  Ellie is a 7-year old brindle boxer, is spayed, crate trained, potty trained, and is micro-chipped. She loves to snuggle and has a very sweet and relaxed demeanor. Ellie can be a little shy and unsure at first, but warms up quickly.  She likes to gently paw her people on the leg while they're sitting down to get their attention for affection.  Ellie is also very good about staying off of furniture, couches, etc., except for the occasional misplaced paw for attention.   She's indifferent about water, does get distracted on a leash, and she'll usually follow a ball playing fetch but doesn't always bring it back. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped and heartworm negative. She takes inexpensive thyroid medication daily. Ellie is good with kids and will likely need to be an only pet.  Her adoption fee is $200 and you can apply to meet her here:  Adoption Application - Legacy Humane SocietyWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Meet our foster Good Boy! He is a 3 year old pit bull mix that was found abandoned in Dallas. He has been in our care for over a year. He was previously adopted but returned due to owner relocating. Good boy has gone through some basic obedience training. He loves people kids and gets along well with our family dogs. I recommend older children as he is 57 lbs and can still have some puppy energy. Good Boy loves going for walks and laying on the couch with his people. He is looking for his forever family. If you are looking to give a great dog a second chance please consider Good Boy. Good Boy is HW positive but started treatment.

I adopted my dog Joy when she was around 1 year old and have had her since. She is now about 9 years old. I lost my job recently and am having financial problems, which are making it difficult to provide for the dog. I will be moving soon and will be unable to take her with me, so I am looking for a new happy home for my dog. She is not trained, but she is a sweet dog. Joy is microchipped and spayed/neutered, and she has had most of her vaccines. Does well with other people and pets, but needs a bit of time to get to know them and get comfortable.
