Story
Meet Sport, the handsome and energetic cattle dog who's always ready for an adventure and eager to be by your side as much as possible. Sport is approximately five years old and weighs 40lbs. A recent DNA test has discovered him to be 100% Australian Cattle Dog! Sport loves playing ball and even knows how to toss it back to you. He thrives with a predictable daily routine and, when he's not engaged in activities, enjoys lounging on his comfy bed. Sport has been making great progress on his reactivity to dogs and men. He's shown that he can quickly warm up to people and is improving with other dogs. He's even been able to visit pet stores and shop with his foster. Sport would do best in a home that enjoys activities like horseback riding, kayaking, backpacking, day hikes, and daily jogs. He's the perfect workout partner and adventure companion. Sport loves cuddles and attention once he’s mentally and physically satisfied. If not challenged, he’ll find ways to entertain himself, like tossing his ball at you! Playing fetch is Sport's absolute favorite. Sport may enjoy a home with a small dog companion, though it may take time for them to build a strong relationship. He needs a family committed to continuing his training, and his foster and a training consultant will provide guidance on what he has learned. Sport's ideal adopter will have a fenced yard, plenty of tennis balls, and no children under 16, as he can be too energetic for smaller children. He’s not suited for a home with cats, as he finds them too interesting and fun to chase. Sport is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on his core vaccines. He is being fostered in Tacoma, WA. If you're ready for an adventurous and loyal companion, Sport is waiting to meet you! Adoption Process: - Adoption Application - Phone Conversation - Meet & Greet - Home Visit - Application Approval - Adoption Fee & Contract ($290) Our adoption application is available at pnwcdr.org/adopt.

Story
“My name is Pendleton, and I like warm hugs!” Pendleton is a 4-year-old, fun-sized (40 lb.) Australian cattle dog: the perfect blend of post-puppy energy and adult dog “chill”. This affectionate and loyal boy is looking for a forever home that will provide him with stability and love, and in return he will adore you and everyone that enters your home. Pendleton is athletic and loves to play fetch and chase, but don’t let his liveliness fool you; he is completely content to cuddle with his people in between spurts of play. He is an extremely affectionate boy towards his humans and has not met a person he does not like – to include children. However, Pendleton likes to jump and give hugs, and so he would likely do best in a home without very small children. We do not know much about Pendleton’s history prior to his arrival at PNWCDR, but he is very fearful of other dogs (and apparently cats) and is dog-reactive, especially when he is on a leash. Therefore, he needs a home without other animals. Pendleton would make a great outdoor adventure buddy and is well-suited for the Pacific Northwest lifestyle (hiking, running, etc.). He is extremely smart and is responding well to training, and he might enjoy agility or other work-oriented activities. Pendleton will be seeing a behavioralist about coping strategies and potentially medication to help him confront his fear of other dogs. The ideal adopter would have the patience required for him to continue his decompression and transition to a new home and be willing to continue his training to reduce reactivity to scary stimuli. He is up to date on his age-appropriate core vaccinations, neutered, house-trained, microchipped, and doing great learning his common commands. Pendleton knows how to “sit”, go to his “bed”, “wait”, and he comes to his name. He will even sit and wait before being released to eat his breakfast and dinner! Pendleton is currently being fostered in Spokane, WA and the adoption fee is $390. If you are interested in meeting Pendleton, please fill out an adoption form on our website: pdwcdr.org/adopt. Please note we do not do DNA testing on our foster dogs; the breed description is our best guess based on appearance. Adoption process: • Adoption Application • Phone Convo • Meet & Greet • Home Visit • Application Approval • Adoption Fee & Contract Pendleton is: altered, up to date with routine shots, house trained, might not be suitable for a home with small children.

Story
Trinks was saved from an overcrowded high kill shelter in Roswell, NM. She is approx 1 year 4 months old.  Dog Name: Trinks Good with dogs? Will need slow very careful introductions but would do best in a home without another pup Good with kids? Yes, she loves people of all ages Good with cats? Unknown but due to her high prey drive, she would probably do best as an only pet Has experience on a leash? She is doing very well at leash training. Occassionally she will pull if there is a critter she'd like to chase or someone she would like to say hi to.  Potty trained? Yes  Crate trained? Yes, Trinks is very comfortable in her crate and it’s her safe space. She doesn’t mind one bit hanging out in her crate while we are gone.  Where does the dog stay when it is home alone? Crate Where does the dog sleep? Crate  What does the dog eat? She is currently eating open nature turkey formula (with grains). She loves freeze dried beef liver and freeze dried duck treats the most.  Temperament/Personality: She is energetic and loves to carry toys around the house. She loves people and has been super friendly with everyone she has met and immediately wants to be pet by them.  What does the dog's ideal home look like? Ideally she will live in a house with a yard so she can run non stop. She enjoys bounding in the yard and playing with her people. She will need active owners. She enjoys a good bone after play time and loves to cuddle on the couch. She would probably do best in a home with no other dogs. She seems to be very intimidated by bigger dogs.  What are the dog's strengths? Loves to play and very good with people.  What is the dog still working on? What can they improve? She is selectively dog reactive, when we’re out walking some dogs she starts growling at and others she ignores. She seems to be most reactive towards dogs bigger than her. She is working on pottying outside. She gets so excited and distracted that she forgets to go. If your foster were a celebrity, who would they be? Some crazy Diva type   If your foster dog were on a dating site, what would their profile say?  I love outdoor adventures and wish I could spend all day walking running or hiking around. I need activities to put my mind to work and have a hard time staying still for too long.  Beach or Mountains? Mountains, Trinks would make a great hiking companion. She loves sniffing trees and plants and would probably do great on trails. Squeaky/Bouncy/Chewy, what do they look for in a toy? She loves to rip up toys but we noticed she swallows some of the pieces so we have been giving her Kongs and she loves chewing on those and getting treats out of them.  Complete this sentence “My foster wishes they had a friend with whom they could share many outdoor adventures.” What’s your foster’s favorite dessert? Everything! Trinks has not met a treat she did not like. She is extremely food motivated.   Trinks did great at the park! She was curious and social saying “hi” to new people. She observed ducks and other dogs at the park quietly. She is an adorable petite size and is even smaller in real life than her photos portray.  When she’s excited, she does full-body wiggles of joy, little happy tippy-taps, and her ears pop up and down.  Although she is a little demure, she is SO very sweet and quick to trust. She will snuggle up quickly and seeks love and affection even from strangers.  She loves doing sniffy-walks but also redirects well. She will also come and “check in” with people during her walks, asking for snuggles and hugs. She gives gentle kisses and likes men, women, and children.  She takes high value snacks politely. She also rides very nicely in cars and is an excellent passenger.  After her walk, she appreciated being wrapped up in a fuzzy blanket and sitting in a lap.  Adoption $350 www.northwestwagrescue.org ##2065634##
