Story
Meet Dottie!! Dottie is a 1 year-old, 22 pound Dachshund mix who's ready to be the apple of your eye.
Dottie was born in Trinidad and had a bit of a rough start to life before being rescued by her foster mom, who decided to bring Dottie back to New York with her. Dottie is a perfect New Yorker and is great at going on the subway, happily trotting around the NYC streets and parks. Now Dottie is looking for the perfect forever home!
Dottie has perfect ears that are always at half-mast... unless she is in supersonic zoomie drive, then they are pointed up to the skies like a sail. They help her to go faster when she's running with her foster mom or friends. And Dottie loves stairs! She has so much fun with them, so if you live in a walk-up, she will love to run to your door.
Dottie loves humans, big ones and kids, and also loves dogs and to chase anything you'll throw for her. Dottie is especially proud of the many outfits she wears depending on the weather, and she likes to be dressed up with a jacket or raincoat. Like any New Yorker, she's doing great at adjusting to the NYC weather!
Dottie is house and crate trained, excellent on the leash, and very polite. She knows basic commands like sit, lay down, come, wait and leave it. Because she's so smart, she also understand commands like 'not yours'! Dottie is an intelligent lady, learns quickly, and listens very well.
If you're ready to let this bona fide sweetheart into your life, submit an application for Dottie today!
Dottie is currently being fostered in Manhattan, NY, and her adoption fee is $500.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
