Story
Meet Daisy Dukes: The Independent Farm Helper Introducing Daisy Dukes, also known as Daisy Collerville. Rescued from a hoarding case, Daisy is a nine-year-old, 60-pound shepherd mix who thrives on having her own space. Although she's feral and prefers to keep her distance from people, she would be a perfect fit for a farm where she can put her excellent perimeter-walking skills to use. Daisy is a natural at keeping predators off your property and would be a valuable asset in a farm setting. She gets along well with chickens and cats, and she's generally good with other dogs. While she's fine with people, she prefers to stay away and enjoy her independence. Given her background and feral nature, Daisy currently lives in boarding due to her fear of people. She would do great on a fenced-in farm where she can roam freely and enjoy the barn life without the risk of wandering off. Daisy is looking for a special sponsor to help cover her boarding costs and ensure she continues to live comfortably. If you have a farm and are looking for a hardworking helper who's good with animals and prefers her own space, Daisy Dukes is your girl. If you're interested in sponsoring Daisy and helping her live a safe and happy life, please consider supporting her today. Story
Berne, means 'bear-like' and this boy is so cute and has the waddle of a bear! As cute as he was we noticed something else was going on with this boy besides being a tail-less wonder. His back end seemed smooshed. We got him checked out, after x-rays and evaluation he has a compressed spine. This is common in some breeds. We don't know his breed but it will be something he has forever. He is not in pain and still acts like a normal puppy. As he gets a little bigger, we will see if there are any remedies or treatments that might help him but we do suspect he will live a happy life and would be an awesome addition to any family. He may need to be in household with older kids so he doesn't get knocked around. He is potty trained. He is doing great with crate and leash training. He loves tug of war, bully sticks and pestering his older foster siblings. He has spurts of energy a couple times a day, doesn't last long and otherwise very chill! Vet suspects he will get to 30 pounds. This sweet boy was found as a stray in a park. All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Story
Meet Broski: Your Ride or Die Best Friend! Broski is a fun-loving pup who will soon be your BFF! Not a day goes by, where this 3 month old puppy isn't looking to play fetch or to show off his favorite toys. He is still teething, so he loves having durable toys that feel good on his gums. Broski is very dog social and enjoys having a friend to do his zoomies with in the yard. An active family would be a great match for Broski as he has bursts of puppy energy, after his naps. He loves children, but is still a puppy and occasionally needs redirection to not mouth and will need proper supervision around children. Broski is working hard on potty training, but needs a family that will be consistent, patient and positive to ensure his success. Broski was welcomed to DallasDogRRR after being left with an elderly gentlemen that agreed to watch him while his owners went out of town. Upon their return, they never came back for sweet Broski. Luckily, he hasn't given up on humans and wants to show his next family that he is a keeper! Story
Juniper is a gorgeous brindle girl. So sweet, calm, a little shy at first but just looking for that special family where she can let her guard down. Her sweet eyes melt you with their innocence and love. She is friendly and sweet around kids, dogs and all people. She is on her way to being fully potty trained on a schedule, she is working on leash training and doing great. Same with crate training. Very smart girl, ready to show you how quickly she can pick up on commands and being your companion for life. The story of hope. Mom and her 4 boys were dumped in the country. Local landowner, took the mom in, got her spayed and vaccinated. She has found a safe haven with them. The puppies needed a place now. Luckily we had amazing fosters step up to take them in so they too can find a furever home. All four sweet, loving and full of fluff! Story
***DFW area only-No Exceptions***   Gina is a 8 weeks old puppy who arrived at LHS after being found stray with significant burns. Gina has been in foster care healing from her wounds and is now ready to find her family. This survivor deserves the best home ever! Gina is a sweet girl who likes to play! She is a loving puppy who loves to play with just about any type of toy. She’s been partial this week to learning how to fetch. Gina loves to play outside but currently needs to wear a doggie shirt to protect her skin from the intense summer sun. She’s working on typical puppy nipping and might not be a good fit for a home with young children. She is very smart and observant so she’s learning manners a little more every day. She is crate trained over night and for short periods during the day. She is working on potty training and is doing well despite being brand new to the process due to her injuries.      Current weight 5.5 lbs Projected weight 40+   We are requesting a donation of $325 for the adoption which includes her spay, three rounds of puppy vaccines, a rabies vaccine, microchip with registration, dewormer and a single dose of heartworm preventative. We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. If you're interested in meeting or adopting her, please complete an application on our website and someone will reach out to you within 48 hours.  https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/   Adopter will take the puppy to an LHS approved vet to be spayed in August of 2024 per the spay/neuter agreement and in accordance with Chapter 828, Texas Health and Safety Code.  *Due to the high volume of applications and inquires for puppies as well as vetting needs, we will not be able to respond to or consider interest from that outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area.  We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Maple was a Covid adoption from Operation Kindness as a puppy, so she is about 4 years old. She is very healthy and is a loving and active dog who believes that everyone is her friend. She is especially happy to meet new people. She also likes to play with other dogs. At the dog park, she likes to run past the other dogs so they will chase her. At home, she likes to play tug of war with her toys. Unfortunately, since I have adopted Maple, I have divorced and live separately from my family in an apartment, and I travel frequently for work. Also, I have arthritis issues in my knees that makes it very difficult for me to walk her frequently enough. Finally, Maple needs plenty of room to run - more than an apartment can offer. Actually, she would be great on a farm or ranch as she is a natural herder, but a decent sized yard will work.

If you are looking for handsome, smart, sweet, as well as dog and people friendly then you might just be looking for Biscuit! Our natural poser is 50 pounds, approximately 16 months old, and a red and cream fluffy beauty!    Biscuit is a confessed toy hoarder and skilled basketball player! He enjoys a good game of fetch and when he tires makes a great office mate. He is, of course, crate, house and leash trained!  Biscuit's forever home needs a fenced yard and another playful dog as well as an adopter home more than not. A working from home parent who enjoys walking their pup is ideal.   To meet Biscuit in person submit our online application at www.DSDA.org/adopt.  * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be home more than not. Vet checks are required! All resident pets in the applicant's home MUST be spayed or neutered, core vaccines up to date and dogs on heartworm prevention to be considered! No exceptions.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. All poisonous plants must be removed from the yard.  DSDA is located in Dallas and requires a home visit on every adoption so only adopt to Dallas and surrounding areas. ##1939723##
