Buttercup is doing great with life indoors! After living outside, she has mastered “sit,” goes into her kennel on command, and is making great progress with leash walking, especially when walking alongside the other dogs. She’s also very confident meeting new dogs at the dog park and absolutely loves playtime! Wrestling and playing chase are two of her favorites. Any dog in her future home should be patient and tolerant as Buttercup continues learning appropriate play boundaries, she’s a big puppy with a BIG personality! Because of her size and enthusiastic greetings, Buttercup would do best in a home without small children and not in an apartment. Buttercup is 3 months old and weighs 27lbs. Per Wisdom Panel she is a mix of 16 different breeds with the two largest breeds being 49% Australian Cattle Dog and 10% German Shepherd. Her estimated adult size is between 35-62 lbs. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs in shelters, dogs in abusive or neglectful situations, and dogs surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process, which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, microchipped, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Dogs in the greatest need take priority. We call her Orphan Annie since we found her abandoned on a hiking trail. Sort of amazing now that we have gotten to know her and that she stayed in one place long enough to be rescued.Annie is probably a Stubby Tail Cattle Dog, very much an Australian Cattle Dog with an emphasis on being active and engaged. Annie is typical of the herding breed, meant to nip at others to direct where to go. For this reason, she would not be good in a home with young children and is the kind of girl who needs a job.Annie loves being active and into everything. She usually has two speeds, sleeping, and full blast; unless she is one-on-one with her human when she is totally engaged. She is smart and would be a terrific girl to train for just about any high activity - herding, agility, anything that keeps her thinking and able to get praise for doing the right thing.This beautiful, compact girl will give back 200 percent and is capable of complex tasks; high endurance and willingness to please.
