Story
Meet Buttercup — a smart, sweet, and sensitive girl ready for her perfect home!Buttercup is a 1.5-year-old Border Collie/Cattle Dog mix weighing just 27 lbs, and she’s the perfect combination of sweetness, intelligence, and playful energy. She may start out very shy when meeting new people or entering new environments, but once she feels safe, her loving personality shines. When Buttercup trusts you, she really loves you. This girl is still young and full of puppy energy. She has high exercise needs and thrives on daily walks, play sessions, training, and mental challenges. Her favorite thing in the world is playing with other playful dogs, and she’d be thrilled to have a canine buddy in her new home. She is still learning to read cues from dogs who aren’t interested in playing right away, so continued socialization will help her understand those boundaries as she matures.Buttercup is crate trained, house trained, and learning her leash manners—she doesn’t pull, but she’s still working on confidence while out and about. She’s incredibly smart and eager to please, making training both fun and rewarding. She’s very treat-motivated and loves having a “job” to do. She will need continued training to help with manners (she’s been known to hop onto tables or counters if food is present!), but she learns quickly with guidance. She’s good with other dogs, great with patient kids who allow her time to warm up, and while her experience with cats is unknown, her instinct will likely be to play or chase. Buttercup’s perfect family will be active, committed to ongoing training, and excited to provide her with enrichment and structure. Another dog would be a bonus, but the most important thing is a family who will nurture her confidence and give her the stimulation she needs to thrive. Her adorable looks, her gentle sweetness, and the way she blossoms once she trusts you will have you saying 'as you wish.' If you’re looking for a sweet, bright, eager young dog who will adore you endlessly, Buttercup may be your true love.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Story
Pet’s Story: His owner in Utah recently passed away, and he lost the person he loved most. He is only 4 years old and one of the smartest dogs I have ever met. He is very well trained, highly intelligent, and loves training, mental games, outdoor walks, and attention. He is deeply attached to people, wonderful with children, good with cats, and has lived indoors in a loving home. Outside, he can be cautious with other dogs but may adapt with time and proper introductions. He is sensitive, not aggressive. This is urgent, as without a new home soon, he may be taken to a shelter. He is looking for a loving family to call home again. He has had two owners in his life and becomes very sad and emotionally affected when he has no stable home. He bonds deeply with his people and truly needs to belong to a family. Story
Meet Piper! Piper is a 1 year old Border Collie and Pitbull Terrier mix with a bright mind and lots of youthful energy! She is an active and enthusiastic girl who is still learning to channel her excitement into positive outlets. Piper is still learning how to keep herself busy, and in the past when she gets bored she can get a little creative when rearranging her environment. She will do best with plenty of toys, activities, and outlets for her busy brain. She is new to making dog friends and is excited to keep learning about the world of doghood. When Piper gets happy, her excitement can bubble over into bouncy, wiggly greetings with a little extra enthusiasm, but she is eager to learn and will thrive with positive guidance and consistency. Story
Pixel is an 8 year old petite border collie mix, who will effortlessly melt your heart. She is a bit timid at first, but once she gets comfortable with you she is the sweetest and cuddliest dog you could ever meet. She loves to play “fetch” but does have a bit of a hard time letting go. Pixel is also the queen of tug of war and could play for hours. She’s well mannered, and potty trained. She is reactive to loud or strange noises. She can also be reactive to other dogs when out on walks. She has early stage 2 kidney disease, but the only treatment we do right now for it is a prescription renal support food. Pixel gets along with other dogs, but has behavior issues when it comes to living with them. She’d do best as the only pet in a home with no children, or with children who are older and respectful. One of my favorite things about her is that when she is relaxed her tongue pokes out. She also has the most beautiful eyes.

Mocha is a 2 year old retired mama who had a litter of puppies and was found in Stanislaus County, CA tied to a bench with her baby girl, Roxy. Roxy was adopted but Mocha is still looking for her forever family. Mocha is 40lbs, amazing with children, people and most dogs but does have some resource guarding tendencies with other pups. Her ideal home would be with no other pups or a well mannered pup, and with a family to love her and dote on her. Mocha has high drive and loves playing fetch and learning new tricks. One of her favorite activities is going for car rides! She is the perfect errand buddy. Mocha needs a family to love her and take her on adventures, she deserves it after the hard life she's been through!

Story
Korra is a 7 year old Heeler/Border Collie mix that has already had two homes in her life. She lived her first two years of life with a man in the military who dropped her off at the shelter when he was deployed. She lived her past 5 years with a family in Utah who adopted her from the shelter but decided they no longer wanted the responsibility of a dog... despite how low maintenance Korra is! Korra is now with our rescue in SLC, Utah waiting for a truly deserving family to notice her and love her unconditionally. Korra is wonderful with children and humans. A total love bug who enjoys belly rubs and couch cuddles. She is seven years old but absolutely loves adventures like walks in the neighborhood, hikes or car rides. She is such a perfect companion. She has a gentle demeanor and does the cutest little woofs when she wants to play! Korra has never spent time around dogs and has gotten along with some here at the rescue on walks but it is still unclear how she would do living with another pup in the same home. Please reach out only if you can provide Korra with a loving home for the rest of her life. She deserves it!

Story
Meet Skye – Your Loyal, Sensitive Adventure Buddy &#239&#184&#143Skye is a 9-year-old Australian Shepherd with a gentle soul, a brilliant mind, and a heart that bonds deeply with her person. She’s a shy, sweet, and attentive girl who blossoms into a wonderfully devoted companion once she feels safe.Skye's favorite pastime? Playing fetch with her beloved tennis ball, followed by a cozy hangout with her human. At this stage in her life, she enjoys a balanced routine - daily walks, some ball-chasing fun, and the mental challenge of treat puzzles keep her happy and fulfilled. She's medium-energy, agile, smart, and always up for an adventure as long as she's with someone she trusts.Skye is fully house-trained, crate-trained, and an excellent leash walker. She's responsive to commands like leave it and focus, and she tries hard to make good choices, especially when she's feeling nervous. She takes daily Fluoxetine to help manage her anxiety, which has been beneficial for her. While she's not destructive when left alone, Skye truly prefers companionship and does best with someone who is home often. She is sensitive and protective of her space - quick movements or unfamiliar guests can make her anxious, and she may try to 'herd' people by nipping at heels. Because of this, a quieter home without young children or frequent visitors would be ideal. Skye can coexist with other calm dogs and cats, though she tends to keep to herself and prefers slow introductions. A yard would be a wonderful bonus for her.Skye's perfect match is someone patient, gentle, and understanding - someone who appreciates her quirks, respects her boundaries, and celebrates her incredible loyalty and intelligence. With the right person, she is affectionate, playful, deeply connected, and wonderfully sassy in all the best ways.If you're looking for a smart, soulful companion who will adore you endlessly and join you on meaningful adventures, Skye may be your perfect match. &#239&#184&#143Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
