He may startle easily right now, but that’s simply because the shelter is a frightening place for a sensitive dog. Despite everything, Rich is dog friendly and walks well on a leash, showing that he truly has the potential to be a wonderful companion once he’s given time to decompress in a calm home. What Rich needs most is patience, kindness, and someone willing to give him the chance to build confidence and trust. diesel is a five-year-old mixed breed dog. Diesel is our longest resident but a staff favorite. He loves long walks and playing in the pool in the summer. He loves stuffed toys and will play like a little puppy when he receives them. Diesel is house trained and may be able to live in the home with a female dog. Diesel does not show well due to him not being a fan of strangers, but once he gets to know you, you are in his heart for good. Diesels ideal home will be an adult only home with someone who understands the responsibility of owning a dog who does not warm up to people right away. Diesel will benefit from training and does great with the schedule and structure

Story

Thunder was found as a stray during a thunderstorm (hence the name) and got a second chance when he was adopted from a local shelter. Unfortunately, his nose- and instincts- have gotten him into trouble. Thunder discovered that chickens are delicious and very exciting to chase, and his current home couldn't keep him because of it. He's friendly with people, does well with other dogs, and has been around kids from toddler age up through pre-teen. Cats, birds and poultry are an absolute no unless it's for lunch. Thunder is smart, playful, and loves a ball and chew toys. He’s been primarily an outdoor dog, so he may need some guidance with house manners- but he's working on it in his foster home and at just a year old, he's very capable of being a very good boy.
