Story
Hi, I'm Bentley! I'm a 1-year-old, 56-pound bundle of energy, personality, and potential, and I'm looking for a family who loves a smart, playful pup with plenty of enthusiasm for life. I'm a treat-loving guy who enjoys learning new things, showing off my skills, and staying busy with toys, games, and activities. I'm a bright boy who responds well to guidance and positive reinforcement. I enjoy playing with toys and I love having something fun to focus on. I'm still learning that not every interaction needs to be at full speed, so a family willing to help me channel my energy and continue building my confidence will help me be my best self. If you're looking for an active, silly, affectionate companion who will keep you entertained and bring lots of fun into your life, Bentley might just be your perfect match!*Qualifies for Pets for Patriots programPlease email Adoptions@saltlakecounty.gov with questions. Story
Meet Cassidy – A Loyal and Happy Lab/Collie/Shepherd Mix! DOB: 10/3/2022 | Weight: 76 pounds | Female Cassidy is a stunning Lab/Collie/Shepherd mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. At 3 years old, she’s in the prime of her life—healthy, energetic, and full of love to give. Cassidy is known for her loyal spirit and happy demeanor. She absolutely adores her people, and with her affectionate nature, she’ll make a wonderful companion for an active and dedicated family. Breed Info: A mix of Labrador Retriever, Collie, and Shepherd, Cassidy combines intelligence, energy, and devotion. These breeds are known for their trainability and loyalty, but also for needing structure, exercise, and mental stimulation. Cassidy is a great candidate for agility work, hiking adventures, or simply being your best buddy in life. Special Notes: Cassidy is a spirited girl who loves to explore! She does have a talent for jumping fences, so she will require a home with a very secure, tall fence (or someone committed to leash walks and supervised play). She is currently enrolled in a basic training course and making wonderful progress. Continued training will be key to helping her thrive and channel her energy in positive ways. ‍‍ Owner Responsibilities: Cassidy’s new family will need to: Provide daily exercise and playtime. Continue with her training to reinforce good manners. Ensure a secure environment to keep her safe. Offer patience, structure, and plenty of love. &#226&#154&#150&#239&#184&#143 Things to Consider: Cassidy is best suited for an active household that can keep up with her energy. Landlords and property owners should be checked if you rent, as breed restrictions sometimes apply. Families should be prepared for her enthusiasm—she may not be best for homes with toddlers, but will love older children. The 3-3-3 Rule: Remember the adjustment period: 3 days to decompress. 3 weeks to learn your routine. 3 months to fully feel at home. Vet Care: Once adopted, getting Cassidy to your vet is important for a checkup and to establish ongoing care. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Why Cassidy Will Be a Great Addition: Cassidy isn’t just looking for a home—she’s looking for her forever partner. She has all the qualities of a best friend: loyal, protective, playful, and loving. With her happy spirit and willingness to learn, she’ll bring joy and companionship to the right home. She will thrive with someone who sees her spirited energy not as a challenge but as part of her charm. Cassidy is ready to love and be loved—could she be the one for you? Story
Meet Stanley! Stanley is a 2-year-old, 45lb Border Collie mix who is the perfect blend of playful young dog and professional couch cuddler! If you’re looking for a cuddle buddy, Stanley is your guy. ❤️He is potty trained, kennel trained, and leash trained, and his favorite place to be is right by your side on the couch. Stanley generally does well with other dogs and would love a home with a canine companion. He does have some food resource guarding tendencies, so he should be fed separately in his crate.Stanley would do best with a family or someone looking for a younger dog who already has the basics down. He would do best with another dog and is not a match for a home with cats.If your ideal dog is young, house-trained, affectionate, and happiest snuggled up beside you, Stanley may be your perfect match! ❤️Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Story
Astrid is a beautiful Border Collie mix with an incredible spirit and a story that speaks to just how resilient a dog can be. At around 2 years old, this sweet girl has overcome more in her short life than most dogs ever will. For the first year of her life, Astrid survived on her own as a feral dog on the reservation. During that time, she contracted distemper—a disease that many dogs don't survive. Against the odds, Astrid pulled through. She was later humanely trapped and brought into rescue, where she has spent the last year learning that people can be kind and that life can be safe.Today, Astrid is a loving, affectionate dog who enjoys meeting new people and soaking up attention. She adores cuddles, has eyes that will melt your heart, and has a gentle sweetness that is impossible to forget. As a result of surviving distemper, Astrid has a permanent neurological tic that causes her head and body to bob up and down. The good news? It doesn't slow her down or keep her from enjoying life. She's happy, playful, and otherwise thriving. Because distemper survivors are relatively uncommon, it's difficult to predict what her long-term medical future may look like. Right now, she is healthy and doing wonderfully, but her family should be prepared for the possibility of unexpected medical needs related to her past illness. Her constant tic has also caused significant wear on her teeth, so she may require more dental care than most dogs her age.Astrid is house-trained and crate-trained, but she is still working through some fears from her past. Walking on a leash remains very challenging for her—she may freeze and 'pancake' on the ground or try to bolt when she feels overwhelmed. Car rides are also difficult, and she does best when crated. She will need a patient, understanding family that is willing to let her continue building confidence at her own pace without rushing her. Because of her leash challenges, a securely fenced yard is an absolute requirement so she can safely exercise and enjoy the outdoors.Astrid loves having canine companions and would do best in a home with another friendly dog. She does like to be in charge, however, and is not a good match for other dominant female dogs. She is also a little too enthusiastic about cats and would do best in a cat-free home.Astrid is the definition of resilience. After everything she's endured, she has chosen to trust, to love, and to embrace the life she was finally given. She isn't looking for a perfect family—just one that will be patient, understanding, and willing to celebrate every step of her journey. In return, she'll offer unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and the kind of bond that only comes from a dog who truly knows what it means to be given a second chance.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200.
