PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. To see more pictures and some videos of this dog, please visit our Facebook page and look under “photos” and then “albums”. 9-year-old female Chiweenie, about 15 pounds. Cherokee is a sweet yet shy girl. She gets very attached to her person and likes to follow around, sleep and cuddle with them. She has a very Doxie personality; smart, opinionated, LOVES to eat and sometimes be vocal. She is long and low, with the typical Doxie body, so all the normal Doxie long back protection steps should be taken. Not too fat, ramps, steps and such to prevent her from jumping down from high places. She grows crazy long toenails too, so be prepared to clip and snip regularly! She lets you know when she has to go outside. If you like a dog that likes to get dressed up, she's your gal! Bring on the dresses and sweaters! She does not necessarily need a fenced yard, but would love to go for walks and probably no kids under 10. She does need a bit more work on not pulling on the leash. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 7-year-old male Chiweenie ?, about 15 pounds. Don't let his age fool you! He is full of energy, love and beautiful coloring. His foster mom has two very docile Shih Tzu girls who tolerate his exuberance with patience. Ollie is learning boundaries and rules (do not lift your leg in the house, do not hump your foster sisters, do not walk on the living room end tables, sleep in your crate at night, etc.). He would do well with confident dogs and an owner who is not a pushover because he is smart enough to take advantage of a softie. He takes direction well! :) He has taken to the doggy door with little instruction. Though his foster mom has gates on the stairs, he figured out pretty quickly how to go through the balusters to access the upstairs of the house. He would do well with someone who is active and will keep him intellectually stimulated. Ollie just wants to love his people, take some adventurous walks, eat, snuggle in his favorite donut bed and be loved in return. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 1.5 year old Chiweenie, about 8 pounds. 6 dogs were abandoned in a cemetery and only 4 were found alive. Tombey, Lillith, Gravis and Wednesday luckily found their way to us in December. Wednesday's foster parents have worked diligently to get her ready for adoption as she was the most fearful of the group. Wednesday is a very sweet but timid girl. When she feels comfortable with her human, her personality really shines. She is a high energy girl who loves to play, whether it is with her human friends or her dog friends. She is a fashionista with a love of clothes and shoes and when you’re not watching she likes to collect them from throughout the house and bring them to you. She loves to be with her person and is an amazing snuggler. Wednesday is still getting comfortable with walking in crowded areas but does well on a leash otherwise. She will require a patient and consistent human to help her become all that she can be! She would do best in a house with a fenced yard. She does great with older kids and really needs a playful and confident pooch in the home. Such a sweet girl. Story
6-year-old female Chiweenie, about 9 pounds. Sabine is a sweet, snuggly female Chiweenie. She has a gorgeous chestnut red coat - even her tiny little eyelashes are red! Sabine was rescued from a dog-hoarding situation, and she does very well with other dogs and cats but can be timid toward humans and new spaces and is very wary of men. She bonds quickly with her female foster human(s) and is a very loyal little lap dog. She enjoys toys and can happily entertain herself or play fetch with you. She will definitely make you laugh with her playful antics! Sabine would prefer a fenced yard, as she enjoys sniffing around and sunning when weather allows. She's good on walks and shows no leash aggression toward other dogs. At home, she loves attention and spending time with her people. She is a fantastic cuddler and will gladly join you for lap snuggles and snoozes, but will also give space when needed and happily rest in a dog bed nearby when you are busy. Sabine shows no separation anxiety and does fine left at home alone and does well with housetraining. Sabine would be the perfect fit for a calm home with a single woman or female-only household, especially if you work remotely or are retired. Sabine recently had a dental and small MCT removed. She is now ready to find her furever home! To learn more or request an adoption application, email smidgetrescue@hotmail.com.

Meet Anastasia! 🐾 Anastasia is a petite 7-8 year-old, 9-pound sweetheart looking for a patient, loving home of her own. She is incredibly loyal and affectionate once she knows and trusts you. Anastasia isn’t the kind of girl who gives her heart away immediately—she needs a little time to settle in, decompress, and get comfortable with new people. But once you become her people, you’re in! She bonds deeply and is a wonderfully devoted companion. Anastasia does well with small, older, polite dogs and is great with cats. A quieter home where she can adjust at her own pace would be ideal. She is: Spayed Microchipped Up to date on rabies vaccination Current on heartworm and flea prevention Anastasia does need a dental, which her adopter should plan to address with their veterinarian. And about that haircut! 😊 Anastasia normally has an adorable soft, scruffy coat, approximately 1–1½ inches long. Her very caring foster recently gave her an extra-short summer haircut to help keep her comfortable in the upcoming heat. The short-haired photos were taken July 20, 2026, so her trademark scruffy look will grow back! Anastasia is currently being fostered in the Seattle area. Adoption fee will be returned once proof of follow-up veterinary care is provided. If you’re looking for a small, loyal companion and are willing to give her the time she needs to feel safe and settle in, Anastasia may be your girl. ❤️

Story
Hey All! My names Jordan and I'm currently Gus's dad. Gus is an amazing, sweet, and extremely affectionate 1 year old pure bred Dachshund! While I am heartbroken to lose him, my schedule just can't keep up with the pace needed to keep this little guy around after some significant life changes. He was originally $5K and I am looking for an adoption fee for him. He is an apartment dog and is comfortable with smaller spaces, but loves a good long walk and some free room for the zoomies. He is a cuddler but is more than comfy in his crate which he finds as a safe space. Ideally looking for someone who is home more than I can provide. I live in Tacoma and can drop him off at any time to anyone in WA. If you are out of state I also have a way to have him safely delivered to you for the cost of travel.

Story
Welcome Cosmo to CCPAL Rescue. Cosmo is an Dachshund/Beagle is our best guess. He is about 18 pounds now and should be small sized full grown. We think 25 full grown. He is very sweet, has good eye contact and has a soft coat and down ears. He is active and the group is vocal but not over the top. He is one of the shyer pups and would be great for a family or person that is moderate to less active. He won’t be the social butterfly but will be a fantastic companion pet for someone. If a person is a quieter person wanting an easy and loveable pup that is content being with you, this is your match. A person that does not work all day every day for 5 days a week is the best for a puppy. Someone that can work from home some or has partial days or some days off to spend to help your new puppy acclimate is best. You need time to be with your puppy to socialize them and to finish off their puppy training. Cosmo was very easy to handle taking his photos and he wasn’t afraid of new people and liked being held. He sat on the table with confidence while we worked with him. He is getting daily attention and holding at the Rescue. He is getting his DHPP vaccinations and dewormed. He is good in his play group. He is kenneled in the evening and is learning to go potty on a wee pad. He is currently at the CCPAL Rescue in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

Story
Welcome Mutz to CCPAL Rescue. Mutz is a 3-year-old Daug (Dachshund /Pug). He weighs about 12 pounds and is full grown and a nice weight. This dog came from the hoarder or overabundance of dog situation. He has an adorable underbit and has really blossomed at the Rescue. He is a quieter dog and has learned to like to be held. He is definitely a lap companion. He is playful with other dogs and has the sturdy body of the Pug. He would love to be a companion for a person that is retired, partially retired or maybe someone with a household that wants a dog with a lower energy to join in. He would be ok with a smaller condo size yard. He is learning leash manners and getting used to commotion of the Rescue. He hasn’t experienced a lot of different things so he isn’t sure yet but he is really really nice. He is not a big shedding dog. He is fine with nail trims and baths and will make some lucky family a great companion. I would say anyone moderately active would be fine for this dog. He bonds deeply and he warms up with affection nicely. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is getting vaccinations, neutered and he will be ready for his forever home soon. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200. Story
Welcome Arty to CCPAL Rescue. Arty is a 2 year old Dashchund/Parsons Jack Russel is our best guess using AI technology. He weighs 25 pounds. This boy is very sweet. He is calm, good with other dogs, relatively quiet and not too vocal. This description doesn’t fit with the breeds mentioned but this is his behavior. He is good with other dogs and very laid back. He has a coarse coat, and it isn’t too much of a shedding dog. He is sturdy enough to be a good walking companion. He would be fine in a smaller yard like a condo yard and would be ok with a moderately active family. He is a gem and he loves humans, despite his previous experience with them. He is kenneled with another small dog that came from the same place and he does well. He will be neutered soon and looking for his forever home. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is $450 and transport to one the areas above is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.
