Story
Meet Kody! A thoughtful eight-year-old Australian Shepherd currently in Haltom City, TX, whose tricolor coat and soulful eyes reflect the loyal heart of a pup ready for purpose and connection. Kody is the kind of companion who listens with his whole being and feels deeply, he’s more than just a pretty face with a herder’s instincts; he’s a steady, sensitive soul who longs to bond with his person. While he might not herd sheep, he’s always herding love, sticking close to the one he trusts most. And once you're his person? You're really his! Expect head nudges for butt scratches, quiet companionship, and the joy of being followed around like you're the most interesting thing in the world, because to Kody, you are. Raised in an environment that didn’t quite match his needs, Kody has come a long way. He’s conquered his fear of everyday noises (ice makers are no longer public enemy #1!) and while he still seeks a quiet space during thunderstorms or fireworks, he no longer panics. He’s never had an accident indoors, uses a dog door with ease, and hasn’t touched a trash can, but yes, he may sneak off with a pair of laundry-day undies if left unsupervised. A little mischief wrapped in a well-mannered package! Kody is dog-friendly, with a special connection to a Boxer/Pitbull mix he’s spent time with, and he’s shown calm curiosity around a baby. He has also been around a Dachshund mix, who comically took on the bossy role! Kody took it all in stride, never reacting with aggression. He doesn’t crave toys but will happily destroy a squeaky one in five minutes flat! He knows basic commands like sit, paw, and lay down, and thrives on routine and gentle connection. Car rides longer than a mile or two make him queasy, so he's happiest staying local. This clever boy needs a life filled with structure, activity, and a "job", be it hiking buddy, daily walking partner, or ranch hand in training. He’s known to be a bit of an escape artist, so a secure yard would be highly recommended, along with patient guidance to continue building confidence through positive reinforcement. Could your lifestyle offer Kody the purpose and partnership he's been waiting for? If so, email adopt@joyfulpets.com to meet this remarkable pup ready to start his next chapter with you!

Our listed dogs ARE READY IMMEDIATELY; we only meet with families WHO ARE READY TO ADOPT! IF YOU APPLY and if WE APPROVE YOU it means we are assuming when you meet any of our dogs and fall in love you're ready to ADOPT AND HIM OR HER HOME   The Durant Aussie Paussie 0226 This adorable litter was originally of 10 healthy, happy Mini Aussie-Border Collie pups that were divided between three rescues; we are thrilled that DASH was contacted to bring some of them in! The babies have been cared for by a wonderful DASH foster who is a vet tech in Durant, Oklahoma, and they are available for adoption AS OF TODAY, Feb 4. They will be able to be picked up Friday, February 13 and/or Saturday, February 14th; they’ll be eight weeks and three days old at that time and will have had TWO rounds of boosters, Bordetella dewormer & flea:tick prevention: everything that is appropriate for their age. The videos and photos are adorable — we’ve gotten to follow their progress. They are tiny! They are definitely mini puppies! All three are HEALTHY, ACTIVE, PLAYFUL, CUDDLY AND BOTH DOG AND CAT FRIENDLY since they are little babies The homes we are looking for will have at least one adult who works from home or is not gone from home more than two hours a day for the next several months. Homes with children 10 and older on a case by case basis will be considered. We definitely want houses with yards that have secure privacy, fences or safety fences, (though Rescued Mini Aussies are never to be left out unsupervised) We do love homes that have another dog that’s an age/energy level that Puppy can play with because, as I always say, no matter how fun humans try to be we’re not as fun for a puppy as another dog is! These are babies who will learn a lot of socialization from being with canine-companions. We will consider One-Dog homes, but we will talk to applicants on a case by case basis; we are looking for for people that have appropriate playmates and plans of friends and family that have dogs for socialization. One of the females has been adopted already, but I am posting Dingo & Wombat, the boys, and their sister Little Roo! If you’re interested in one of the pups from the Aussie Paussie please complete the application on the website below THEN TEXT SARA: 214-549-9905 So I can check your application! Thank you! We have other older puppies, six months nine months a year that will also be listed and often. Those are the best choices for some families so please keep them in mind! www.dashdog.org   www.dashdog.org General Info - PLEASE READ! *Our $450 adoption fee is based on the cost of rescuing, transporting and vetting each dog; we do not try to compete on prices with municipal shelters whose funds are paid by the city. Beautiful Bella Bear BELLA BEAR is the sweetest girl! She's extremely smart and she knows how to pick up on cues easily. She it’s so cute and cuddly sometimes she looks like a little bear cub, a perfect snuggle sister for humans or for a male companion dog.     Bella knows several commands, including :  sit, stay, wait, leave it, drop it, go potty, and come here (sometimes, she may give you a paw if you hold your hand out) but she can still be trained because she loves treats!    Bella loves toys that she can destroy, a chew toy from time to time but what she enjoys most of all is a game of fetch! She will not play outside by herself in a backyard -- you MUST come play with her. She does know the difference between her own toys that she can play with and your belongings.   Bella loves walking/jogging on leash alongside her people; she loves being outside for any reason! She loves belly rubs, and in return, loves to give kisses of affection. She loves barking when people walk by the home or the fence - she will always let you know someone is nearby.    Bella isn't territorial for her own space but she will make any place in the house (especially the living room or your bed) her comfort spot unless you train her not to .   Bella enjoys being around dogs that want to play.  She would be really happy to have a companion dog, a large male who’s yelling and fun like her to play with.   Bella is housetrained and she will bark in the middle of the night if she needs to be let outside.   Bella is a great little dog. She’s the perfect size and the perfect energy level to be a companion to people or a family or to a male dog companion.   To apply to adopt sweet BELLA BEAR, please complete the application on our website below then text:   Sara: 214-549-9905 & Kevin: 469-623-3999   So one of us can check your application!   Thank you!   www.dashdog.org General Info - PLEASE READ! *Our $450 adoption fee is based on the cost of rescuing, transporting and vetting each dog; we do not try to compete on prices with municipal shelters whose funds are paid by the city. IF YOU APPLY and if WE APPROVE YOU it means we are assuming when you meet any of our dogs and fall in love you're ready to ADOPT AND HIM OR HER  Sweet Toy-Mini   Sweet little Scarlett is a toy-mini Aussie weighing 12 pounds full grown. This doesn’t mean she’s a toy or an accessory, she’s a dog who’s going to need a lot of love, affection and care.   Little Scarlett was stray in Northern Oklahoma for several weeks; a kind woman who rescues took her in where she probably gave birth to several puppies so she’s needed to recuperate from that to get ready for adoption!   Scarlett is tiny but she’s also a little pistol! When she’s comfortable, she’ll run around she’ll play she’ll chase another dog.    Scarlett is approximately two years old, according to the vet. Scarlett is very quiet right now she’s not timid or fearful. She’s just taking in another new environment.   Scarlett has been crate, trained, and housebroken; she’s definitely not destructive. She hasn’t shown any interest in toys or chewies, but going from rural Oklahoma to suburban Dallas is definite culture shock. It would be for ME so I can only imagine how little Scarlett feels!   Scarlett needs a calm house; Mini and especially Toy Aussies are better off in a mature home without small children. They are companion dogs more than playmates.    Since Scarlett gets along with other dogs so well blue we would like to have a larger male companion dog for her. Her Foster said that she does have a lot of energy when she wants to play once she is settled in.   If you think Scarlett sounds like a good match for you and your dog, please complete the application on our website below and then    Text Sara: 214-549-9905   So I can check your application and get back to you!  Thank you!  www.dashdog.org General Info - PLEASE READ! *Our $450 adoption fee is based on the cost of rescuing, transporting and vetting each dog; we do not try to compete on prices with municipal shelters whose funds are paid by the city. Story
Meet Jasper! A soulful three-and-a-half-year-old Border Collie/Rottweiler mix currently in Colorado Springs, CO, whose calm, loving heart is wrapped in a stunning 70-pound merle coat. With the gentle spirit of a wise old friend and the quiet loyalty of a true companion, Jasper is the kind of dog who will melt into your side on a cozy evening and follow you room to room just to be close. Jasper thrives in peaceful surroundings and forms deep, meaningful bonds with his people. He does well around children and enjoys their company, but he would do best with calm or older kids who understand boundaries and know how to treat him gently. Loud or high-energy play can make him uneasy, so a respectful home environment will help him feel safe and content. He’s a mellow guy who doesn’t need much to be happy: a soft spot to relax, the comforting presence of his caregiver, and maybe a treat puzzle or two to keep his brain engaged. Food-motivated and clever, Jasper knows a delightful list of commands like sit, stay, paw, spin, and even “middle”, a trick that’s as cute as it sounds! He’s fully house-trained, crate-trained, and perfectly content when left alone, making him a great match for someone who works from home or has a flexible schedule. While Jasper doesn’t require intense exercise, he does enjoy slow, sniffy walks where he can take in the world at his own pace. His favorite pastime? Being in the same room as you, soaking up your presence like sunshine! After being involved in two traumatic incidents with unfamiliar dogs, one when he was a puppy and another more recently, Jasper has developed a strong reactivity to dogs he doesn't know. He may bark or lunge when he sees them, especially near fences or in close proximity, and he continues to work through that with training and patient support. That said, he’s done well with familiar dogs in controlled settings, showing that he can feel safe with the right structure and trust. He’s happiest in a home with a fenced-in yard and a caregiver who values companionship, consistency, and quiet. Loud noises can startle him, but with reassurance, he settles easily. Jasper isn’t just a dog, he’s a constant companion, a quiet presence, and a gentle soul waiting for someone to see the beauty in his sensitive heart. If you’re seeking a loyal, low-key friend who will return your care with quiet affection and soulful eyes, Jasper may just be the one waiting to share your next chapter!
