Kaia Bear is a big fan of being outside, sniffing all there is to sniff, feeling the sun on her fur, and getting her steps in. Not only does she make an amazing adventure buddy, but Kaia Bear bonds strongly to her people and makes an amazing best friend and cuddle buddy to keep you company at home. Kaia Bear enjoys sitting in her person's lap, getting pets, and playing fetch with tennis balls. And of course, showing off her cool tricks! Kaia Bear can be selective with other dogs and does better with mellow male dogs. She will likely do best and be easiest to manage being the only dog in the home. Kaia Bear needs a home without cats or other small animals. Kaia Bear is looking for a quiet, adult only home with a fenced yard (no apartments, please) she can zoom around and sunbathe in. Suddenly moving this April into a senior living apartment – downsizing by 70% from house/garden in greenbelt environment! Unsuited to the new environment: Zags (Gonzaga) our beloved Heeler aka Aussie Cattle Dog Zags got rescued at age 4 by a BC/ Aussie/ACD volunteer who later could no longer foster. Residual PTSD from pre-rescue dog/woman-abuse: Zags is still “stranger-danger” wary and fear-aggressive encountering neighborhood-dog aggression. But cuddly / affectionate in his 5 years with us. Dog Ranch staff have commented on his affectionate personality when boarding during trips flying to New England family. Spouse can’t remember to avoid triggering Zags’ startle reflex: approaches while he’s gobbling supper, or “threatens” by waving phone or TV remote. But they still hang out contentedly together watching TV in the family room. We’ll bring Zags mid-March to Ashland OR, and could bring his stuff if hand-off gets set up: his crates+cushions (hard-side + collapsible), new toys etc

Gray is a 9 year old mixed breed, weighing about 60 pounds, with the dominant breeds being Australian cattle dog, Alaskan Malamute, and Siberian Husky. He's super smart and eager to please, making him very trainable. He is also very sweet and gets extremely excited when he thinks it’s time to go for a walk. He will try to talk to express his excitement, but it just comes out as a howling sound. When I cut apples, he clearly knows he'll get to eat the cores and will sit patiently with his tail wagging. He’s mild mannered, confident, not a big barker, and is great with children of all ages. He lays down quietly for most of the day and especially loves to lay in the sun. He is well socialized with other dogs, and has lived with cats but has a tendency to chase them. He also will chase rabbits or squirrels if he sees them.

Loves to have family and friends come for visits encouraging all to participate in her weakness for a good tummy rub. Her ideal day is running around a large fenced area chasing a ball and playing hide and seek in a field. She does better in a quiet neighborhood where she can get her exercise playing in your big backyard. She will need more help with leash walks in busy areas. She will probably do best as the only dog in a household. Being a Blue Heeler mix, she is a devoted companion who loves to please and is eager to sit, stay, wait, lie down, heel, and come when you call for a yummy treat. Meet Beanz! Beanz is a newer addition to our rescue, but she’s already stealing hearts! For two long years, she survived in the fields of Eastern WA, living off workers’ lunches to get by. A kind woman finally took her in and helped her find her way to us. In her temporary foster home, Beanz has shown she’s social, affectionate, and smart. She’s great with people, good with other dogs, and even lived briefly with a bunny and a cat—doing well with both. She’s house-trained, knows basic commands, comes when called, and loves the outdoors. She’s not a big fan of the crate, but her gentle nature makes her a joy to be around. Unfortunately, her current foster can only keep her for a short time. Beanz also needs a foster who can help her through upcoming medical care—she has a luxating patella and will need an FHO surgery on her hip from an old injury.
