Suddenly moving this April into a senior living apartment – downsizing by 70% from house/garden in greenbelt environment! Unsuited to the new environment: Zags (Gonzaga) our beloved Heeler aka Aussie Cattle Dog Zags got rescued at age 4 by a BC/ Aussie/ACD volunteer who later could no longer foster. Residual PTSD from pre-rescue dog/woman-abuse: Zags is still “stranger-danger” wary and fear-aggressive encountering neighborhood-dog aggression. But cuddly / affectionate in his 5 years with us. Dog Ranch staff have commented on his affectionate personality when boarding during trips flying to New England family. Spouse can’t remember to avoid triggering Zags’ startle reflex: approaches while he’s gobbling supper, or “threatens” by waving phone or TV remote. But they still hang out contentedly together watching TV in the family room. We’ll bring Zags mid-March to Ashland OR, and could bring his stuff if hand-off gets set up: his crates+cushions (hard-side + collapsible), new toys etc

Meet Tony Stark Super smart, high energy, loving and playful - he's all that and more! If you're looking for a sidekick to share your active lifestyle, Tony Stark would love to meet you. A kind person found this scared pup when he was dumped on a country road in Central Washington in summer 2023, They asked us to find him a great forever home ... and he's been in our care ever since. Tony really likes people. He is friendly and polite to adults and older kids. He hasn't been exposed to young children while in our care, and he may be a little bouncy for timid or very small children, but would probably do well with kids who are kind and understand good manners around dogs. He shares his foster home with several dogs and does well with them. He's playful and friendly with well-mannered dogs. However, he is not safe with cats or other small prey animals. This agile, athletic boy has loads of energy and enjoys life to the last drop - especially hikes and playtime. He would probably be a great companion even on challenging hikes, or to cheer you on during your daily run or bike ride. But once he's had his daily workout and had an opportunity to use his brain, he's the best snuggle-buddy, with a plush, soft coat that's a delight to pet. Tony needs a human who will love that he's very smart and highly trainable, because he really, really loves to learn. This is not a dog who can spend the rest of his life hanging out in your backyard; he's exceptionally smart, and is looking for someone who is interested in advanced training, or who enjoys plenty of stimulating hikes, games and adventures. He enjoys rough-housing with friendly dogs of compatible size, hanging out with his human, exploring new places, learning new things, playing chase, chomping down on bones and chews, and figuring out puzzle games. He needs a secure yard - although he doesn't go over fences, he will open doors and gates if they're not well secured. However, he doesn't wander - he's just curious about what's out there. Generally Tony is quiet (apart from excited play-growls). He may bark when someone comes to the door or if he sees something suspicious. Tony's house manners are generally good. He's polite, he's house-trained and crate-trained, and he waits for an invitation before he gently jumps up to give you a hug. However he's young and he does have a few bad habits. He'll chew when bored - and if you don't provide something he wants to chew, he'll find something he likes. His recall is excellent, and he walks well on a leash. He knows a lot of commands, including sit, stay, come, back up, wait, leave it, kennel, outside, inside, load up, let's go, spin and shake. Tony has been neutered, microchipped, treated for external and internal parasites, and is up to date on vaccinations. His estimated date of birth is 6/15/2023, and he weighs around 55 lbs. Basic Information * With People: Tends to be shy, and avoids and hides from people when nervous. Though she still feels uncomfortable, she does accept pets even from strangers if they touch her slowly. Is docile and accepts being touched once she becomes familiar with you. You should wait for her to build up trust. * With Dogs: Gets along well with other dogs, even new ones. Will even approach first and play with canine friends that she likes. Rather, she tends to follow from behind without pulling on the leash. Doesn’t get excited when she sees other animals like dogs, cats, or birds. Sometimes tries to bolt to get away from people during walks, so using a double leash is a must! * Likes: Likes other dog friends and enjoys spending time with them. * Dislikes: Is scared when people suddenly try to touch her, or if they make large movements.
