Oh, to be young again and have enough energy to fill a room…. that’s Ash. He is a recently retired 2-year-old male research beagle who enjoys life to the fullest. He has his moments of high energy but also likes to chill-out and relax. Walks, attention, soft toys and balls, moving things from place to place, watching TV, and just about any activity he’s been introduced to is what he loves at that moment. Ash is doing very well with his house training and eliminates on lead. Exploring is an activity he really enjoys so a fenced in backyard is a must. He loves being with his people, following them from room to room and typical of the puppy that he is, snuggles up next to you on the sofa and falls into a deep sleep. Where does Happy Paws Rescue come into the picture? On a regular basis, research facilities have beagles that they release to us. We generally adopt to families within a 1-hour radius of our home base in Piscataway, NJ but may consider farther distances in the tri-state region if volunteers are available. If you live beyond our geographical boundaries, we hope you will contact rescue organizations closer to your home. 5. If both you and the rescue agree that I'm a good fit for your home, you will fill out an adoption contract. The adoption fee is $350 for dogs. 6. We have lots of fun together!

Introducing Lexi, the Queen of our rescue. This petite super senior is a 13-year- old Retired Research Beagle who understands what she likes and gently lets you know her desires. Lexi is in good health and daily takes an inexpensive medication to take care of some protein in her urine. A good eater, Lexi is flexible about her feeding schedule but does not beg for table food. She finds her crate distasteful and prefers spending the night on her “spot” - the sofa. When she needs to go out she signals you by heading straight to the door. She absolutely loves her walks, often eliminates on lead but has decided reclining on her sofa “spot” is an activity she prefers – she’s easy to find. Lexi is the Queen with very few needs. Walks, cuddling, following her human companions, treats (especially cheese), playing with pups her size, sharing the doggie bed with her beagle foster brother and a good sniff of the yard. We are looking for a family that would be happy with a lower activity pup who enjoys love, sharing a walk or backyard time. Since Lexi can be vocal from time to time, apartment dwellers would not be a good match. And the tiniest nub tail that wags all the time. She weighs 26 lbs This one is a lover but very playful. Always happy. Super friendly. Quiet in the house. ADORES children Well socialized, she loves everyone. Extremely smart. She could be trained for anything. Great with other dogs. Very good on the leash. Molly lives in a home with several other dogs her age. She is playful, happy and loves to play with the other rescue dogs. She is heart worm negative. Molly at the rescue in Tennessee and will travel to her new home in the northeast once she has been adopted. Our next trip to the NJ with the adopted dogs is Saturday, June 3rd. Our primary source of funding comes from this adoption donation. This donation allows us to rescue other dogs in danger of being put to sleep, injured or sick dogs and dogs that have never known the comfort of a home. Skye is a sweet mama dog who was rescued with her sister and lots of puppies. She is very timid and often hunkers when approached. She is gaining her confidence in foster care and is learning to trust humans. She is a sweet sweet girl, who loves to explore new areas but also loves cuddling up with her sister Stella on their doggy bed. Kid and dog friendly, but hasn't been around cats. If she doesn't get adopted with her sister Stella she will definitely need to go to a home with a friendly, confident dog to help her continue learning to trust humans.
