Story
Kaia Bear is one special lady, searching for her special family! This darling 9-year-old Cattle Dog mix is ready to set off on her new adventure. And she hopes it involves hiking and exploring! Kaia Bear is a big fan of being outside, sniffing all there is to sniff, feeling the sun on her fur, and getting her steps in. Not only does she make an amazing adventure buddy, but Kaia Bear bonds strongly to her people and makes an amazing best friend and cuddle buddy to keep you company at home. Kaia Bear enjoys sitting in her person's lap, getting pets, and playing fetch with tennis balls. And of course, showing off her cool tricks! Kaia Bear will likely do best and be easiest to manage being the only dog in the home. Kaia Bear needs a home without cats or other small animals. Kaia Bear is looking for a quiet, adult only home with a fenced yard (no apartments, please) she can zoom around and sunbathe in. If you think Kaia Bear may be your match, reach out to us today! Kaia Bear's adoption fee is waived in thanks to a generous donor and our Pay it Forward program. **Kaia Bear's adoption process is a little different than our usual process. She will need several meet and greets (both in shelter and at your home) before going home to stay. Please email adoption@homewardpet.org if you're interested in learning more about Kaia Bear!**

Story
Animal Information:  Lelo is  an estimated 13 week old female Cattle Dog/Terrier X. She  arrived at Caddo Parrish Animal Services in Louisianna as a stray along with her siblings Moe & Remi as strays so not much is know about her background.  We were asked to take them by our rescue partner Tail Lights Rescue Project and couldn't say no.They are now out of the shelter in a loving foster home awaiting transport to the PNW. Foster Profile: Lelo is an expressive and cheerful girl who will show and tell you exactly how she feels. She loves when you sing to her, and doesn’t even care if you’re off-key. But she’ll also groan like a teenager about things that annoy her, like an empty food bowl or the rain and cold on a walk! Aside from that and her playful growls when shaking the toy of her latest obsession, she’s not very vocal and only really barks when startled. When walking on her leash she’s mostly uninterested in the other dogs she passes. Lelo considers her crate a safe space and chews her teething toys there during the day, eagerly awaiting meal time (which she also enjoys in her crate). She’s taken well to house training and sleeps in her crate through most of the night, using expressive groans to let us know when it’s time for a quick potty break. If it’s raining, cold, and windy, she gets quite moody about being outside, shivering and whining… but this inspires her to get her business done very quickly, after which she’s ready to be back inside. The Seattle weather can certainly take some credit for house training this doll! Lelo behaves well around cats and other dogs and would do just fine in a household with either, as long as she had her own space or crate to retreat to when needed. Her routine includes a lengthier morning walk after breakfast to help her exercise and expend energy, alternating between naps, potty breaks, and chewing her toys during the day, a nice dinner in her puzzle feeder and final potty breaks before tucking in for the night - which she typically does on her own when ready. lelo would love a home with a securely fenced yard and a canine companion to play with or an active family that can meet her exercise needs. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, heartworm test, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian. Story
Animal Information: I would like to introduce you to Riley, who will be joining us from Eastern Washington along with his two brothers. Riley is a 11-week-old Cattle Dog/Terrier mix from an accidental litter. When our rescue partner reached out for help in placing some of the puppies we couldn't say no. The brothers are waiting for their freedom ride to Bothell, They are scheduled to arrive on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2026.  Foster Profile: Meet Riley. Aside from his adorable markings and light-colored eyes, he is exceptionally intelligent and gets along well with all my animals (two cats and a dog). He has a gentle and loving personality with the perfect amount of playfulness. He listens when he’s told not to do something and even likes to fetch. For being only 10 weeks old, he is doing very well with potty training; as long as he is taken out, he goes potty outside every time with very few accidents. He is now used to being on a leash in my yard, and I have successfully got him used to his crate at night and for about 2–3 hours during the day. Honestly, he will make a phenomenal housemate. From what I can tell, he would do well with any home that has time to continue his training, though I don't think he's ready to be left in a crate for longer periods while he is so young. Having raised my own dogs from puppies and helped multiple family members with training, I can confidently say he is truly one in a million. He is a great little guy and I will miss him a lot! We are looking for a home with a securely fenced yard and family willing to continue is training. We are not considering apartments for Riley or his siblings. Story
Sweet sweet sweet dog. Our family is heartbroken to let him go but it for his best. We fell on hard times financially and am not able to give him the life he deserves. We planned on fencing off our yard but are not able to. He likes to give chase to deer and runs up to people barking. He has never bitten anyone but he comes of scary running up to people so we don't chance it. Unfortunately we keep him leashed up so we don't have to constantly get him to come back. His recall is lacking when he gets focused on something of interest. He needs a fenced in yard or a farm to run free. We have 2 kids and 3 cats and he is great with them all. My kids are 16 and 10 so I would recommend him being rehomed to a family that isnt any younger. Like I said, I feel bad that he can't run free and be a dog. He needs the exercise.
