Story
Hi, I’m Laya. I am a 10 year old rescue dog who has spent way too much time at Humane Society. I am looking for a forever home. I may not be very photogenic, I am adorable in person. I know this because a nice lady named Anne has been taking care of me and she tells me this every day. Here is what else she says about me: “Laya is a people-pleaser. She is quiet, responsive to commands, easy to have around, loving and grateful for your care. While she can be a bit of a couch potato indoors, she is always ready to go outside. Bring out the leash and she jumps for joy. Laya knows the rules of living in a home. She doesn’t jump up on people or furniture, she only pees and poops outside. She doesn’t chew things or beg for food. She likes to be an only animal companion. Laya is great with people and kids. I have come to love Laya in the short time she has been with me. I wish I could keep her. It will make me sad to take her back to the kennel.

Story
Two weeks ago I found a dog on the street. She’s very sweet, good with children, gets along with other dogs, loves cats, and has no issues with any other animals. I took her to the vet and had all the necessary check-ups done. She’s healthy, but she has been neglected for a long time and is very thin—she needs to gain some weight. I’ve had her with me for two weeks, but I work evenings right now, and I can’t keep her in my building—they’ve already complained. I unfortunately have to find a place for her tomorrow, and if I take her to a shelter, I’ve already checked: they will put her on an adoption list for few days, and if she’s not adopted, they will put her to sleep. I was wondering if someone might be able to help

Story
Atlas exemplifies resilience, unconditional love, and gratitude. This boy endured some of the worst , unimaginable pain, suffering, starvation, and abuse , a dog could experience. After being evidently used as a bait dog, Atlas's lifeless and ripped up body appeared at the shelter, clinging onto life. The hope and will to survive in his eyes were seen immediately, along with his naturally sweet demeanor as he instantly met every vet and staff with tail wagging, kisses, and such trust. He knew he was finally free and safe from a life of horror. He is now recovered, and as his wounds continue to heal, his personality and confidence grows bigger each day. He is a quick learner and eager to please so although he is still working on proper manners , he has shown us that with continued patience, routine, structure and consistency he will be the best boy! He has a bright, very energetic and puppy playful demeanor , where he clearly thinks he's still "chihuahua size" and that he can greet everyone with big open arms and slobbery kisses. He has done well with dogs, but as always slow and proper introductions are always required. He is house and crate trained. He will require someone experienced with the breed to ensure you provide him the exercise and adventure he deserves.

Story
Hank is a gentle giant. Although he is 80 lbs, he has no clue he is a big dog. He is so sweet, incredibly well behaved, on the chill side with occasional zoomies and spurts of energy. Would make an excellent cuddly buddy. He is good with dogs and eager to please. Walks great on leash, knows basic commands, and LOVES to play with his toys. If he needs independent time, he is very content in his bed playing with his toys.

Story
Andy is a sweet boy who's true colors are hidden behind fear. He needs an extremely patient home who is willing to work with him as he continues to gain confidence and trust. He does not do well to authority and everything with Andy is at his pace. He is excellent and very affectionate when hes not in a situation where he feels threatened. He does not like to be "forced" to go to a playpen or a crate, however, he will gladly walk in there himself with toys or a treat. He will never react without very clear warning signs, often displayed with tail tucked and a low growl showing he is uncomfortable. He can be extremely clingy , affectionate and cuddly, but on his terms. He does not yet enjoy being forcefully picked up, but if sitting on the floor he will leap right into your lap and beg for gentle pets. He seems to do well with smaller dogs, and since he has not been tested with larger dogs it would be best to not adopt out to that.
