Story
Meet Chance! A super sweet and lovable guy, ready to accompany you on a journey. This energetic 2-year-old Australian Shepherd hails from the picturesque city of Grand Junction, CO, and he's prepared to travel to his new destination! Chance's zest for life is infectious, and his ideal day is packed with thrilling activities that reflect his spirited personality. From chasing ice cubes as if they're precious gems to turning everyday milk jugs into captivating playmates, Chance's energy knows no bounds. He's a master of the flirt pole, showcasing his agility and determination as he chases both tails and dreams! Through thick and thin, Chance will be your ever-present companion, ready to stand by your side and share in life's adventures. While his energy levels are high, there's a softer side to Chance that shines through, warming hearts. His super-sweet demeanor is a testament to his affectionate nature. Chance finds comfort both indoors and outdoors. He is housetrained, up to date on his vaccinations, and neutered so you can rest assured that he's healthy and ready for your next escapade. Chance is also microchipped and crate-trained. Chance's endearing nature sometimes reveals a touch of timidity, and fear in certain situations that can lead to reactive behaviors such as nipping. It's a challenge he's actively working on, and he's seeking a patient and committed partner who can guide him through this process. Professional training and your dedicated guidance will help Chance overcome these hurdles and transform into the confident and well-adjusted companion he's destined to be. Chance would do best in an environment without children, he also shines as the solo canine star, but with a proper introduction, he may harmonize beautifully with another canine co-star. Chance would also do best with a fenced in yard. Don't miss out on the opportunity to welcome Chance into your life and create a masterpiece of memories together! If you have any questions about Chance, please email adopt@joyfulpets.com!

Story
Meet Jack! A charming 3-year-old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix hailing from Memphis, TN, though he's ready to journey anywhere for his next loving family! This handsome fellow is a bundle of energy and affection, eagerly awaiting a home that understands his unique needs. Jack is a canine dynamo when it comes to playtime! His favorite pastime includes a spirited game of fetch with his frisbee or ball, occasionally punctuated by his excitement over a soccer ball. When not engaged in high-energy antics, he relishes leisurely strolls or invigorating jogs on a leash. However, nothing quite matches the joy he finds in gnawing on his cherished bones. Beyond his playfulness, Jack is a graduate of formal obedience training, boasting an impressive repertoire of commands including "Heel," "Place," "Down," "Stay," "Sit," "Shake," "Roll Over," and "Kennel." His commitment to obedience extends beyond the basics, evidenced by his enrollment in free lifetime Saturday obedience classes at Taming the Wild. This invaluable resource, which will be seamlessly transferred to his new caretaker, underscores Jack's dedication to continuous growth and development! Despite his training, Jack grapples with anxiety around strangers, necessitating medication to help ease his nerves. While not aggressive, his reactive nature warrants a cautious approach, particularly in bustling environments. In terms of routine, Jack thrives on consistency. He adheres to a twice-daily feeding schedule, supplemented with medication administration, and finds solace in his kennel for sleep. Regular walks are a staple in his routine, ensuring he stays both mentally and physically stimulated. Prospective adopters should be aware of Jack's need for a calm and predictable environment, preferably with planned visitors or an understanding of his stranger anxiety. Additionally, his new family must be prepared to continue his medication regimen and provide the love and patience he deserves. Despite his challenges, Jack's endearing qualities shine bright. His intelligence, trainability, and affectionate nature make him a delightful companion for the right family. If you're ready to welcome this sweet and playful pup into your home, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com for more information on making Jack a part of your family!

She is super-sweet cuddly lovergirl with a 7 energy level for play and a nice, even 5 for chilling out with her peeps! Mia is extremely smart and eager to please. She really learns commands and tricks quickly and looks forward to a tasty treat or just good praise as reward. Mia would do best as an only-dog for now. She needs to decompress in her new home and deserves all the devoted-dog attention. When with dogs outside the home she’s a typical sassy young mini female but she really loves to play. She will definitely “play up” so larger, young fun dogs are ideal playmates. Mia needs very experienced breed owners in a medium energy home. She’s a true Aussie in her desire to become bonded with owners quickly but she needs helping learning to balance her preferred role as pet and unnecessary role as guardian of people. Mia is a great size Aussie; she’s either the smallest standard or a large mini at 36 lbs. She could use more walks and exercise and if someone will take her then she will LOVE to go on outdoor adventures. Mia is curious about other dogs on leash walks but is easily corrected with a command or distraction. She’s not aggressive and she’s not a “bark for nothing” type, either! So she’s a great little dog who doesn’t have to make her case known to anyone who will listen Mia LOVES toys, playing ball and chewing on proper chewies; her biggest interest is currently unstuffable toys that make a crackling sound. She is just as easily entertained by a plastic bottle stuck in a crew-sock. Mia’s focus for now is in being the center of attention from humans. She was someone’s only beloved dog and would be find being one again. Her loving owner had to move to a different state and high-rise apt he knew wouldn’t be fun for his little girl. If you’re looking for a spunky sidekick we are looking for a person or couple with herding-breed experience, compassion, patience and time to invest. Jackson has an otherwise-typical Australian Shepherd energy level of 7 to 8 until he settles down for naps and bedtime. He is a happy and smart boy! Jackson loves to be outside, to play fetch, play with any kind of toy, and always has a bone to chew on. He also loves to go on walks, play in water, and have play dates with our neighbor dog. When walking Jack around the neighborhood we are constantly told just how handsome he is. He has not been crated with us, but learned to use a doggy door in 1 day and is potty trained. We are able to leave him in the house when we go to work. Jack does still get excited when his humans get home and still tends to jump up - this will be easily remedied with consistency and training. Recently we have seen some anxiety when we leave the house, and he will bark as we leave and try to go out the door with us but he doesn’t continue to bark long once he knows we are gone. Jack is deaf but he’s not from a double-merle litter; his littermates were all normal only Jackson is deaf. He does have some typical herding/nudging tendencies as expected but is very eager to please and responds well to training. We think a great home for him would be one with outdoor space and plenty of exercise time. Also someone who has experience with deaf dogs or someone that has time to learn and train him would be amazing. Jackson has done well with our children, one of whom is a 4 year old girl that likes to give lots of hugs and no personal space We do not have other dogs but he does well when he encounters them, I think he really craves playmates. We do not have super long work hours, but are gone everyday during the week. Having other dogs home with him while owners are at work would be ideal. Sweet Jack was dumped with his sisters on a farm nearby and we wanted to take him in. After about a month with us we realized he is completely deaf, and although we have tried some professional training we think that someone who has more time to dedicate to this special kind of training would be best for him. From Jack’s Foster Mom: “Jackson loves a bed he can jump up and off fast..lol He adores men; I had to get my car rim replaced at discount tire and he just loved the attention from them. He was like 'what's this? whats that?' His head was swirling he was beaming from attention of all the men! He wanted my bacon and egg taco... he loves his food, anyone's food, so he will be good to train with treat motivation He is good with kids, but I recommend older ones, cats and other dogs.. Jack LOVES toys; as soon as I got him home he pulled out all the dog toys from our toy box! His tail is gorgeous, it's so fluffy and pretty! He is ready for the right Forever Home, there's no need to keep him in my home as a foster because he's quick to learn and should get to begin again in his forever-environment. He has only had one accident inside, he's always waited to go outside - even throughout the night in a new place he's been perfectly potty-trained. The main thing to know is he won’t like the crate at first, it takes some tricks to get him in but after a few days we got it down. His original owners didn’t crate him but we hope to find a home where someone is home more than gone with time to train him more. He just loves being on the bed, lol, like he is the King and the bed is his Kingdom! He loves playing fetch and tug of war. Jack just loves to play, cuddle, be silly and is a loving good boy! Flash is a 1 year old Australian Shepherd - Husky mix who is looking for a young, fun forever home. Flash, like his name, is a fast and agile athletic dog. He loves running and would ne a great, inspiring running partner! Flash is also very playful - he has lived with children and loves them but we would want children with breed experience. Flash has also been great with every dog he meets; he loves playing with other young active medium-large dogs. Flash is crate-trained but he doesn’t really like having to be in the crate. He is just a year old so we are seeking a home where humans aren’t gone all day and will be around to continue providing training, love, affection and exercise! Flash loves his toys, he will throw them around for himself but loves playing fetch and running all around the yard to retrieve his toys! He is also very cuddly and calm after he’s had his playtime and will want to snuggle on a bed or - your bed haha - or wherever his people are. Flash may have some mild separation anxiety in a new environment - that’s the Husky part but he will be bond very quickly and be loyal and comfortable in a short time - like an Aussie! He mainly wants to see his humans in the house and be where they are - so again a home where there are people and other dogs for security and companionship is what we want! Our listed dogs ARE READY IMMEDIATELY; we only meet with families WHO ARE READY TO ADOPT! IF YOU APPLY and if WE APPROVE YOU it means we are assuming when you meet any of our dogs and fall in love you're ready to ADOPT AND HIM OR HER HOME!   Bailey and Sammi are beautiful sister littermates in need of a new home. They’ve been together since they were born so they are only listed for adoption as a pair.   Throughout their lives both Sammi & Bailey have had sweet and loving dispositions; they love to meet new people and they have also been with children and cats.    Sammi & Baile are a rare, confident and sweet sister-pair who have great personalities and have never shown a smidge of aggression to any human or other dog.   Sammi is a lovebug and wants to give you kisses and licks of love. She is definitely the follower to her sister and is happy to just do what Bailey does! Sammi is very “go with the flow” and happy all of the time. Sammi is more submissive to other animals and always “listens well”/takes cues when it comes to leaving another living thing alone. Our cat is always tolerant of Sammi for this reason. Sammy loves to eat her rawhide bones inside. Sammy loves soft surfaces; she will come into the laundry room to check and see if there are any blankets on the floor where she can curl up. Bailey has a very brilliant personality. She really acts like she speaks and understands English! Bailey is the athlete, she can jump super high and loves to jump into her humans’ arms. Bailey is fast and agile, she is eager to please. She needs better training on “off” and “lie down,” Bailey learns quickly and will be first to learn new tricks and commands.    Both dogs need some consistent training. They are great with children and other animals and they both know basic commands, however, they still jump up on new people sometimes and get very excited and rambunctious. Sammi and Bailey are loving, personable annd loyal pets. They love to cuddle on the couch near their people. Bailey has no anxiety, she’s is very comfortable around everyone. Sammi is more sensitive and when humans get upset she may shake a little bit - but this isn’t often. Sammi will comfort her person if they are sad or crying. Bailey and Sammi are NOT aggressive and have never once shown any type of aggression to humans. Their owners youngest daughter was one year old when they got the girls so they all grew up together.  We aren’t looking for a home with small children but a home where kids visit would be fine for them.  Bailey & Sammi’s owner is very sad to rehome them. She’s recently a single mom with 3 kids in a much smaller house. She is heartbroken but Sammi and Bailey can’t get the attention they’re used to and that they deserve. DASH is helping her find a home where Bailey & Sammi can get all the attention, affection and play time they need. If you’re empty-nesters or young retirees looking for a Double Dose of Aussie Love Sammi and Bailey could be the two you’ve been waiting to find!
