Story
When I started looking into getting a dog for my child, I never thought I’d end up with the one nobody else wanted. He came from a rejected litter, and somehow, he found his way to us. From the start, I could tell he was different. Not calm or quiet, but full of this crazy, hyper energy that just wouldn’t quit. And honestly? That’s what makes him who he is. He’s wild, yes, but he’s also the sweetest dog I’ve ever known. He loves people—anyone, anywhere. When he gets the attention he craves, he settles right in and shows off how good and well-behaved he can be. He has his favorites in life: long walks where every sound and smell is an adventure, a pile of toys he’ll dig through to find “the one” for a good game of tug, belly rubs that make him melt, and a warm bath at the end of the day. Dog parks visits are the best outing. Life has gotten crazy. My child felt it was more important for him to be happy and get the attention he used to. I only have a fee to make sure people are serious

Story
Hi, I'm Cheer, and yes, I really do try to live up to my name-but think of me as your personal pep squad in a fluffy, slightly wiggly border collie body. I'm a ten-month-old sweetheart who loves gentle affection, soft hugs, and being close to my people. I can be a little sensitive sometimes, so I really appreciate calm, kind hands and a patient approach. I'm playful, cuddly, and always ready to brighten your day, though I might try to jump into your lap to deliver the full Cheer experience. I'm also learning that sharing toys is part of good team spirit, and with positive support I'm improving every day. If you're looking for a loving, sensitive pup who will root for you from sunrise to bedtime, I'm ready to bring the Cheer to your home.*Qualifies for Pets for Patriots program Please email Adoptions@saltlakecounty.gov with questions Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 45 Age: 0yrs 10mths 1wks

Story
I aquired Mika from someone I go to school with. He couldn’t keep her so I took her in. I am now putting her up for adoption in hopes she will find a better home that isn’t a small apartment, she’s an amazing dog and I just wanted her to find a home that is better for her. She’s a very fun energetic and loving dog. She loves attention and being close to people. She like being outdoors good dog for hiking with, running with and camping with. She’s also great for snuggling up on the couch or bed and watching some tv with. Pretty well trained.

Story
Meet Benito – Your Happy-Go-Lucky Adventure Buddy! Basic Info: Name: Benito Breed: Border Collie / Australian Cattle Dog Mix Sex: Male DOB: April 10, 2022 Weight: 46 lbs Intake Date: April 9, 2024 Personality – Happy, Playful & Full of Zest: Benito is pure sunshine on four paws! Always ready to play, explore, or lean in for a pet, he’s got an infectiously joyful personality that will keep a smile on your face. He loves interactive games, running around the yard, and getting belly rubs. Benito thrives on connection and fun—he’s a dog who wants to be in the middle of the action and part of the family. With him, every day is a new adventure. Breed Information: As a mix of Border Collie and Australian Cattle Dog, Benito is naturally intelligent, alert, and active. These working breeds are known for their stamina, loyalty, and sharp minds. Benito will benefit from regular physical exercise and mental stimulation to keep him balanced and happy. Puzzle toys, training sessions, and active play will help him shine. He’s eager to learn and eager to please! Owner Responsibilities: Provide daily exercise: walks, play, fetch, or dog sports Offer mental stimulation through training, puzzles, and games Use positive reinforcement training—Benito is smart and responsive Maintain regular veterinary care and vaccinations Ensure he’s part of the family, not left alone for long periods Provide structure, patience, and love Create a safe, indoor home environment Commitment for Life: Benito is not a short-term companion—he's a lifelong partner. Adopting him means committing to his care, well-being, and happiness for all of his days. He needs a family that understands that dogs are not disposable—they are forever. In return, Benito will give you loyalty, laughter, and love every single day. Do Not Leash Your Dog Outside Unattended: Benito should never be tied up or left outdoors alone. He needs companionship, safety, and interaction. Tethering a dog outside is not only dangerous but also deeply unfair to a social, intelligent dog like Benito. He deserves to be inside, where he can be close to his people and thrive. Why Adopt Benito? Because Benito brings joy wherever he goes. He’s playful without being overwhelming, smart without being stubborn, and affectionate without being clingy. He’s the perfect match for an active individual or family who wants a loyal sidekick with a big heart. Adopt Benito and experience the happiness of having a dog who truly loves life—and loves you. Story
Meet Wednesday! 1 year old • 48 lbs • Border Collie Labrador Retriever MixWednesday is a bright, beautiful girl who’s equal parts playful and sweet. She’s a bundle of energy who loves spending time outside, going for walks, and—her absolute favorite—playing with other dogs! Once she’s gotten her zoomies out, she’s happiest hanging out with her people, following them around the house, or relaxing in a quiet spot under the bed.Wednesday can be a little timid at first and startles easily with sudden noises or fast movements, but once she warms up, her affectionate, goofy side shines through. She’s incredibly eager to please and quick to learn, especially when there’s chicken involved. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, and does best in a home where she won’t be left alone for long stretches. Wednesday is still learning her manners—she can get jumpy when excited and sometimes needs help focusing—but she’s a smart, motivated girl who thrives with patient, consistent guidance.Because she can get overwhelmed in busy or unpredictable environments, Wednesday would do best in an adult-only home that can give her the structure and calm she needs to feel confident. A yard where she can run and play would make her happiest, and having another friendly dog to play with would be a big bonus!Wednesday’s ideal family will give her a “job” to do, plenty of activity, and lots of love and reassurance. In return, she’ll give you endless affection, hilarious ear expressions, and a loyal companion for life. Apply to meet Wednesday at http://caws.org/adoption-applicationAll CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Adoption fee: $200. Story
Meet Pita! Pita is a 9-month-old, 60-pound cattle dog mix who’s as smart as he is playful. His favorite game is tug, and he’s already mastered sit, lay down, wait, stay, leave it, and don’t beg. He’s great on leash, too—he’ll even sit with a gentle pull upward. Food is the way to his heart, which makes him highly trainable. Because he can be protective of his meals, his foster has been teaching him to sit before eating and practice calmly giving up his bowl mid-meal for a tasty reward. With consistency, he’ll keep improving. Pita is house-trained and lets you know when he needs to go out by politely whining at the door. He’s never had an accident, loves chewing sticks, and is eager to learn more every day. This smart, loyal pup is looking for an active home that will continue his training and give him the love and structure he thrives on. If you’re ready for a playful companion with brains and heart, Pita could be your perfect match! Pita is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and ready to find his forever home. Interested in adopting Pita?
