***  SOOKIE IS A COURTESY POST  ***  INTERESTED APPLICANTS WILL BE DIRECTED TO CURRENT GUARDIARN *** Meet Sookie – Brains, Bounce, and a Big Border Collie Heart Sookie is the kind of dog who turns a backyard into her own agility stadium. With her athletic build, sharp focus, and joyful leaps, this gorgeous Border Collie absolutely loves practicing jumps and showing off her impressive air. Watching her mid-flight is like seeing a tiny four-legged gymnast in action. But Sookie is more than an athlete. Once she knows you, her serious “working dog” expression softens into something incredibly sweet. She leans in for affection, seeks out her person, and happily melts into pets after a good play session. With her people, Sookie is deeply loyal and wonderfully affectionate in that special Border Collie way. She forms a close bond and loves being near the person she trusts. Because Sookie is thoughtful and sensitive, she thrives with a home that understands her need for a little time and patience when meeting new people. She isn’t the “center of the party with strangers” type. She’s more of a “let’s get to know each other first” kind of girl. Give her that space, and the reward is an incredibly devoted companion. Sookie would do best in a home that can provide: • Slow, positive introductions to new people• A calm environment without small children• A cat-free home• Either life as an only dog or with a very playful, well-matched canine friend• Thoughtful, gradual introductions to other dogs An active home that appreciates the brilliant Border Collie mind will be the perfect match. Whether it’s agility, training games, hiking, or simply learning new things together, Sookie is ready to partner with someone who enjoys engaging both her brain and her athletic spirit. At the end of the day, after the jumps are cleared and the energy is spent, Sookie’s favorite place is right beside her person, soaking up affection and enjoying the quiet connection she values so deeply. If you’re looking for a loyal, intelligent companion who can soar over jumps and then curl up close for cuddles, Sookie might just be your perfect teammate. ##2678098##

Story
Dolly is great. She's good with dogs, but is a little timid if they are bigger than her. She likes people and LOVES treats. Food is the best way to earn her trust. She can sit for treats, is doing wonderful with kennel training, and with the exception of pee pads, has never had an accident inside. She likes the couch a lot, it seems to be her safe space when out with everyone. She'll curl up next to you on the couch to nap or to soak up some affection. She's learning to let us know when she needs to go out, she'll hop off the couch and either wander around or make her way to the back door to let us know she needs to potty. Our favorite quirk of hers is the one folded ear and one that sticks straight up. It's the cutest. She loves pup-cups but can be a little anxious in the car at times, she tries to sit as close as possible to me without actually sitting in my lap lol. Since she's a little shy, she doesn't typically like being approached too fast. She'll back off or go the other way.  Applications at codysfriendsrescue.org   ##2749947##

Story
Meet Jasper! A soulful three-and-a-half-year-old Border Collie/Rottweiler mix currently in Colorado Springs, CO, whose calm, loving heart is wrapped in a stunning 70-pound merle coat. With the gentle spirit of a wise old friend and the quiet loyalty of a true companion, Jasper is the kind of dog who will melt into your side on a cozy evening and follow you room to room just to be close. Jasper thrives in peaceful surroundings and forms deep, meaningful bonds with his people. He does well around children and enjoys their company, but he would do best with calm or older kids who understand boundaries and know how to treat him gently. Loud or high-energy play can make him uneasy, so a respectful home environment will help him feel safe and content. He’s a mellow guy who doesn’t need much to be happy: a soft spot to relax, the comforting presence of his caregiver, and maybe a treat puzzle or two to keep his brain engaged. Food-motivated and clever, Jasper knows a delightful list of commands like sit, stay, paw, spin, and even “middle”, a trick that’s as cute as it sounds! He’s fully house-trained, crate-trained, and perfectly content when left alone, making him a great match for someone who works from home or has a flexible schedule. While Jasper doesn’t require intense exercise, he does enjoy slow, sniffy walks where he can take in the world at his own pace. His favorite pastime? Being in the same room as you, soaking up your presence like sunshine! After being involved in two traumatic incidents with unfamiliar dogs, one when he was a puppy and another more recently, Jasper has developed a strong reactivity to dogs he doesn't know. He may bark or lunge when he sees them, especially near fences or in close proximity, and he continues to work through that with training and patient support. That said, he’s done well with familiar dogs in controlled settings, showing that he can feel safe with the right structure and trust. He’s happiest in a home with a fenced-in yard and a caregiver who values companionship, consistency, and quiet. Loud noises can startle him, but with reassurance, he settles easily. Jasper isn’t just a dog, he’s a constant companion, a quiet presence, and a gentle soul waiting for someone to see the beauty in his sensitive heart. If you’re seeking a loyal, low-key friend who will return your care with quiet affection and soulful eyes, Jasper may just be the one waiting to share your next chapter! To learn more or to welcome Jasper into your life, please reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com.

Story
If you’re looking for a built-in best buddy who’s always up for fun, exploration, and a little silliness, I might just be your guy. I’m mostly white with a splash of ginger on my ears. I was born last July 4th, and I’m an Aussie mix like my mom. Dad is a bit of a mystery, but I like to think that just adds to my charm. I’ve got soft fur, bright dark eyes, and a happy-go-lucky outlook on life.   When I was four months old I had a hearing test and they found that I was deaf in my right ear - this is called "unilateral" hearing.  All this means is sometimes I have move my head around so I can locate sound, so it might take me a second to process.   I love being on the move, checking out new places, and meeting new friends. I’m great with kids and other dogs, and I’m very well adjusted. I’m already crate trained and housetrained too, which means I’m off to a great start as a family companion. My ideal family would be active, enjoy getting out and doing things, and have a backyard where I can stretch my legs, play, and burn off some of my energy. At the end of the day, I’m also sweet and cuddly and happy to soak up love from my people. I’m looking for a person or family who wants a true companion and plans to make me part of their whole life, for my whole life. If you’re ready for laughter, adventure, and a loyal sidekick who thinks you’re the best thing ever, I’d love to meet you. Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor, and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $135 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets.   ##2466427##

Story
Big Bob from the original DSDA Bluey Litter is now almost 4 years old and 52 pounds of handsome, playful floof.    He was adopted as a young puppy into a home with small children, but as he grew up it became clear that busy kid energy just isn’t Bob’s vibe. Some dogs prefer a quieter life, and Bob is one of them, so he has returned to us to find the home that truly fits him. If a peaceful, kid-free household sounds like your kind of place too, Big Bob might be the perfect companion. Bob loves long walks and totally nonreactive to other dogs on leash.  He will happily play fetch whenever you’re up for it. He’s a smart boy who already knows multiple commands and has great manners. In true cattle dog fashion, he’s observant, loyal, and happiest when he has his people nearby.   Because of his herding instincts, Bob will need a home without small children or male dogs. An older female dog in the home may do just fine but Bob as an only dog soaking up all the attention is ideal.    Like many cattle dogs, Bob thrives with active owners, a secure fenced yard, and a family who is home more often than not. Give him a little exercise, a little structure, and a lot of love, and he’ll reward you with a loyal best friend for years to come.   Big Bob has been waiting patiently for the right family. Could that be you?    To meet Big Bob  in person visit our website for more details regarding our adoption process and complete the easy online no obligation adoption application at www.dsda.org/adopt.  * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Vet checks are required. All resident animals must be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative (if applicable). Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. ##1406577##
