Story
Aspen is a 6 month old Heeler mix female who currently weighs about 25 pounds (and growing!). She is a love bug, enjoys cuddling and snuggling when she is not wiggling or doing zoomies! She has many friends in her foster family, getting along with cats, small chihuahuas, and a big Doberman. She lets the cats sleep in her bed. Aspen is doing awesome with her crate training. She attended 2 full days at puppy school with Kudos 2 Canine training. Potty training is a work in progress, but she is learning from the others. Her favorite joy is to be outside running in the sunshine. If you can keep up with her and enjoy playing she will be your best friend.Aspen would love another playful dog in her adoptive home and a family who takes her out on adventures to see the world outside of her back yard, attends a basic training course with her, and continues to socialize her with other pets, people and places. Aspen's adoption fee is $300 and includes her first years vaccines, deworming, health check, microchip, and spay. To be considered, please apply online at caws.org. Thanks! If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at https://caws.org/adoption-applicationMay 28, 2024, 7:05 am

Story
Hi! My name is Raine and I am 1 year and 5 month old Australian Shepard/Border Collie/Pitbull mix. I am a very playful girl who will make you laugh with my silly personality, and my howls! I am shy at first, but once you gain my trust I am extremely loving and cuddly. I am also very loyal, I will follow you wherever you go! I don’t do well with other dogs right away, I need someone who will take the time to let me warm up to other dogs by going on pack walks. I have been able to make other dog friends by doing this! I will do best in a home with no other animals. I LOVE to go on adventures, especially paddle boarding and hiking. On-leash days in Millcreek canyon are my favorite because I’m able to enjoy the outdoors without other dogs getting in my space! I also love the snow, I could roll and play in it all day long! I am spayed, up-to-date on my vaccinations, crate-trained and potty trained.

Found this little guy sifting through a trash can on a trail I was one. He's the most loving, loyal, fun, happy, out-going, spunky, playful, fearless, and resilient pup anyone could ask for. As much as I wish I could keep him for myself, I know there is a loving home out there for him just waiting to be connected! I am leaving for the military soon and have been trying to find him a home for about 6 months now.

Story
Gilly is a super sweet and petite 2-3 year old border aussie. We are fostering her until we find her the perfect home! If you're looking for a loving, adventure-seeking dog this is your girl! Despite the awful shelter living conditions she came from, she has been nothing but loving, sweet, and a fast learner. She is good with cats! She is great with other dogs and loves to play! She loves people and is very cuddly, she will melt into you. She has great leash manners being trained with the figure 8 loop. She is potty-trained and is 90% crate trained and learning fast! She will come with a bed, collar, leash, treats, all vet records, and access to us for any help if needed. She is up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and spayed **Adopter MUST be active and willing to exercise Gilly daily (not just leaving her in a backyard to play). Adopter must know the fulfillment that herding breeds require.** She is a fantastic dog and will be such a great addition to someones life!

Story
Hi! Stella is my name and playing is my game! I am a ~1 yr old border collie x German shepherd mix and I am a ball of energy! Four hour hike? No problem. Ten mile trail run? Bring it on! I'm a super social girl who loves to play with other dogs (cats are also really fun to chase, so probably best that I go to a home without them). I'm not big on snuggling; but, once I have my exercise fix for the day I will settle down nicely next to you on the floor. My ideal home would be one that has a big fenced back yard and some active adults (no kids for me please) who want to take me on all of their outdoor adventures. I am learning to like my crate and not to pull so much on a leash. I am house-broken, spayed and up-to-date on my vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting me, please contact kathie@herdinghaven.org

Rikka (ree - kah) is a sweet and gentle girl. She weighs about 50 lbs. She is timid around other animals and does not seem interested in them. She LOVES kids and loves going for walks on her leash. She spends most of her time napping on the couch with a minky blanket. Her favorite treat is raw carrots. She is well behaved around the dinner table and will lay at your feet until you get up. She is house trained. She’s trying to learn the doggy door. She is sad when you leave, but will sleep on your bed until you return. She is an excellent road trip partner and is happy to be the little spoon when you cuddle with her.

Story
Winston is 8 yrs old (April 19, 2016). Winston is loyal and protects his people. He is active and likes exercise. He can be talkative when he wants to eat or go outside. He hates sirens from first responders. He is wary of children and strangers. We have had him since he was 7-8 weeks old. Since recent life changes, it has been difficult providing the time, exercise, and love he deserves. Winston is an amazing dog and we love him so much. He would thrive in a single dog home for attention purposes. He does well with most dogs. He has not been around cats.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
REPORTED BY FORMER OWNER:Orvin is crate trained and house trained. He spent most of his time outside. He walks pretty well on the leash and knows the sit and down commands and is working on learning the come and stay commands. He’s friendly toward visitors in the home and previously lived with respectful children and could do so again. He has a medium-to-high energy level and enjoys playing fetch. He previously lived with other dogs and got along well with them. He is not a fan of livestock and will chase a cat unless trained not to. OBSERVED BY SHELTER STAFF: Orvin would do best in a very active home where he has something to do. He is eager to please people and would most likely excel at agility. When in playgroups, he does tend to “herd” the other dogs. He would love to be engaged in activities to keep him smart brain stimulated. If Orvin has a good leader, good direction, and a mission, he will NEVER fail you! Orven is driven to give his very best at whatever he does, so proper guidance and follow through are going to be crucial for his new family. He loves to play fetch and will bring the toy right back to you so you can throw it again!Weighs 50 pounds; $25 to adopt.

Story
Hi, I am Shinzo: an 9.5 yr old, 70 lb male McNab mix. The first word that comes to mind when you see me is regal, being poised in my stature, walk and behavior, but you might catch me playfully hopping with my dog buddies. When we first meet I need a moment to stand back to check you out just to determine if you're friend or foe, but don't worry...I'm a love bug after I've made my decision and see that you are worthy. I get along great with the dogs in my foster house, and I am great with kids. (Sorry, I don't like cats though.) I prefer not to bark (even when others are) as I am too well-mannered, but I have a wonderful deep bark if needed. I already know how to use a doggy door and am completely trained to do my business outside. Unlike some of my herding friends, I'm not hyperactive. I do need room and time to exercise (wait till you see how good I am on a leash!) but I also enjoy a nice nap at your side. I might nudge you with my nose if I feel you're ignoring me, but you'll think it's super cute. Don't fret, this regal boy doesn't require a throne...just a home and family where I can show you what a perfect dog I am to love and to love you.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $100. Story
With floppy ears, Luke, age 3, is an adult cattle dog mix with perpetual puppy cuteness and sweetness. Weighing in at 35 pounds, he likes to spend his days cuddled up in a comfy spot staring out the window and is always up for an outdoor adventure. Truly the best of both worlds! Luke has impeccable indoor manners (crate and house trained) and would spend all day curled up by your side if able (it cannot be stressed enough how much he adores people). He is a very smart and treat motivated pup. Luke is working on his leash skills and not getting overly excited around other dogs and with a proper and slow introduction he does well, but truly thrives in home as the only dog. He would love for his forever family to continue his training to support him in being the best pup he can be. Could that be you? Dogs are not placed on a first- come, first-served basis. Story
Chestnut is a 9-year-old, white, black and brown 29.6 pound eloquent and majestic Queensland Heeler. She is totally house and crate trained, gets along with all the other dogs in her foster home, male and female, big and small. She's not a big barker but when out in the back yard will do an occasional bark with other dogs or people to let them know she is there. Chestnut came to be a CAWS dog because she was found as a stray, no collar, tag or chip. She now has a CAWS chip and will forever be safe and secure. We did blood work and it is perfect, whew. Miss Chestnut will chew on your snow boots or shoes if you leave them lying around, so be sure to put them where they belong and give her toys and chewies of her own to chew on. She will also chew through a leash so need to be sure she is not left unattended. Chestnut knows sit and shake. She takes treats very gently. She likes to ruff up the bed into the middle of the room. She is offered to get up on the couch but she does not want to, prefers the floor or her trampoline bed. Chestnut is a perfect assistant during the work week for her foster mom while she works. She rides wonderfully in the car. Chestnut is her foster mom's shadow in the house. This magnificent lady just needs to find the home she can call her own, which she is so deserving of. Chestnut would probably be okay without another dog but she tends to try to play so preferably a home with another dog. If you are looking for a glorious gal to be an unconditional friend, please make arrangements for a meet and greet.
