Timber is a very smart dog she’s been trained to sit and she’s house trained, played with families and friends dogs very well. She’s loved around the house and will be missed but with school and work it’s hard for me to get her out and let her live and I would rather her have a family that can make that happen, I hate to let her go but I’d rather her have a more better life in a better environment.

Story
Cosmo’s original owner had him surrendered to a rescue due to multiple felony animal abuse charges against him because of how he treated Cosmo. We fostered Cosmo when he was a year and an half old. We adopted about a year later because we wanted to make sure he got a life filled with love.Cosmo is playful, affectionate, and loves belly rubs. He’s fine with cats. Would prefer to be the only dog. And doesn’t like children. Hate boxes. Definitely an inside dog. He’s never bitten anyone. However, he has severe fear-based stranger aggression and body sensitivity. Only barks, growls and, if trigged via petting his head or shoulders, air-snapping. But never at his owners. He actually loves head scratches.We love him deeply and always intended for him to live out his life with us, but we know we cannot safely mix his triggers with an upcoming miracle baby. Plus because he is highly reactive to strangers, standard shelters are not a safe or humane option.

Meet Maui! She is a 11 mo old spayed female Anatolian Shepherd/Siberian husky/Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle dog mix that weighs 27lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 6/25 as she was abandoned. Maui is a beauty with soft, clean fur and docked tail. It appears she was well cared for at one time. She walks well on a leash and takes treats gently. When walking her right leg is a bit stiff, and her gait a bit uneven. She doesn`t let this stop her tho. She gets around well and can`t resist a zoomie in the yard. She has a gentle loving personality and will lay down next to you to be close and cuddly. It`s very clear how wonderful of a loving companion she would be. Living indoors being showered with love and affection is what she dreams of.

Marshall is charming, cheerful, confident, and cuddly! He’s a very attractive dog that appears to have been well taken care of. His coat is a clean, pristine white and very soft. He will definitely turn heads when you walk him through your neighborhood or at the dog park. Marshall is a one-year-old 45 pound Australian Shepherd/Akita mix that was brought into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/6 as a stray. He’s tricolored, and is a medium sized boy. He frolicked joyfully back-and-forth in the shelter yard. He sits for treats and takes them gently. He occasionally jumps on you in order to get close. He gets down when told to do so. So he is well behaved. Besides having some puppy behaviors, he also gives puppy kisses! He’s friendly, frisky, playful, affectionate, and attentive. He walks OK on a leash. He did his business as soon as he got out into the yard.

Meet this smart, bright eyed tricolored beauty named Friday. She is a 10 month old 36 pound mixed breed(possibly Border collie/Australian Shepherd) that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 9/17 as a stray. She’s very clean and it’s obvious she’s been well taken care of. She’s medium sized but then at 10 months will still grow a little more. She’s a delightful girl. She had a real burst of energy when she got out into the yard demonstrating a playful, enthusiastic, fun loving side. However, she soon got tired of the heat and stood by the door. Once she got inside, she decided to chill. She had shown that she was very eager to please. She’s very sweet and affectionate. She already knows the sit, shake and down commands. She’s only been here a short while and has become one of our staff’s favorites. She walked right beside me on the leash. She did her business when she was out in the yard. I was rewarded for spending time with her with tender kisses.
