Story
Pongo is being fostered in Ringwood IL Meet Pongo!  He is a black tri with a tail, Australian Shepherd Border Collie mix.  His momma was in rescue with her litter of pups and is a 35lb. black tri Aussie.  Daddy was a Border Collie that was 40-45lbs.  Pongo's date of birth is 2/11/2025 so at 11 months old, he is still learning about the world and would LOVE a positive other doggie role model in his forever home and a mom or dad that would be willing to keep socializing him with new things.  Pongo doesn't immediately trust everyone he meets and is a bit on the cautious side because he lacked this socialization as a youngster, while he greets well, his trust is earned quickly through food and toys.  Once he feels safe, he is a great boy! Pongo Pongo is curious, brave, loves snuggles and is super smart!  He loves to love and he loves to learn.  He already knows, sit, down, go in (for his crate) come, wait, he waits at the door to be released with an OK, he is just a quick learner and so eager to please his human. Pongo is a sweet and sensitive boy that will need a forever home that is patient, will use all positive reinforcement with him, be breed savvy and be a calm leader for him.  Once given the time to trust, he will blossom into a good boy!  If you have never had an Australian Shepherd or a Border Collie, we highly recommend doing some research before thinking this breed is for you.  While they are absolutely adorable, they will need to work and have jobs or they can become destructive when bored and display some undesirable behaviors. Pongo  is going to need a home that will continue his socialization with the world around him.  Without proper positive continued socialization Aussies can become guard dogs and a little insecure (Border Collies) about the world around them.  We recommend continued positive socialization throughout their entire lives!  Pongo is being fostered with other dogs, loves to run, play and chase.  He just started learning fetch.  He is food and toy motivated, eager to please and just a total goofball. Pongo and his exuberance need older children in the home; we recommend children over 14.  Pongo is potty trained and crate trained, a little overexcited on leash at the beginning of the walk, but settles in nicely once you get going.  He LOVES to sniff on walks!!!!! He is also a little mouthy because he is still so young, but we are working on that in foster care.  He rides very well in the car.  He would LOVE a fenced yard to run and play in, but as long as he has an outlet for his energy like classes, running, etc, he would be ok without a fence, but DAILY mental and physical exercise is a MUST for this youngster! He will need a MINIMUM of 2-3 hours of exercise throughout the day.  He is currently enrolled in tricks class at WAG: WI- IL Agility Group in Sopring Grove IL to work on some impulse control and self confidence.  Pongo is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is microchipped, negative for all tick borne diseases, dewormed and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2308420##

Story
Wynter (DOB 12/7/24) is just as beautiful and gentle as her name suggests — sweet, playful, and friendly with everyone she meets. She’s the kind of pup who’s always up for a game of fetch in the yard or a cozy snuggle on the couch. 💙 She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would love a playful canine companion to share her adventures with! Because Wynter can be a little sensitive to noise and commotion, she’s looking for a calmer home with kids 12+ and a secure fenced yard where she can run, explore, and feel safe while being her playful self. Wynter isn’t just another rescue dog — she’s truly something special. With her gentle spirit and big heart, she’s patiently waiting for the family who will love her forever. 🐾 ✨ If you’re searching for a loyal, kind, and fun-loving best friend… Wynter might be your perfect match. 💙 Could Wynter be the missing piece of your family? Fill out an application on our website https://www.tailsoftheforgottenpaws.org/ Wynter was born at our rescue and has only known a life where she is safe, cared for, and loved. However, this girl has never known the comforts of a home! We would love to see Wynter find a foster home, to help her transition into her happily ever after! (And if that foster turns into forever we’d love that for her too!). If you’ve ever thought about fostering, please reach out to our rescue! Wynter has committed to bring endless cuddles, and laughter, can you provide the love? We’ll take care of the rest!

Story
Meet Cosmo! Cosmo is a very friendly Border Collie who loves his toys and has lots of energy. He’s still learning how to walk on a leash and is adjusting to new things like cars and seeing other dogs, but he’s doing well with these transitions. Cosmo does best with a consistent schedule to help avoid any indoor bathroom accidents. He would be a great fit for an active home with people and/or dogs to play with and keep him engaged. Cosmo is current on vaccinations. Location: Palos Heights, IL Contact: seanoh25@gmail.com

Story
Barney is a 3yr old border collie mix, he came to us on October 18th from a shelter in KY. He spent the last 8 months in the shelter and supposedly hasn't seen sun or grass in those 8 months. When he arrived there he was feral and no one could touch him because he was so shut down and scared. After gaining trust with one of the volunteers, he slowly came around and has blossomed into an incredible boy. He is a very friendly and loving dog. He loves going on walks and exploring. He is a little cautious when approaching new surroundings. He will slowly investigate and determine a course of action. He is the same when meeting new people. He loves to play with tugs and acts as if he is still a puppy. Barney needs work with basic commands but knows "no" and "leave it". He doesn't know "heal", but he is a dream on a leash, and doesn't pull or lunge. He loves to play with people or other dogs. He has been on walks and encountered deer, cats, dogs and has had no reactions. Saw a squirrel and did want to chase it, but did not pull. He would be a perfect companion for a house with or without dogs as long as there was plenty of time for him to be with people. Barney is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and neutered. He is currently being treated for hookworms, lyme and ehrlichia. Get your application in on this guy ASAP as you will not want to miss out on such a sweet boy! Please visit Barney and his friends on our website. https://www.midwestbordercollierescue.org/alldogs

Story
Buddy here checking in to say HELLO! I am a 2-3 year old 45 lb TANK! I'm not a big guy - just solid muscle. I love to romp and play with my foster siblings. This snow is so fun! I even love rolling in it. I get along with both male and female dogs. I don't know about cats, but my foster mom thinks that it's a possibility I would be curious but not harmful. I am a really good boy in the house. I am quiet - unless my foster pals bark for the amazon guy - then I bark too but when my foster mom says 'quiet', we all stop the nonsense. I'm kind of a follower - so it's really their fault that I bark! I sleep in my kennel and keep it clean, always. I have free reign of the house when they are home and am a good boy. I mostly follow my people from room to room and look for directions on what to do. I am slowly learning what toys are and am having fun chasing them when thrown. I like moving them around the house, especially taking them to my kennel. It's a fun little game I play. When I am tired, I like to tucker out in the living room snuggled up on a bed or up against the couch. Sometimes I also lay by my foster moms feet when she is working. I'm rather chill inside the house but like to run around and get my zoomies out when outside. I really like my foster family but prefer the girls over the boys. My past life was awful - I don't want to talk about it but all I can say is that a not so nice man was NOT nice to me. I am working hard to trust men but I am worried I will get hurt again. My foster dad and son are really cool - they get down to my level, talk softly and kindly, take me out to play, feed me and I even get yummy treats from them that no one else gives me. Even though they are really cool - I am still a little cautious with them and just go slow. I would love to meet you - especially if you have other dogs for me to play with! I am looking for a soft landing where I can be loved unconditionally and hope you will understand that it will take some time for me to warm up and trust you. Fostered in Northern IL Contact: Team@midwestbordercolliesrescue.orgd to be neutered. Please visit Buddy and his friends on our web page https://www.midwestbordercollierescue.org/alldogs

Story
Wrigley is a happy, high-energy pup with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging! Always ready to greet you with a big smile, he’s never met a person he didn’t adore. Whether it’s belly rubs, long walks, or tug-of-war with a favorite chew toy, Wrigley brings enthusiasm to everything he does. He’s also been doing an amazing job with his training and would thrive in a home that can continue helping him build on that success. He can be a little overzealous when meeting new dogs, but once the ice is broken, he’s the most loyal playmate around. For that reason, Wrigley would do best in a home with a fenced yard and another large, playful dog to romp around with.  If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate, and fun-loving companion who’s ready to be your adventure buddy and cuddle partner, Wrigley might just be your perfect match!   Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person.
