Story
Joey is a 7 year old border collie mix. He’s been with me since he was six weeks old. He’s traveled all over the world. He’s worked on horse ranches, sailboats, and lived in an apartment in the city. He’s very adaptable to most environments. I have discovered that air travel and boats are not for him. He’s not very happy long term in that environment. Since I’ll be working in that industry for the foreseeable future I need to find him a home he can be happy and thrive in again. Joey does have anxiety. It shows the most when he’s left alone. I generally crate him when I leave him for an extended period or if there a chance there will be fireworks. He’s much happier in his crate. He’s fully off leash trained and pretty decent on a leash. He’s mostly just happy when he’s with his people.

Story
Rosie is affectionate, extremely smart, energetic, walks well on a leash, likes car rides, and needs to be near her human(s). She can be left alone for a few hours (although she doesn't like it) and sleeps all night quietly. A kennel is NOT suitable for her. She wants to be a member of the family and can be trusted in the house. A fenced-in yard is ideal for her because she needs exercise to be her best self. Rosie will stay near you off-leash, but is not used to being around traffic. My special needs daughter had Rosie for almost 5 years, but she moved to a place that can't have dogs. I love Rosie so much and took her in. But my apartment lifestyle is just not working for her, and I work full-time. She's being a good girl, but I can tell she's unhappy. That breaks my heart!

Story
Kal is a 2 year old border collie/golden retriever mix and he weighs 55 lbs! We rescued Kal when he was 6 months old. He was found abandoned on the side of the road. Some important things to know about Kal: Kal is an anxious, loving doggy. We believe he was abused in his previous home so he is skittish with strangers and being touched by people he doesn’t know. He typically responds to this anxiety by baring his teeth and snapping, however he hasn’t ever lashed out unprovoked or fully bitten anyone. Once Kal gets to know you at his own pace, he is so loving and affectionate. Once he trusts you he’s the goofiest doggy and loves to just be by your side. He would do best in a home with children old enough to understand his boundaries and somewhere that has experience with rescues and their quirks. He loves being outside, car rides, pup cups, and napping literally anywhere. He’s just a good, goofy boy, who can be the best companion for someone who has the patience to earn his trust:)

Me hoy minoy! okay okay, I'm still working on my translations, but one thing I can say clearly is that I'm DoodleBob!Your soon-to-be best friend with a goofy name and an even better personality! I may be a distinguished gentleman at 8, but I've still got a spring in my step and I'm always down for an outing, a stroll, or a little fun before settling in for a cozy recharge on a soft bed. I've got the brains to match the charm! I already have the basics down and love showing off how clever I am! I'm a gentle soul who thrives on kindness, walks politely by your side, and enjoys the company of other dogs. Most of all, I'm a total softie who loves being close to my people-equal parts playful sidekick and cuddle expert, wrapped up in one wonderfully doodly package.*Qualifies for Pets for Patriots program*Qualifies for Senior-to-Senior programPlease email Adoptions@saltlakecounty.gov with questions Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 49.3125 Age: 8yrs 1mths 0wks

Story
Hi, I'm Quill-like a fancy writing pen, but my story is mostly about zoomies, snacks, and being ridiculously cute. I'm a 4-month-old Border Collie/Pit Bull mix with a social, happy personality and a talent for making friends wherever I go. I've got that classic puppy energy, so I'm always ready to play, learn, and maybe "write" a few new adventures with you (don't worry, my spelling is mostly just paw prints). I'm still working on my manners and will need guidance, structure, and plenty of positive training as I grow-after all, every great Quill needs a steady hand. If you're looking for a smart, affectionate pup who's ready to fill your life with fun, love, and a few playful plot twists, I'm ready to help you write the best chapter yet. Please email Adoptions@saltlakecounty.gov with questions Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 35.8 Age: 0yrs 4mths 1wks

Story
Korra is a 7 year old Heeler/Border Collie mix that has already had two homes in her life. She lived her first two years of life with a man in the military who dropped her off at the shelter when he was deployed. She lived her past 5 years with a family in Utah who adopted her from the shelter but decided they no longer wanted the responsibility of a dog... despite how low maintenance Korra is! Korra is now with our rescue in SLC, Utah waiting for a truly deserving family to notice her and love her unconditionally. Korra is wonderful with children and humans. A total love bug who enjoys belly rubs and couch cuddles. She is seven years old but absolutely loves adventures like walks in the neighborhood, hikes or car rides. She is such a perfect companion. She has a gentle demeanor and does the cutest little woofs when she wants to play! Korra has never spent time around dogs and has gotten along with some here at the rescue on walks but it is still unclear how she would do living with another pup in the same home. Please reach out only if you can provide Korra with a loving home for the rest of her life. She deserves it!

Story
Meet Blue Cheese, a 3-year-old, 55lb terrier mix with the most striking light blue eyes to compliment her spots! She is sweet and affectionate and loves to snuggle on the couch. She is very eager to please. She enjoys daily walks, chasing squirrels, and rolling in the grass and she would apparently prefer to turn into Green Cheese - rolling in fresh cut grass is her specialty, but she also loves napping. She is quiet in her crate at night, but may show her disappointment vocally if crated during the day (she settles down within minutes though), is house-trained, loves playing chase or running zoomies and is highly food-motivated. She needs an active owner, preferably with another playful dog. She is working on her leash reactivity manners and fear of getting in cars. She is highly food-motivated and is eager to learn (and please), though she is still currently working on her basic commands. Cats are probably a no go for this gal. Blue Cheese is a charming, food-motivated companion ready for a loving home that can provide consistency and fun adventures. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200.
