Story
FOSTER HOME NEEDED!!Danika was abandoned with her friend, Dalton, found living in an abandoned home in 02/2026 and finally rescued on June 1, 2026.  We believe they were loved once as they are very loving and familar with a leash and riding in a car and even seeing the vet.  They had also already been micrichipped (not registered), spayed and neutered and are heartworm negative! She is currently underweight at 53 pounds.  The sweet girl has arthritis in both her knees and will benefit from anti-inflammatories and an orthopedic bed.  We are looking for a calm foster or foster-to-adopt home for her and Dalton together OR separate.   Danika is a little shy at first but warms up fast. She is as sweet as she looks in her pictures and healthy for a 6 to 7 year old pointer/boxer (best guess!) mix. To meet Danika in person visit us at www.dsda.org/foster and submit our online adoption application.  WHEN YOU FOSTER- we provide all the supplies and any medical care still needed such as boosters and monthly heartworm/flea/tick prevention!    ADOPTION FEE Covers: Core vaccines plus Lepto and Flu, all boosters, microchip, dewormer until clear fecal test & spay or neuter when completed by a DSDA vet partner plus any necessary medical care.  All dogs are on flea, tick and heartworm prevention and you receive the following month's preventatives complementary with your adoption!  * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be home more than not. Vet checks are required! All resident pets in the applicant's home MUST be spayed or neutered, core vaccines up to date and dogs on heartworm prevention to be considered! No exceptions.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. Must have a secure fence if in a house. All poisonous plants must be removed from the yard.  DSDA is located in Dallas and requires a home visit on every adoption so only adopt to Dallas and surrounding areas. ##2751019##

Story
Meet Batty — the sweetest little sidekick-in-training!  Batty is already stealing hearts everywhere he goes. This adorable boxer/pitbull mix is expected to grow into a medium-sized best friend (around 40-ish pounds full grown), but for now he’s still a goofy, wiggly puppy discovering the world one adventure at a time. Batty absolutely LOVES his people and thinks kids are pretty great too. Since he’s still teething, he explores the world with his mouth like most puppies do, so he’d do best with older kiddos or younger children who are dog-savvy and understand puppy manners. The good news? Those tiny shark teeth are already starting to fall out! This sweet boy is also fantastic with other dogs and even does well with cats. He often looks to other pets for guidance and confidence, making him a wonderful candidate for a home with furry siblings. Batty is currently working on potty training and proving he’s a very smart boy — his foster mom says he’s doing great! He’s also a rockstar in his crate and doesn’t make a peep, which is pretty impressive for such a young pup. Whether he’s playing, snuggling, or following you around like your tiny shadow, Batty is happiest just being near his people. He’s the perfect mix of affectionate, playful, and eager-to-please. If you’re looking for a fun-loving puppy to grow up with your family and be your loyal best friend, Batty would love to meet you! Applications are at codys_adoption_application. Cody's adopts dogs in the greater Dallas/Ft Worth area, and does not adopt puppies under the age of six months into apartment homes. ##2741488##

Story
Meet Murphy! A charming six-and-a-half-year-old Boxer/American Pitbull Terrier mix currently in Austin, TX, whose essence is a lively blend of curiosity and affection wrapped in a handsome tan coat with bright white accents. He is a 65-pound bundle of energy who greets each day with enthusiasm, especially if it includes long walks, open space to run, and the irresistible promise of cheese treats! Murphy is an affectionate boy who truly enjoys being near his people, happily hanging out wherever the action is. He is playful and high energy, with a love for chewing bones, chasing balls, and hopping into the car for an adventure. His curious nature means he likes to explore, though he can be a little cautious when encountering unfamiliar sights or sounds. With patience and gentle encouragement, he grows more confident and relaxed. Murphy thrives in a consistent routine, enjoying twice daily meals, regular walks, and restful nights in his crate. He is house-trained, comes when called, and knows commands like sit, stay, and come, showing his eagerness to learn and connect. He is friendly with other dogs and has done well with a younger pup, making him a wonderful companion for a home with canine friends. Murphy would do well in an active, structured environment with an experienced guardian who understands large, energetic breeds and can provide a secure fenced yard or room to roam. He may even surprise you with his occasional digging adventures and his joyful enthusiasm for life’s simple pleasures. His love for companionship means he appreciates a present and engaged pet parent who can offer guidance, playtime, and plenty of shared moments. With positive reinforcement and continued learning opportunities, Murphy blossoms into a confident, joyful partner ready for daily adventures and quiet evenings alike with his family. 7-year-old • Female • Tripod Meet Alex—also known as Chelsea—a sweet, soulful girl with a playful spirit and a heart full of love. This calm couch potato is happiest curled up near her people, soaking up attention and giving gentle cuddles. She walks nicely on leash, enjoys her strolls, and greets strangers like old friends. Alex does well with cats as long as food isn’t involved, and she needs to be the only dog in the home. She thrives in a calm, structured environment where mealtimes are managed separately. She’s fully potty trained, relaxed in the home, and has no separation anxiety. Despite being a tripod, she’s recovered beautifully and gets around great—proof that three legs don’t slow this girl down!
