Story
Let's go Eevee! This fun, energetic girl will Pokémon-go with you on any adventure. Eevee is a rambunctious bundle of energy that would fit in great with a family that gets outdoors and has space for her to run around at home. She is a bit of an attention hog, so she will do best in a single-dog home, but she has lived with both a cat and a dog and may be able to settle in with the right animal friends with enough time and training. Eevee needs animal companions that are respectful of her space when food is out, or to be fed separately. Owners and animal friends would need to be able to handle her high energy play-drive, so similar sized dog friends may be best. Eevee has lived with a toddler for two years, but may be better with older children after a slow introduction. Eevee is smart and very trainable. Earlier in her puppyhood, Eevee did a 3 week board and train and has some basic obedience training that, while rusty, could easily be honed further. She's showed aptitude for agility-style courses, and can be convinced to do most anything with the right treats. Eevee's prior trainer has stated that he would give any new owner two free training sessions to support Eevee's transition into a new home. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Eevee, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Meet Archie! Archie is listed as an Australian Shepherd, but he has the personality of a Husky. He weighs about 67 pounds and was born on January 8, 2022. Archie is a sweet, gentle dog with a calm energy level. He currently lives in a low-activity household, which may have influenced his laid-back nature, though with a more active lifestyle, he may become more energetic. He doesnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t seem to know how to play in the traditional sense, but every so often, heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll pull all his stuffed toys (â&#194&#128&#194&#156his babiesâ&#194&#128&#194&#157) from the basket and scatter them around the room. His favorite place to nap is in a leather chair, where he spends much of his day. He takes a daily vitamin and enjoys having an egg with his breakfast. It's believed that heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s been passed around a bitâ&#194&#128&#194&#148his last owner had him for only four months. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s strikingly beautiful and incredibly sweet. However, due to his size, heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s become difficult for his current owner to manage. Archie appears to do well with other dogs, though he hasn't been to dog parks. He has a clear preference for menâ&#194&#128&#194&#148he often chooses the company of a male stranger over familiar faces. He enjoys daily walks and uses a doggie door without issue. While he isnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t overly cuddly, he has warmed up and will occasionally jump into a lap to show affection. In general, he can seem a bit indifferent to familiar people. He previously spent time with another dog for a couple of weeks; they played well initially, but as things got rougher, they had to be separated for safety. He did enjoy the companionship, and with proper supervision or training, he may benefit from having a playmate. One of Archieâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s favorite pastimes is â&#194&#128&#194&#156huntingâ&#194&#128&#194&#157 squirrels in the backyard. Though heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s never caught one, heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll crouch and stalk them with serious focusâ&#194&#128&#194&#148itâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s quite entertaining to watch. He once cornered a cat and ended up with a scratch on his nose, but that hasnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t stopped him from continuing to chase after them. He is microchipped with a lifetime membership through 24PetWatch, and currently wears a GPS tracker on his collar, which helps provide peace of mind in case he were to get outâ&#194&#128&#194&#148especially since heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s still getting familiar with the neighborhood. Archie is fully house-trained and has never had an accident indoors. He was crate trained but no longer uses a crate. He gets one treat per dayâ&#194&#128&#194&#148a dental chew. This rehoming decision comes with a heavy heart. Archieâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s current owner is older, increasingly unsteady on their feet, and no longer able to care for a large dog. With their adult son recently relocated for work, support at home is limited. Archie would thrive in a home with someone experienced with larger breeds or Husky-like temperaments, and who can give him the time, space, and affection he deserves. Could that be you? * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Archie II, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Bea Arthur - This sweet girl absolutely loves being outside, especially between 5–7 pm, when she can roll in the grass and keep an eye on all the neighborhood happenings. Bea has a wonderfully chill personality. She enjoys her walks and is steadily building up her stamina, but once she’s back home, she’s happiest curling up near you or right in your lap. She loves being in the crate, but she’s also fully comfortable hanging out in her foster space and has shown she’s potty trained, regularly going out every few hours and even holding it for longer stretches when needed. Bea is confident in public and loves car rides. Long drives may make her a bit sleepy, but she settles in nicely without fuss. While she hasn’t been introduced to her foster’s resident dogs yet due to quarantine, the shelter shared that she enjoyed spending time with her yard-mates previously. She's also great with cats! Bea Arthur is a gentle, affectionate companion who’s happiest by your side, whether she’s rolling in the grass, strolling through the neighborhood, or lounging indoors.

Josie is approximately a 10-year-old Australian Shepherd loyal, smart, and full of love. She’s well-behaved, house-trained, and still has plenty of energy to enjoy walks, playtime, and snuggles. She would do best in a home without other pets. She can be aggressive toward other dogs and doesn’t care for cats, so she truly needs to be the only pet where she can get all the love and attention. She has been around chickens, sheep, goats, cattle, and horses and does very well with livestock. Like a true Aussie, she loves to work; and will often herd them in a circle over and over. I’m hoping to find her a forever home where she’ll be cherished, understood, and given the companionship she deserves.

Story
Meet Daisy â&#194&#128&#194&#147 A Loyal, Playful Companion Looking for Her Perfect Match Daisy is a 2-year-old Border Collie/Pit Bull mix, born on Valentineâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s Day (2/14/2023) â&#194&#128&#194&#148 and true to her birthday, she has so much love to give. With her goofy personality, deep loyalty, and love of fetch, Daisy is a sweetheart waiting for the right person to open their heart to her. Daisy has medium-to-high energy: sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s always up for a game of fetch or some toy time, but sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s just as happy to curl up in a sunbeam or snuggle with you on the couch afterward. She knows her basics like sit, down, shake. Her recall is still a work in progress, and she can be a little sassy if sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s not done playing fetch - sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll plop right down on the grass with the ball in her mouth if sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s not ready to head inside! However, she is very attentive and smart and we know sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153d learn a lot with a patient and loving teacher. She does get nervous and reactive around new people, animals, or unfamiliar sights and sounds, and weâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re currently working on improving her leash manners and confidence on walks. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s making progress and responds well to consistent training and positive reinforcement. While Daisy has lived with other dogs before, weâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ve made the incredibly difficult decision to rehome her because she and our other dog are no longer getting along. We believe she would be happiest as the only pet in a calm, stable home. Children can also make her anxious â&#194&#128&#194&#148 likely due to her Border Collie instincts to herd â&#194&#128&#194&#148 so an adult-only household would be ideal. That said, once Daisy trusts you, sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s incredibly affectionate, goofy, and devoted. She may be shy at first, but give her a chance to play fetch and warm up at her own pace, and sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll soon be curled up next to you, tail wagging and heart full. Weâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re heartbroken to say goodbye, but our hope is to find Daisy a new family who can give her the space, attention, and understanding she deserves. If youâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re looking for a smart, spirited companion who will reward your patience with endless love, Daisy could be the perfect fit. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Daisy XIX, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Meet the perennially goofy and Just Happy to Be Included®, Bowie the Border Collie. He is a 5-year old, 90lb Border Collie (as the name implies), with a big goofy smile and a sunny disposition. Bowie was one of my mother's furbabies, and she passed unexpectedly this year, leaving my partner and I scrambling to find a home for him and his dog-brother Scout. We are unfortunately unable to foster them indefinitely due to our own existing pet situation, and we need to find them a good home as soon as possible. Bowie is a laid back, very zen, sometimes a little derpy, pup who loves to take walks and chase squirrels, but is equally comfortable just lounging around all day. Bowie is great with kids, he lived with my Niece his whole life, and is very gentle and loving with her. He's great at chasing balls, just not great at returning them. He gets along great with other dogs, and has lived with cats before, though not recently. He is currently living with us and his brother Scout. Bowie, as I mentioned before, is just happy to be included, whether that is playing with Scout, walks, sitting on the porch drinking coffee (not him, me) or whatever else is going on. He is calm under pressure, has no storm/thunder anxiety, and no destructive behaviors (digging, chewing, clawing). Bowie absolutely adores belly rubs and will flop over at your feet and let you rub his belly for hours and just fall asleep. Hands will definitely get tired before Bowie does. An ideal home for Bowie would be one that could also take his brother Scout, but that at minimum has other dog(s) to interact with and keep him company and lead his little pack of one. Bowie IS currently on medication for arthritis and hyperthyroidism, so he does have medical needs that have to be considered, but we are hoping as we get his weight down (my mother was unable to exercise him and was not diligent in portion control the last year or so) that these conditions should be ameliorated or resolved. Bowie is leash and house trained. My mother spent some time crate training him but fell out of practice as her health declined and he hasn't needed one for a while. He should take to it quickly though if crate training is needed in your home, and knows the basics of Sit, Stay, Come. We are planning on sending him and Scout to training school as soon as Scout recovers from neuter surgery so maybe by the time you read this he'll know even more commands! This sweet and loving pup is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Story
Maggie may have spent time on her own, but sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s off to a great start getting to know all her new friends. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s met both big dogs and little dogs, and even when her curiosity gets the best of her, she takes a cue from her new friends. Cats will keep her amused, even if they are uninterested in her. She knows how to walk on her leash, sleep in her crate, and take care of business outside. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s played well with young children, but she can benefit from the loving guidance of adults to help her become more confident. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll learn from a family who wants to help her become her best self. In her eyes, youâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re everything! Maggie has plenty of energy and will enjoy getting out for a run in addition to her walks. She loves toys, catching a ball, and playing tug. For a family with lots of love to offer to her, sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll steal your heart, and youâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll love her anyway! All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. The standard minimum donation for dogs over six months to seven years is $200, puppies under six months is $250, dogs eight years and over are $100 unless specified otherwise.
