Story
When I started looking into getting a dog for my child, I never thought I’d end up with the one nobody else wanted. He came from a rejected litter, and somehow, he found his way to us. From the start, I could tell he was different. Not calm or quiet, but full of this crazy, hyper energy that just wouldn’t quit. And honestly? That’s what makes him who he is. He’s wild, yes, but he’s also the sweetest dog I’ve ever known. He loves people—anyone, anywhere. When he gets the attention he craves, he settles right in and shows off how good and well-behaved he can be. He has his favorites in life: long walks where every sound and smell is an adventure, a pile of toys he’ll dig through to find “the one” for a good game of tug, belly rubs that make him melt, and a warm bath at the end of the day. Dog parks visits are the best outing. Life has gotten crazy. My child felt it was more important for him to be happy and get the attention he used to. I only have a fee to make sure people are serious

Story
Scout is a wonderful Border Collie. He's been friendly to other dogs he's met (though never lived with another dog as far we know). He is friendly to new people. He was reportedly house-trained in the previous home. The only destruction noted was disembowling his stuffed toys, and we believe him when he tells us those toys "had it comin'". His only "bad habit" is herding the cat, so he's looking for a home with no tempting felines moving about erratically. What can we say? He just has a strong work ethic and can't leave his herding job undone. Scout is super-duper ball-motivated. So come and meet him, take him out to a play yard, and don't forget to grab a ball!

Story
Oreo is the cutest elf this side of the North Pole. This 5-year-old girl is a Border Collie-Cattle Dog Mix through and through: smart, active, and focused on her people. She knows so many tricks we couldn’t list them all. Oreo likes to cuddle and go on walks. She’s previously lived with kids and did fine meeting another dog here at HSU. Oreo is looking for a guardian to help her gain weight by feeding three meals each day, as she is only 23 lbs. Because she’ll need some extra help to stay comfy and warm while she gets back up to a healthy weight, we’ve chosen Oreo as our Pet Couture Posh Pop of the Week. She’ll go home with a voucher for a large orthopedic dog bed. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and they come with a free exam from participating local veterinarians. Oreo has been checked out by our veterinarian, and she looks forward to meeting you SOON!

Story
Meet Wednesday! 1 year old • 48 lbs • Border Collie Labrador Retriever MixWednesday is a bright, beautiful girl who’s equal parts playful and sweet. She’s a bundle of energy who loves spending time outside, going for walks, and—her absolute favorite—playing with other dogs! Once she’s gotten her zoomies out, she’s happiest hanging out with her people, following them around the house, or relaxing in a quiet spot under the bed.Wednesday can be a little timid at first and startles easily with sudden noises or fast movements, but once she warms up, her affectionate, goofy side shines through. She’s incredibly eager to please and quick to learn, especially when there’s chicken involved. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, and does best in a home where she won’t be left alone for long stretches. Wednesday is still learning her manners—she can get jumpy when excited and sometimes needs help focusing—but she’s a smart, motivated girl who thrives with patient, consistent guidance.Because she can get overwhelmed in busy or unpredictable environments, Wednesday would do best in an adult-only home that can give her the structure and calm she needs to feel confident. A yard where she can run and play would make her happiest, and having another friendly dog to play with would be a big bonus!Wednesday’s ideal family will give her a “job” to do, plenty of activity, and lots of love and reassurance. In return, she’ll give you endless affection, hilarious ear expressions, and a loyal companion for life. Apply to meet Wednesday at http://caws.org/adoption-applicationAll CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Adoption fee: $200. Story
Meet Calvin – Your New Best Friend! Calvin is a sweet and spirited 11-month-old Border Collie mix who is a petite 40 pounds with a heart full of love, a tail that never stops wagging, and a snuggle game that’s top-notch. Calvin is neutered and vaccinated and ready to head off to his forever home!Calvin absolutely adores people and children, and he gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes. His dream family would be one where he has playmates, whether that’s other pups, kids, or both, and plenty of time spend together being active. This smart boy has come a long way from his rough start, having spent most of his young life in a dog run at a shelter in California. Calvin was reduced from a euthanasia list where he was listed because his kennel mate was diagnosed with Parvo. Calvin never contracted from Parvo and was rescued by his foster parents 24 hours before his euthanasia time. Now, he’s enjoying the good life! Calvin is potty trained, walking nicely on a leash, and riding calmly in the car. He’s eager to please, bonds deeply with his people, and never says no to a good cuddle session after some playtime. Calvin’s favorite activities include playing fetch, playing in a kiddie pool, curling up next to his humans, and running around outside. He’s ready for a home where adventure, love, and affection are part of every day.If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and affectionate companion, Calvin is your guy!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Story
Hi, I'm Andie-a 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog with a heart full of potential and energy to spare! I'm in my teenage phase, which means I'm smart, curious, and always on the move, but I'm still figuring out the world (and my manners). I know some basic commands and walk well on a leash, but I could use a little extra guidance and gentle encouragement to help me grow into the best version of myself. I can be a bit of a wallflower at first, so I'll need time to warm up and build confidence-but once I do, I'm affectionate, loyal, and totally toy-obsessed. If you're patient, kind, and ready for a sweet project pup, I just might be your perfect match!*Qualifies for Pets for Patriots programPlease email Adoptions@saltlakecounty.gov with questions Primary Color: Tri Color Secondary Color: Red Tick Weight: 46 Age: 1yrs 11mths 0wks

Hi, I'm Twix!I'm your sweet little treat with a whole lot of energy packed inside! As a true KINDERGARTENER, I'm a youngster through and through, ready to learn, grow, and become the very best version of me with your guidance. I'm active and athletic, I love toys, and treats might just be my favorite form of motivation (I mean... my name is Twix). I can get a bit rowdy, but don't give up on me-I just need some training, patience, and someone who believes in my potential. And when the playtime winds down, I'm all about affection and cuddles.
