Story
Hello friends! My name is Atari-tari-tar-tar. I'm a really good girl. About a month ago I was taken with a male friend who looked like me into a scary place called a "shelter". I was terrified and about to have babies. Some friends came and got me the next day and told me I was safe and I could have my babies at their house. I took a few days to relax, and then I tried to have my babies. Something was wrong and my friends took me to the vet. When I woke up, everyone was sad, I was very sore, and there were no babies. I heard words like "ruptured uterus", "massive infection", "not viable". I felt very sick and there's no way I could even look for my babies, much less care for them. My friends spent a lot of time with me, took me back to the vet again when I didn't recover quickly, and then again when I got another infection that caused "ruptured mammary glands". The vets are very nice and I get lots of treats when I go. I'm a good patient and let my human friends do anything they want to me, even when I'm hurting a lot.It took a few weeks more, but I'm finally feeling safe and energetic and happy. I adore warm, soft, fluffy places to sleep and it's so nice to know that I will get meals twice a day. My friends have shared their toys with me and I love when they throw a "ball" or "disc" and I try to always bring it back. Sometimes my friends take me on "walks" and I'm really good about not pulling too much, being super gentle with the cat friends, and greeting every new human friend. I'm a little bouncy sometimes and I'm learning that I'm "too big" for laps, even though laps are clearly made for me to sit. I can "sit" on cue and I am happy to sleep in my crate. I really hate when my humans leave me, and while I don't have accidents when I'm with people, I haven't had a lot of practice living in a house yet and I get super stressed if people leave me, so I probably don't need to be left alone and uncrated yet. My friends tell me how smart and pretty I am. I'm learning that other dogs won't attack me again, but I don't know that I'm ready to live with any new dogs yet. I'd really love to find a home of my own. If you know anyone who needs the best house hippo ever, I would love to meet them!
