Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Meet Sundae! She is loyal, happy, has boundless energy, is incredibly smart and is alert and wary of strangers. This girl is a herding breed dog who would love a home outside of the city on acreage where she can have a job to do. She is not for the sedentary dog owner. She loves to walk the perimeter of her property and in typical herding dog fashion will redirect people and alert them once she's familiar with her boundaries. Due to her herding breed, she has an irresistible impulse to herd, anything: cars, dogs, kids, etc. so an adult only home would be best for her. Sundae bonds deeply with her person and can be protective of them. She will need to be in a home where there is strong leadership. She can be reactive or show guarding behavior in stressful situations that she feels are 'threatening' to her person. She can also redirect in these situations or when displaying her herding instincts. She will need a firm hand and strong supervision when there is a lot of stimulation. She has her challenges, but she is incredibly loving and loyal to her people. She is spayed, current on her shots and micro-chipped. Her adoption fee is $150.

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Meet Bandit! He is a 3-year-old, 55 lb Australian Cattle Dog mix who is looking for his forever home. He is a very happy, friendly, intelligent boy. He is playful and has lots of energy and LOVES to play with balls. He knows basic commands and he would make a wonderful running partner and loyal companion. Bandit would love a home outside of the city with a fenced yard to run around in. He will need to be an only dog where he can get all of the love and attention. He can be jumpy, so we don't recommend a home with small children. Bandit is neutered, microchipped and UTD on vaccines. His adoption fee is $450.

Story
FOSTER/FOSTER-TO-ADOPT: Meet Bowie! Bowie is a 4-year-old, 60 lb Cattle Dog mix who has not had the easiest life and came to us as a confiscation/cruelty case from CA. Despite his rough start in life, he is a great example of how dogs live in the moment, and he is a sweet boy with a good disposition. He would love an active family who will take him for walks and on adventures. He can be a strong puller but walks pretty well on a leash with an easy walk harness. He is a sweet boy who knows basic obedience and takes treats gently. Bowie has done well with other dogs in our care but can be excitable when meeting other dogs so a neutral dog in the home would be best or he would be fine as an only dog as well. He would love a home with a securely fenced yard for him to run, play and lounge around. Bowie is up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. His adoption fee is $450.

He is very sweet, friendly, and trusting. He listens well, is very smart, and embodies your typical healer traits of bonding deeply and quickly with his person. He will need an active adopter who is familiar with herding breeds. He gets along well with other dogs but can be intense which might be off putting to some dogs. He would love to have another active dog in the home that he can run and play with. He will make a loyal companion for any lucky adopter. Zorro is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $450.

Animal Profile: Ames is an approximately 1-year-old, 40 lb neutered cattle dog mix that joined us from New Mexico on 12/4.  The shelter there says he is good with dogs and kids. Foster Update: Ames is a shy at first but incredibly loyal pup who loves to play tug and fetch when he’s not snoozing the day away. This handsome boy has a playful yet gentle demeanor and is good with other dogs – Ames is looking for a home with a balanced confident dog sibling to help show him that the world isn’t scary. Ames would benefit from a confident adopter who knows how to help him build his confidence -- coddling his insecurities will only amplify them, so he needs firm upbeat leadership. As soon as he gets comfortable, his friendliness and curiosity know no bounds. Ames is food motivated and a fast learner, picking up on commands like sit, lie down, touch, spin, and shake. He’s a Velcro dog filled with endless love for his chosen humans and is ready to share that love with his new family. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Story
Animal Profile: Dodger is a male Cattle Dog mix (best guess) estimated to be 5 months old. He and his siblings were owner surrendered to a small, rural shelter in Texas, who reached out to our rescue partner, Second Chance Rescue for help. They have now joined us in the PNW to find their forever homes.  Foster Update: This goofy, easygoing boy is full up to his floppy ears with puppy energy.  He's a big time toy boy, who loves to chomp on any play thing (and sometimes, briefly, non-play things) whether they're soft and squeaky or chewy and firm. Got a ball? He would love to chase it. An interesting stick in your backyard? He would be very content to gnaw it in the sun.  He's doing great with potty training and crate training. He doesn't seem to understand what a walk is or, frankly, have any interest in going on one, so he's going to need some work to learn to accompany you on a leash farther than your front yard. The good news is, he is very food-motivated and responds very quickly to gentle correction, so he is likely to take well to training. Given his energy and quickness, we're confident he'll be a good pal for hikes or jogs eventually.  He's not outspoken at all. In fact, the only times we've heard him growl or bark are when he's seen his own reflection or struggled to figure out how to get a treat out of a Kong. He's been very gentle and loving with kids ranging from ages 6-9. He can be very timid around new people and unfamiliar sounds, but warms up quickly.  He's doing great as a solo act in our house, but might benefit from having another dog to teach him how to dog. He may think he's a people and will often sit upright next to you like a real human boy. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog is being transferred from Second Chance our partner in Texas and arriving via Paws Up Rescue on 02/19/2024 to the Seattle area. This dog will be fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption once evaluated in foster care.March 27, 2024, 12:20 pm

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Say hello to Lincoln! He is a very high energy, active and sweet 2-year-old, 40 lb Australian Shepherd. He is a happy boy and loves to get attention from his people! He will do great with a family that understands herding dogs and their needs. He can be strong willed and is still working on basic obedience and will need a family that will continue his training. He is working on not jumping up and mouthing right now so he needs an adult only home or a home with kids over 14. He is super sweet, but he has a lot of happy and unfocused energy. He is very smart and will thrive with training. He would love to be in a home in a suburban or rural neighborhood with a securely fenced yard for him to run and play. He will do best in a home where someone is home much of the time. He likes other dogs but can play very rough with them and would rather spend time with his humans so for that reason we are looking for a home for him as an only dog or with another dog who is able to handle his rough play. He will need an adopter that will keep him physically and mentally active and would make a great jogging or adventure buddy. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $450.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Meet Fury! He is a 9-year-old, 55 lb Blue Merle AKC registered Australian Shepherd who was surrendered to us as his owner could no longer care for him. Fury loves to be petted, pampered and groomed. He likes to play by himself with soccer balls and plushie toys, he tosses then around and chases them independently. He loves to lounge in the sunshine. Fury would like to find himself his very own retirement home where he can be an only dog with his own securely fenced yard to relax in during the day, and a cozy kennel at night. He would do best in a home where he can be the only pet. He walks well on a leash for the most part but can be leash reactive and he does not care for other male dogs or dogs who get in his face on leash. He will lunge at cars that pass by as his herding breed instinct takes over. For this reason, he would do best in a quiet suburban or rural neighborhood. He’s been gentle with the young child in his previous home under supervision but nips at the butts of anyone who runs next to him so it is recommended that he goes to an adult only home or with children over 12. When feeding time comes around, he acts as if he is going to be food aggressive/possessive by growling and sounding scary but is really just a marshmallow with no follow through. Fury is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $350.
