Cute face with soft brown eyes that draw you to her...that’s Holly! She is a one-year-old 43 pound cream colored American pitbull terrier. She’s a low rider. She arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 8/17. At first, she greeted me like the Welcome Wagon with her tail in rapid motion. Apparently she was elated to be getting out of her kennel. It soon became apparent that she was timid and somewhat cautious. With TLC and time she did warm up. It’s very obvious that she has a gentle, calm, easy-going personality. She’s extremely sweet. She climbed on some equipment indicating she’s agile. She sits for treats and takes them gently. She stays close looking up at you with her soft brown eyes. It would be hard not to love her! She was hesitant about walking on the leash but is willing to learn. She’s not a fan of these hot Texas days. She’d prefer to hang out under the AC with her new family and just go out to do her business and maybe take in a few smells. She’s a total love bug!

Meet Becca! She is a 2yr old spayed female Boxer/Terrier mix that weighs 38lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 8/5. She has a zest for life and is adventurous. She is a stunning girl, and loves to race through the shelter yard. After she gets her zoomies out, she enjoys laying down next to me to receive being petted and loved on. She’s very sweet, gentle, affectionate, and curious. She walks well on a leash and takes treats gently. Walking past other dogs she didn’t show any interest in them, yet we do ask if you have another dog in the home, please ask the shelter for a dog test. She can be an escape artist, so she will need a tall secured fence, a yard to play in, then come back indoors so she can cuddle close to her loved ones. She has a heart of gold, please come spend time with her.

Pearl is a 1-2 year old 35 pound adorable brindle American pitbull terrier/Boxer mix that was surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/15 because the owner had too many animals! She is spayed. The surrender form stated that she has lived indoors, is house broken, lived with other dogs, is kennel trained, and knows the “come” command. She didn’t appear to know the sit command, but backed up in an attempt to figure out what I was asking. She did do a little dance. She definitely wants to please. She is very affectionate, calm, very doting and cautiously friendly. Because of her small frame, she could go almost anywhere with you. After some smells and playtime out in the fresh air, she’d love to come in and sack out next to her new family on the couch.

The word daisy symbolizes new beginnings and that’s exactly what we’re hoping, for this sweet Daisy pup that resides at the Mesquite Animal Shelter. Daisy is a spayed one year old 44 pound brindle Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer mix that was surrendered on 10/1 because the owner had too many animals. This is your lucky day because Daisy is an outstanding dog in appearance and in personality! At first, Daisy was timid and shaking, but she warmed up quickly. Once trust was established, she would rub against me to be close. She also bestowed me with kisses. She sits on command. She did frequently look out the gate. I’m assuming she was looking for her owners. She’s affectionate, sweet, gentle, friendly, and well mannered. She was a bit hesitant on a leash. If you’re looking for a dog to love you and make you proud come meet Daisy. She would like to go outside for some playtime and then come in for snuggle time.
