Story
Another perfect girl who spent too long on the streets when she could have been with her family. Beautiful girl, in and out. - Personality: smart, friendly, affectionate, quiet, loves car rides - Good with: people of all ages (including kids), dogs, cats - Training: crate trained, leash trained - Estimated age: 3 years - Weight: 38 pounds (fully grown) - Medical: vetted, up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped w/lifetime registration - Location: Currently located with a foster in Texas, but if adopted, will come to the NJ area on our next transport. - Hazel Background: Stray in TX who was picked up by animal control and taken to be euthanized. Our rescue partners showed up right before she was going to be euthanized, and she was sure she knew this girl and, as she'll do with any other dog, would save her. But this girl, she was pregnant, and yes, her puppies were saved by her. But Hazel didn't want to join the saver that time. Now, Hazel has got it all! This girl is about 3 years old, 38 pounds, and a mixed breed. She is an ideal companion, getting along with everyone - people, other dogs, and cats. She is fully vetted: vaccinated and spayed. She's good in a crate, loves car rides, and is good both on and off leash. As an added bonus, she's quiet. When she was first brought into rescue, she was a bit timid, but after staying with a foster, she's opened up and just needs a new family to call her own. Doxie x Westie mixes . Dutches and Princess! . Can they get any more delicious than these  1.5 yr old girls.  We would love to see them go together (they've been together their entire lives) but would consider placing them separately if there's another size appropriate dog in the home. Both girls are spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. If you would like to meet the girls, please go to petresqinc.org to complete an adoption application. October 9, 2026, 10:10 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Ryder (AL)— the 18monthold male Dachshund/Beagle mix who is so outrageously adorable, it’s honestly a little unfair to the rest of us. This caramelandwhite heartthrob was rescued from a hoarding situation, and somehow he emerged looking like a snack, a gentleman, and a cartoon character all at once. Ryder has that perfect “I’m small but I have big opinions” Dachshund energy mixed with classic Beagle sweetness — a combo that should probably come with a warning label. He’s astoundingly cute. Like, stop scrolling, zoom in, gasp out loud cute. The kind of cute that makes you reconsider your entire schedule because suddenly you need to be home more. The kind of cute that convinces your friends you didn’t adopt a dog — you adopted a living plush toy. And Ryder knows how to work it. He’s friendly, charming, and has mastered the art of the “I’m innocent, please give me a snack” face. He’s ready to leave his past behind and step into a life filled with love, stability, and people who appreciate his very important job: being adorable at all times. If you’re looking for a dog who will make you laugh, melt your heart, and dramatically increase your daily photo storage needs, Ryder is your guy. Apply online to adopt Ryder at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. Ryder's adoption fee is $600.Please be sure to reference this pet's name as Ryder (AL) in case of duplicate names within the rescue. Thank you!All pets are current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 10, 2026, 11:42 am

Story
Dobie - 8 months & 24lbs, Sheltie/Dachshund Mix, Neutered Expected full grown size around 26lbs  This puppy is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Level of dog ownership experience required:INTERMEDIATE – As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also  tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. Energy level:MEDIUM – Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day at a minimum. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?Working on this skill. Puppies under 12 weeks old are often on track with their wee pad skills, but they’re too young to walk outside in public NYC areas yet because they haven’t finished their puppy vaccine series. Puppies older than 12 weeks are usually learning to do their business outside. Potty training takes a lot of patience, consistency, and clean up. Social with dogs?Yes. Some puppies are shy, others are bold, but all have the potential to be taught healthy socializing skills. It’s a huge part of raising a puppy and must be done carefully. How they interact with other dogs depends largely on how their humans help them learn to.  Social with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)Sort of – some puppies enjoy interacting with children, others get easily overwhelmed by their energy and attention. Regardless, most puppies are not a great match for a home with kids under age 8 because they go through intense mouthy play and rambunctious phases and often accidentally hurt young kids while playing. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.  Social with cats?Yes. Most puppies have the potential to be friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to know their cat’s temperament and preferences and to teach their puppy respectful manners.  Mouthy play: High! All puppies go through phases where they chew your stuff and grab your hands, arms, feet… puppies naturally explore the world, play, and test boundaries with their mouths. (It also happens when they’re teething.) Their teeth are super sharp, so it can be a very painful phase for humans and other animals in the home. Proper training, outlets, and socialization are key. Separation anxiety:Most puppies have some level of separation anxiety as they learn to self soothe. Often they cry the first 10+ minutes at night or when they are left home alone or in a crate. Consistent training and alone time is crucial. Leash manners:None or learning, depending on the puppy’s age. Will need to work on this skill.  Crate trained?Probably not. None of our new puppies have been formally trained, but many of our foster parents/adopters choose to crate train so some of the puppies that have been with us for a little while are learning this skill. It can be a great way to keep puppies safe and teach them independence. Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines, spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake. (For dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age.) How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses.  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2861749##

Story
Meet Friends (aka Fran)! Friends is a 10-year-old dachshund with the sweetest personality and the most wonderful temperament. She is happiest when she’s with her people and loves being part of the action. She is incredibly friendly, calm, and gentle, and she has never met a stranger she didn’t want to say hello to. Friends absolutely loves her walks and exploring NYC. She takes her time and enjoys a leisurely sniff walk, stopping to investigate all the interesting smells along the way. She doesn’t need to rush anywhere and is perfectly happy taking in the world at her own pace. When she’s home, Friends loves being close to her people, getting lots of pets, chewing on her favorite bone, and of course enjoying her treats and food. She is a quiet girl overall and communicates in her own adorable way whenever she wants or needs something. She is house trained and does best with regular potty breaks throughout the day. Friends also loves to burrow under blankets and make herself a cozy little nest when it’s time to relax. She is affectionate and easygoing, and happiest when she can simply hang out with her people. She has such a sweet presence and would make a wonderful companion for someone patient who is looking for a gentle senior pup to share their days with. Follow @fran.the.doxie on Instagram to see daily updates of her adventures! ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at WaldosRescue.org and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it's a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog. We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs. Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States and Korea. ##2847186##

Story
Meet Faith! Some dogs have a story written in their eyes, and sweet Faith is one of them. Faith is a beautiful 2-year-old Dachshund mix weighing about 25 lbs, and despite whatever her life may have looked like before coming to us, she has nothing but love in her heart. Faith has scars around her neck, a reminder that this precious girl may not have always been treated with the kindness she deserved. But you would never know it from her personality. She absolutely loves people, enjoys being around other dogs, and is wonderful with kids. She is simply a LOVE. Absolutely loves people Sweet, affectionate & ready for a family Faith isn't asking for much-just a family who will love her, cherish her, and make sure the rest of her life is filled with everything she should have had from the beginning. Her scars may be part of her past, but they don't define this beautiful girl. Faith is loving, forgiving, affectionate, and ready to start the best chapter of her life. Now it's Faith's turn to know what forever feels like. Whoever adopts this special girl is going to get one incredible little best friend.
