first but has been living in a loving foster home with two other dogs that he enjoys playing and cuddling with. Tucker would love a home with a friendly dog or two and/or ollder children who want to throw the ball for him.  A fenced yard and an owner willing to take him on adventures is ideal.  To meet Tucker please fill out our no obligation application at www.dsda.org/adopt * Adoption Fees: Puppies (under 12 months) - $300+taxDogs (12 months and over) - $250+tax Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Vet checks are required. All resident animals must be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative (if applicable). Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. Must have a secure fence if in a house. Must remove any and all toxic plants in the back yard prior to home visit. Applicant is home more than not. Home visit is required. For this reason, we adopt locally in the Dallas area. Any poisonous plants must be removed from the yard before a dog can be placed.  ##624985##

Cheyenne Is Available For Adoption She's an absolute doll! This sweet baby girl was rescued over a month ago. She was part of an unplanned litter from an irresponsible dog owner who failed to have her dog spayed. Since being in a loving foster home, Cheyenne has become very playful & discovered her love of chew toys. She enjoys exploring the world around her & she's eager to learn. She listens well & already knows "sit" & "no." Cheyenne isn't a fan of the leash yet, but getting there. She uses puppy pads & is working on potty training. Cheyenne is such a snugglebug.. she loves to be near her people. When her foster mom leaves, she'll bark to object, but doesn't have severe separation anxiety. Cheyenne would hugely benefit from having an older doggie sibling. She wants to play & learn so much! Cheyenne was born early February. She's currently 3 mos & 24 lbs. She'll likely grow to be between 50 & 60 lbs. Her breed mix includes blue heeler, Rottie & terrier.
