He was underweight, covered in fleas and ticks, and very weak. Once we got him to our vet we found that he was anemic, the fleas had sucked all of his blood. He is also heartworm positive, and he’s started the beginning of heartworm treatment. He’s feeling so much better and is on the path to good health! Orville is feeling better now, and his personality has started to show. He shows signs of being abused. He is not going to be a good first dog for someone, and he will need someone who’s dog savvy, and will give him space to settle in his environment.

Cricket is an estimated 2 year old, beagle mix -weighing 19 lbs! She came from horrible conditions .... she was surrounded by bones, deceased dogs and no food. She was saved by Wolfe County Shelter in KY and never will experience that again! She does have a cherry eye that will be repaired when spayed. She is potty trained and has been doing wonderfully since being saved ##2635018##

Rudy is sweet beagle mix who is about 4 years old and weighs approximately 25 lbs. He gets along and plays great with the other foster dog in his foster home, but he does not always like to share and makes it clear. For that reason, he may do best as the only dog or with a dog savvy family if there is already another dog in the home Rudy loves to zip around the back yard at full speed when he plays! He also has a high prey drive and would love to chase every squirrel, rabbit or any other critter he comes across. There is a good chance he could catch them too. A secured fenced in yard is a must for this speed demon! When Rudy isn’t on the hunt, he is a complete cuddle bug and even likes to sit right on your lap. He is crate trained, walks like a total gentleman on a leash and likes going on walks and taking long naps. Cats…he would say yes please, but for all the wrong reasons! If you love your cat, Rudy is not the dog for you. She was obviously very much loved in her previous home, but sadly, her mom passed away. Now, at 8 years old, Cori is looking for a forever home where she can be spoiled again. An adult-only home where she can have ample time to settle in would be best for Cori. She would prefer a quiet lifestyle (no cities or busy neighborhoods for Cori) and would like to be the only dog in the household. That being said, Cori enjoys her visits to doggy daycare where she can socialize with other dogs. Cori also does well with cats. Cori will thrive in a home where she has a regular routine and will be walked daily so her beagle nose can be used to its fullest potential. She’s house trained, but she doesn’t potty on leash, so a fenced yard is a must. Car rides with Cori are a breeze – she’s the perfect passenger when it’s time to hit the road! Because Cori was displaying some behavior that we wanted to better understand, we sent her to a certified professional dog trainer. Cori was already on medication for general anxiety, and she underwent thorough behavioral and medical evaluations to determine if there was something else that was affecting her behavior. We discovered that Cori’s underbite was causing a lot of jaw pain, and her discomfort was affecting how she interacted with the world. Since starting daily anti-inflammatory medication, Cori has bloomed beautifully. According to her trainer, she now has a good appetite and is a “total foodie.” Her confidence has increased, she’s more playful and more at ease meeting new people, and she has learned to ignore distractions while she’s on leash.
