PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. To see more pictures of this dog, please visit our Facebook page and look under “photos” and then “albums”. 4-year-old female Dachshund, about 17 pounds. Emma is a super sweet and friendly girl that was surrendered with her son and a cat sister. She is a doll baby. Loves everyone, loves to eat, loves to snuggle. She is not a big barker but does whine when she wants something. She is looking for a Doxie savvy family that understands what owning a long-backed dog means, ramps and all. A family ready to keep her back safe, belly trim and body well exercised! She is a tad overweight at this time! She is crate trained, learning to walk on a leash, does great with the dogs in her foster home. Great for toenails and bathing. Would do best with a secure yard and older Doxie savvy children. Obviously great with cats! Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend or by private meet and greet after application review. For a list of current scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events. Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. To see more pictures and some videos of this dog, please visit our Facebook page and look under “photos” and then “albums”. 9-year-old female Chiweenie, about 15 pounds. Cherokee is a sweet yet shy girl. She gets very attached to her person and likes to follow around, sleep and cuddle with them. She has a very Doxie personality; smart, opinionated, LOVES to eat and sometimes be vocal. She does not like to share her house with other dogs regardless of temperament, so she needs to be an only dog OR with a human that is very dog pack savvy. She is long and low, with the typical Doxie body, so all the normal Doxie long back protection steps should be taken. Not too fat, ramps, steps and such to prevent her from jumping down from high places. She grows crazy long toenails too, so be prepared to clip and snip regularly! She lets you know when she has to go outside. If you like a dog that likes to get dressed up, she's your gal! Bring on the dresses and sweaters! She does not necessarily need a fenced yard but would love to go for walks and probably no kids under 10. Story
To see more pictures and some videos of this dog, please visit our Facebook page and look under “photos” and then “albums”. Meet Gravis 💛 Gravis is a 2-year-old Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix) weighing about 15 pounds — the perfect compact companion with a huge heart. In December, six dogs were heartbreakingly abandoned in a cemetery. Only four were found alive — Tombey, Lillith, Wednesday, and sweet Gravis — and thankfully they made their way to safety. Gravis hasn’t let his rough start dim his joyful spirit one bit. Gravis is an adorable blend of playful puppy energy and devoted lap dog. He’s happiest when he’s: Wrestling with another playful pup Tossing around (and proudly de-stuffing!) his beloved toys Going for walks or zooming around the yard Sunbathing like a tiny king Snoozing peacefully in your lap at the end of the day He still has some charming puppy habits — like “helping” with gardening by digging small holes, collecting socks for safekeeping in his bed, and bravely alerting you to suspicious birds. On the bright side, he’s an excellent kitchen floor cleaner (no crumb left behind), a loyal bathroom security guard, and a dedicated playmate who will happily tire himself — and his doggy sibling — out. Gravis bonds especially closely with the woman in the home and may be timid around men at first. He does not have a mean bone in his body. He is potty trained, incredibly sweet, and keeps us laughing every single day. His ideal home would include: Another playful dog to wrestle and romp with He might also do well as an only dog as long as he gets his walks and exercise. A secure yard to run and explore Children age 8 or older (he gets nervous around younger kids) A patient family who will let his confidence continue to grow He gets along well with most dogs and does fine with cats. Gravis is ready for his forever home — one filled with playtime, sunshine, and plenty of cozy lap naps. To request an adoption application, please email smidgetrescue@hotmail.com Could Gravis be the joyful little shadow you’ve been waiting for? 🐾 Adoption contract and fee applies. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 1.5 year old Chiweenie, about 8 pounds. 6 dogs were abandoned in a cemetery and only 4 were found alive. Tombey, Lillith, Gravis and Wednesday luckily found their way to us in December. Wednesday's foster parents have worked diligently to get her ready for adoption as she was the most fearful of the group. Wednesday is a very sweet but timid girl. When she feels comfortable with her human, her personality really shines. She is a high energy girl who loves to play, whether it is with her human friends or her dog friends. She is a fashionista with a love of clothes and shoes and when you’re not watching she likes to collect them from throughout the house and bring them to you. She loves to be with her person and is an amazing snuggler. Wednesday is still getting comfortable with walking in crowded areas but does well on a leash otherwise. She will require a patient and consistent human to help her become all that she can be! She would do best in a house with a fenced yard. She does great with older kids and really needs a playful and confident pooch in the home. Such a sweet girl. Story
Hello, My name is Gigi (short for Guinevere). I am a super sweet little girl. I am a bit shy, a bit scared of new things and environments, but am a SUPER CLING ON that loves her humans! And I am on the hunt for my SUPER CLING ON aka snuggly human! I think I am a full bred short haired doxie, as my mommy was, but we do not know for sure who my father is/ what breed he was. I am about 12 lbs and about 6-7 years old, female, cuter that cute wiggly worm (see my zero great pics.. I wiggle A LOT). I have super short hair, and am cold all the time, so I want to snuggle all day everyday, and be held, and carried around wherever you go. Not that this is a requirement, but it basically is. I like to lick your feet and be under them. I am a MAJOR tripping hazard. Not that this is a requirement, but it basically is. My story is long… I can tell you if we get to our… 2nd visit?... or at least 2nd smooches… and, not sure about you, but I give LOTS of smooches. Basic story: My doggie mom died when I was 3 DAYS old from (advanced stage 3 heartworms)… and my 2 sisters (one passed within a week), and I were bottle babies- at an age not survivable by almost anyone. My other sister was my bosom bestie until a few months ago when she passed. I also lost my human mom. Anyways, I am not used to being alone. I can be taught, but there will be a learning curve. I like food, but the soft and yummy type. I need a dental, plus I never loved hard kibble. SO…. if I'm left in a safe spot, and a new routine is established, I will learn to be ok again. My foster mom has worked on it, and a sound machine has been her life saver apparently… she says mine too... But if that crazy lady would just commit to 24/7 snuggles we wouldn't have this issue! Foster mom is odd… she only gives 16/7 snuggles… she blames work…???... I call it RUDE. This ‘work’ of hers… they must be awful to not let her have 24/7 snuggles! Not my kind of people! I'm not good on those choke ropes… “leashes.” Foster mom keeps trying to momsplain/ ‘tell’ me they are necessary so I don't get too far away…. And so critters dont swoop after me and eat me… im long and lean and skinny just the right size for a bird of prey or coyote she says… but … whatever… I hate those “leashes!” (aka I need leash training slowly). In summary: I love to cuddle, dance, lick your feet, be silly, tap dance with my super huge feet to body ratio. I need a home that loves me for me, doesn't trip on dogs under their feet constantly, and can cuddle me as close to 24/7 as we get! Oh, also, I have been piddling on rugs and in the house… and outside like every 60 seconds… so foster mom took me to the vet, I am on an antibiotic, and will get results Monday to see if this is the right antibiotic. But I may need to stay away from rugs/ carpet for a bit at least. I am heartworm negative, and up to date on my 3 years rabies (just redone), microchipped, just had blood work today, and soon to be up to date on my other vaccines. Before I was adopted the 1st time, I had not weighed enough to be spayed… even at 3 years old. My adopter chose not to spay me as I was still tiny, and not around any other dogs, except my sister. I need to be re-evaluated for a spay when I get my dental, once I am adopted. My adoption fee is $400, but with proof of dental and spay evaluation, $200 of this will be refunded.

Story
General about info for the dogs currently listed in this group: Permanent, Loving Homes Needed for Senior Rescue Dogs Over many years, I have monitored and tried to help this particular group of dogs. These dogs have been loved, responsibly vetted, and cared for throughout their lives, though not in an ideal overall situation. They were in a somewhat hoarding situation… not the typical not cared for at all one, but still applies. They were kept clean and fed and I paid for most of their vet care along the way, but their owner would not surrender them until now. Due to this: Adoption fees are all $300, but will be returned once proof of dental is given. I am finally allowed to find them homes, and cannot provide the level of long-term veterinary care these dogs deserve — including dental work, senior monitoring, and ongoing medical needs, thus, I am seeking permanent, stable homes where their remaining years can be lived with comfort, dignity, and consistency. What I am looking for • A calm, stable home • Someone experienced with senior dogs • Financial ability to provide ongoing veterinary and dental care • A commitment to keep them for life — no rehoming • Patience, kindness, and realistic expectations These dogs are older (aged 8 to 12 years old), and while many are still active, affectionate, and content, they will require the kind of care someone prepared for senior dogs can provide. What I will provide Full transparency about age, temperament, and medical needs Important medical history is known I do not have every vaccine record/etc but they are all spayed/ neutered, microchipped, and current on rabies vaccines Time for proper introductions Careful, thoughtful placement — this will not be rushed I am open to placing individual dogs or compatible pairs, and I will work closely with the right people to ensure a good match. If you are genuinely experienced with senior dogs and are prepared — financially and emotionally— to care for one for the rest of their life, please reach out by private message and tell me about yourself, your home, and your experience. These dogs deserve peace, safety, and love for the remainder of their lives. Thank you for reading with compassion. Hello, My name is Aurora. I am about 9 years old, and was born 10/7/2017. I am fully vetted, and in great health. First of all, please know I am WAY cuter than my pictures do justice. I am a little wiggle butt, and my foster parents have had trouble getting a good picture of me. Also, the white on my face makes me look way older than I act. It has progressed since I was a baby, but I really dont act like an old lady! My only issue is that I am desperate need of a dental cleaning. My teeth are better than my sister from the same litter, who just found a home, but she had to have almost all of her teeth removed. I will most likely need at least a good portion of mine removed as well. The good news is that my shining personality will make up for this slight issue. I am beyond happy to do whatever you do, as long as you give me a chance to get to know you. My dog mommy, whom I was around for the 1st year of my life, and thus learned a lot from her, was super nervous natured. I am not like her often, except at first in new situations. I will need probably about 2 weeks to settle in before you try to take me on walks outside or anything similar. I do use potty pads very well, though so that makes this transition time easier. I am silly with a lot of energy. I do like food, but not super food obsessed. I love cats and other small dogs. I will NOT do well around children unless they are older and super patient and super calm with me. I am FULLY vetted: fixed, 3 year rabies, DDAVP, microchip, heartworm tested negative multiple times, including recently, and current on heartworm and flea preventative. My stuff comes with me (crate, bed, toys, hw flea prev for 3-6 months depending on where I am in between vet visits). Still needed: dental, and lepto if you plan on taking me outside in any possible standing water your yard or other places. This wasnt a thing in Houston, but apparently is here.

Story
Firn is an 11-month pup rescued from a high-kill shelter in CA and brought to Seattle recently. Sadly, just days after arriving, her new big sister was diagnosed with cancer. Because of this, Firn can’t get the dedicated time and training focus she deserves at this pivotal age.Firn is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She’ll hop into your lap for cuddles and belly rubs immediately! Loves fetch and will wear herself out chasing toys, then wants to settle in and snuggle. She can be timid around men initially but warms up quickly with treats. She loves other dogs. She has a puppy’s curiosity but learns fast. She is already doing great with her potty and kennel training! She sleeps through the night in her kennel. She is a fast learner who thrives on routine and clear communication.Ideal for an active home that understands smart, young dogs.Needs to continue her training foundation.Needs daily exercise and mental stimulation.

RAY IS A FOSPICE DOG (foster hospice) who will live out his life with MZ. You can SPONSOR his care! Please inquire if you are interested: give@motleyzoo.org Ray is 15 years young and been through a lot. Recently he lost his person who was unable to care for him anymore due to health reasons (in the human)- so we took him on where he can continue to enjoy the twilight of his time, surrounded by love and comfort. He has a long list of medical concerns from heart murmur, to oral fistulas (holes in his gums into his sinus cavity), missing and rotting teeth, IVDD as well as arthritis...but seriously, we want to bottle what this guy has because he's got spunk! He is a pretty chill dude but still finds the energy to run the fence chasing his neighbor pups and totters around the house looking for a soft place to snuggle. He's surrounded by other littles and a loving human who will continue to provide whatever he needs- until it's his time. Celebrate the seniors by sponsoring Ray's care. For as little as $10/ mo you can support his comfort for as long as we can continue to make that possible.
