Story
LONG-TERM FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED ❤️ RJ is a 6½-year-old mixed breed with a heart as big as his paws. With a unique blend of American Pit Bull Terrier, Australian Cattle Dog, Labrador Retriever, Boxer, and German Shepherd, RJ is a handsome, athletic, and intelligent companion who’s ready to find a home that truly understands him. Originally rescued from a Texas shelter at around 1½ years old, RJ made his way to Washington and spent six months with Forever Home Dog Rescue before being adopted in October 2021. His early life is a mystery, but it’s likely he spent time on the streets as a puppy. Despite his rough start, RJ has grown into a sweet, fiercely loyal dog who bonds deeply with his people. What RJ Loves: Exercise & Adventure: RJ thrives with daily activity—he’s a fantastic running and hiking partner and enjoys fetch and chase (though he might not always bring the ball back!). He has been on many backpacking trips and loves being outside. He does well on long walks with familiar people and dogs. Toys & Playtime: Balls, chew toys, and stuffed animals are his favorites, but he’s a toy destroyer if left unsupervised. Training & Mental Stimulation: Smart and eager to please, RJ enjoys learning commands and being rewarded for good behavior. Lounging & Comfort: After a good play session, RJ loves curling up on a cozy dog bed or couch and catching some serious Zzz’s. Affection: He’ll greet you with tail wags and kisses (he’s a big licker!) before settling down with a toy nearby. What RJ Needs: RJ is a special dog who needs a home that can meet his unique needs and provide structure, patience, and love. Home Environment: While he’s lived in an apartment, RJ does best in a house with space to roam and a fenced yard. No Dog Parks: RJ is not a dog park dog and has shown aggression toward male dogs, sometimes unpredictably. He prefers being the alpha and does best with female dogs his size or larger. No Cats or Small Animals: He has a strong prey drive and should not be placed in a home with cats or other small pets. No Young Children: RJ has growled at children who tried to pet him on walks and hasn’t lived with kids, so a child-free home is best. Supervised Toy Time with Other Dogs: Due to resource guarding (mostly over toys and chews), RJ should be in a home where toys aren’t left out and where there are no other resource guarders. Secure Fencing & Leash Use: RJ doesn’t have reliable recall and should never be off-leash unless in a secure area. He’s athletic and could potentially scale a low fence if tempted by a squirrel. Companionship: RJ has strong separation anxiety and does best with another dog in the home—ideally a calm, confident female- and/or a home with owners who work from home and are present regularly. He loves to be a member of the "pack". Car Rides & Crating: RJ is a great passenger and enjoys car rides! He is crate trained and is used to being put in his crate at night. The Ideal Home for RJ: RJ is looking for a committed, experienced dog owner who understands behavioral needs and is ready to give him the structure and love he deserves. He’s not a beginner dog, but for the right person or family, he’ll be an incredibly loyal and rewarding companion. If you’re active, patient, and ready to welcome a dog who will love you fiercely and keep you on your toes, RJ might just be your perfect match.

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Sultan! Sultan is a 6-month-old, 23 lb Cattle Dog/Shepherd mix puppy who is as sweet and lovable as they come. This happy boy is full of puppy charm and ready to find a home to grow up in! Sultan is playful, goofy, and full of life. He loves going on walks, exploring the world, and being by his people’s side. He’s eager to please, treat-motivated, and already showing great potential to grow into an amazing companion with continued training. He’s also wonderful with people and has a sweet, affectionate nature that makes him easy to love. As a young puppy, Sultan will need all the structure, guidance, and consistency that comes with raising a dog—training, socialization, and lots of positive experiences to help him become his very best self. Story
Foster or forever home needed! Meet Hansel! This handsome 3-year-old, 55–60 lb Husky/Cattle Dog mix is the perfect blend of fun-loving energy and loyal companionship. He and his sister came from a rescue in California after being found tied to a tree as puppies — but he hasn’t let that rough start dim his bright, happy spirit. He’s an outgoing, friendly boy who loves to stay active. Whether it’s hiking, running, or exploring new trails, he’ll happily be by your side for every adventure. With his smarts and energy, he’ll thrive in a home that keeps him both mentally and physically engaged. True to his Husky side, he’s quite the escape artist! He’ll need a secure 6-foot wood fence and should not be left unsupervised in the yard, as he’s been known to find his way out of outdoor kennels and yards. He can be selective with other male dogs, but does well with calmer female companions. With continued obedience training and proper socialization, he’ll blossom even more into the incredible dog he’s meant to be. If you’re looking for a loyal, adventurous, and affectionate partner to join your active lifestyle, this sweet boy might just be the perfect match! Hansel is neutered, microchipped and UTD on shots. His adoption fee is $500.

FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Raccoon! Raccoon is a 1½-year-old, 18 lb Australian Cattle Dog who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter. This handsome boy is sweet, sensitive, and full of potential! Raccoon is a loving pup who can be a bit shy at first and is still building his confidence. Coming from a more rural environment, he can be a little unsure of busy city life and loud noises, so he would do best in a home outside of the city where he can feel more at ease. He does well with other dogs and would benefit from a confident canine companion to help show him the ropes. He’s gentle with people and enjoys being close—he’ll even happily let you carry him when he’s feeling unsure. As Raccoon settles in and gains confidence, his fun, spunky cattle dog personality really starts to come out. He has that classic working-breed intelligence and energy, and he’ll thrive in a home that can provide both mental and physical stimulation. He’d make an excellent hiking or adventure buddy and will happily keep up with an active lifestyle. Because of his sensitive nature, Raccoon is looking for a home without young children and with adopters who understand working breeds and are committed to helping him continue to grow. With patience, structure, and love, Raccoon is going to blossom into an incredibly loyal companion! If you’re looking for a smart, active, and sweet dog to grow with, Raccoon might just be your perfect match! Raccoon is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet this fluffy boy, Kiko! He is a 7-year-old, 50 LB Australian Shepherd mix who came to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA. Kiko is a sweet, energetic boy who loves to be outside exploring. He is active and would love a forever home that will exercise him daily and provide him an active lifestyle. He would also do best in a standalone home with a fenced yard to explore, preferably outside the city. Kiko has done well with other dogs in our care and would be a great additional dog in a home. He would also do fine as an only dog, soaking up all the love and attention. Kiko is a very strong boy, and will require adopters that are able to handle his strength. He is also incredibly smart and eager to learn, which will make training a blast! Kiko is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $400.

Story
FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Stetson! Stetson is a 2-year-old, 62 lb Australian Shepherd/Collie mix who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter in CA. He’s a big, sweet, teddy-bear of a dog with a beautiful coat and looking to be someone’s next adventure buddy! This handsome boy is smart, treat-motivated, and very active. He’ll need an adopter with herding-breed/large dog experience who’s excited to work with him mentally and physically. Stetson enjoys training, loves being with his people, and would thrive in a home that offers daily exercise, structure, and continued training! Stetson does well with other dogs and would enjoy having a canine sibling, but he could also do well as an only dog as long as his adopters commit to continued socialization. He’s strong and fast, and while he walks well on leash most of the time, he can pull when excited. He can also be mouthy and jump up when overstimulated, so a home with no small children is recommended — dog-savvy kids 12+ could possibly be okay. When he’s not on the move, Stetson loves rolling around in the grass, soaking up attention, and just being close to his people. He’s affectionate, goofy, and deeply loving ~ a loyal companion for the right active home! Stetson is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.
