Story
Shyla is a 4 year-old loving and energetic Australian shepherd. She belonged to my father-in-law who passed away suddenly a few months ago. We have fostered her for a few months but are unable to keep her. She is spayed, has had all her shots, and is on a monthly flea preventative. We are hoping to find her a new home where she can get a lot of exercise, love, and attention.

Meet Daisy Dukes: The Independent Farm Helper Introducing Daisy Dukes, also known as Daisy Collerville. Rescued from a hoarding case, Daisy is a nine-year-old, 60-pound shepherd mix who thrives on having her own space. Although she's feral and prefers to keep her distance from people, she would be a perfect fit for a farm where she can put her excellent perimeter-walking skills to use. Daisy is a natural at keeping predators off your property and would be a valuable asset in a farm setting. She gets along well with chickens and cats, and she's generally good with other dogs. While she's fine with people, she prefers to stay away and enjoy her independence. Given her background and feral nature, Daisy currently lives in boarding due to her fear of people. She would do great on a fenced-in farm where she can roam freely and enjoy the barn life without the risk of wandering off. Daisy is looking for a special sponsor to help cover her boarding costs and ensure she continues to live comfortably. If you have a farm and are looking for a hardworking helper who's good with animals and prefers her own space, Daisy Dukes is your girl. If you're interested in sponsoring Daisy and helping her live a safe and happy life, please consider supporting her today. All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Story
Berne, means 'bear-like' and this boy is so cute and has the waddle of a bear! As cute as he was we noticed something else was going on with this boy besides being a tail-less wonder. His back end seemed smooshed. We got him checked out, after x-rays and evaluation he has a compressed spine. This is common in some breeds. We don't know his breed but it will be something he has forever. He is not in pain and still acts like a normal puppy. As he gets a little bigger, we will see if there are any remedies or treatments that might help him but we do suspect he will live a happy life and would be an awesome addition to any family. He may need to be in household with older kids so he doesn't get knocked around. He is potty trained. He is doing great with crate and leash training. He loves tug of war, bully sticks and pestering his older foster siblings. He has spurts of energy a couple times a day, doesn't last long and otherwise very chill! Vet suspects he will get to 30 pounds. This sweet boy was found as a stray in a park. All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at http://dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

Meet Hickory: The Sweet and Anxious Companion in Need of Patience and Love Introducing Hickory, a one-year-old (almost two!) male pup who weighs 28 pounds. Adopted as a puppy and returned, Hickory has some "stranger danger and fear barking, but he's working hard with a trainer to become more socialized and less fearful. Hickory is looking for a potential adopter willing to go through this process with him, as well as a sponsor to help support his training costs. Hickory can be nervous when new people come into the home, making him an anxiety dog who needs a calm and understanding environment. He has a tendency to super attach to his people, and with the right family, he has the potential to be an amazing pet. He previously lived with children and did great with them, though the busyness of the house was overwhelming for him. A calmer household would be ideal for Hickory. This little guy is great on a leash and needs a secure harness as he has the potential to be a flight risk. He's super sweet and loving to the people in the home, and he gets along wonderfully with other dogs. We're not sure how he would do with cats, but his gentle nature suggests he might do well with proper introductions. Hickory's adopter will benefit from a complimentary training session to continue his progress. If you're looking for a loving, loyal, and sweet companion who needs a bit of patience and understanding, Hickory is your boy. Adopt Hickory today and give him the loving home he deserves, or consider sponsoring him to help support his training and care. With your help, Hickory can overcome his fears and thrive in a calm, loving environment.

Story
We got Scout as a puppy, along with his brother Buddy. They're turning 6 this October. He is a spunky, silly and affectionate dog. He is really really patient kids and good with adults. He is vocal and takes protecting the family seriously, but he is friendly with everyone, sweet and loves to love. He is smart and loves walks and playing. We are hopeful to find him a family that will love him a lot and care for him well. He would make a fun and loving companion. We are so sad to have to say goodbye but our family has grown and has extra special needs and we're unable to care for him anymore.

Story
Our dog was born on June 3, 2023, and we bought him from a pet market when he was 3 months old. He is now about 17 months old. We have given him all the necessary vaccinations and implanted a microchip. We are hoping to find a loving new home for him, preferably with a family that has enough time and energy to continue fostering his good behavior. He is very happy, friendly, and obedient, making him suitable for families who enjoy having a well-behaved, gentle dog. He freely roams around the house, and when he needs to go to the bathroom, he walks to the backyard door and waits for us to open it. He plays outside for a bit after going to the bathroom, then comes back inside to continue playing. At night, he goes back to his crate to sleep, maintaining a routine. Overall, he is a lively, friendly, and well-mannered dog, and we hope he will continue to bring joy and happiness to his new home.

Story
Aloof doesn’t even begin to explain it!  Meet Miro - wonderdog and wonderful dog   Miro is a 2-3 year old purebred Aussie. And no, he isn’t ignoring you - he’s just a little extra special and deaf   Miro is the result of some bad breeding but that doesn’t mean he’s a bad dog, he’s the sweetest ball of energy you’ll ever meet!  Miro would love to find a home where he is either an only dog or with a dog who is just as playful as he is. Miro doesn’t understand the largeness of his bark and when he gets excited with other dogs he can be quite chatty!  Miro is house trained, crate trained and is doing well on a harness vs a leash.  Miro just needs someone willing to look past the fact he’s deaf and realise he’s a brilliant dog who wants his own brilliant home!!

Story
***DFW area only-No Exceptions***   Maizie is an ~9 weeks old puppy (as of 10/14/24) who arrived at LHS as a three week old baby after being handed to a woman by a stranger at a local Walmart. After the shock wore off, the woman who was given the puppy took her to the shelter for help. Maizie is a sweet girl who likes to play and nap. She loves to be petted, especially belly rubs, and is very affectionate. Maizie is a sun bather and is loving this fall weather combined with warm sunshine! She enjoys playing with her foster sister Gina (also available for adoption!). We believe she would do well with other doggie friends or alone as she is equally comfortable alone as with the other dogs in the home. She loves a good, fuzzy, comfy bed, crinkle toys and chew toys! She’s doing well with potty training. Puppies at this age will require patience and training to become the best pup they can be.   Current weight 17 lbs Projected weight 50+ Crate training:  crate trained   We are requesting a donation of $325 for the adoption which includes her spay, three rounds of puppy vaccines, a rabies vaccine, microchip with registration, dewormer and a single dose of heartworm preventative. We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. If you're interested in meeting or adopting her, please complete an application on our website and someone will reach out to you within 48 hours.  https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/   Adopter will take the puppy to an LHS approved vet to be spayed in December of 2024 per the spay/neuter agreement and in accordance to Chapter 828, Texas Health and Safety Code.  *Due to the high volume of applications and inquires for puppies as well as vetting needs, we will not be able to respond to or consider interest from those outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area.  We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Jojo has been a loving part of our family since we brought her home as a puppy in 2018. She is now 6 years old. She was raised on property in California, and never adjusted to living in a subdivision in Texas. We have a 1 year old and another baby on the way. Jojo has snapped at children three times in the past, and snapped at our toddler this week. In light of this, we can no longer trust her in our home. It breaks our heart to let her go, but we would much rather see her to a loving family than the alternative. Jojo loves to run, play fetch, and be outside. She is a massive pleaser. She always wants to be in the center of the action. Like most border collies that we've had, she's a bit on the neurotic side, and this contributes to her poor behavior around children. I would not recommend she go to a home with children. She would do best on property.
