Story
Walker is ready to find his furever home! He'll always have a funny gait, but his legs have healed wonderfully. This sweet, 7-month-old boy has been making so much progress! He’s getting the hang of his sit, lay down, and kennel training and is becoming such a wonderful companion. He’s wonderful with other dogs and absolutely adores children! He also loves the cats in his foster home — maybe a little too much. He’s still learning to respect their space and can be overly curious and playful, but he has never shown any signs of aggression toward them. His favorite part of the day is relaxing outside — you can almost always find him stretched out in the grass, soaking up the sunshine or happily joining you for porch time. He would love a home with a fenced-in yard where he can safely run around, explore, and play with his toys. He’s the perfect mix of playful, goofy and cuddly. He loves being close to his people and is going to make a lucky family very happy! ❤️🐶 All dogs go to their new homes spayed/neutered, microchipped and current on preventatives and age-appropriate vaccinations. Story
Meet Pancake! 🥞 She is one of the 7 Aussie or Aussie mix pups dumped on the side of the road. Though she is visually impaired and deaf, you’d never know it by the way she zooms around, follows her people, and throws herself into playtime. She has learned to navigate the world beautifully and doesn’t let anything slow her down! She is working on touch commands, but still has a lot to learn. Visual cues have been tried, but her fosters believe that she is not able to see well enough and touch commands would be a better fit for her. This girl is FULL of energy and personality and highly food motivated. She would thrive in an active home with respectful and patient kids, playful dogs, or anyone ready for adventures and lots of fun! Pancake absolutely loves having friends to romp around with, but when the day is done, she’s more than happy to crash on the couch for snuggles and naps. She is dog and cat friendly, but is very curious, so would likely do best with a cat with some patience, and could fit nicely into a multi-pet home. Story
Well hi there - my name's Elanore, but my foster mom calls me Ellie! I’m a sweet little 14yr old, 13lb Chiweenie, with a frosty face and soft brown eyes, who lost her family a while back. I came to RCHS with numerous health problems: I had heartworm disease, multiple tumors and horrible dental disease. After months of treatments and a few surgeries, I’m all fixed up now and ready to live my bestest life!! I’m pretty laid back and love to nap, but then I’m a mature lady who doesn’t care to go crazy or chew things up. Toys, nope, they are for babies; just give me a soft doggie bed and a blanket or towel to cover myself during the day and I’m good! I like to follow foster mom around the house, as I feel safer when I know she is nearby, but otherwise, I’m pretty quiet. I like to sleep on the bed with mom and will cover myself up with a little doggie throw blanket. I just find it comforting to be close to my people. I’m fine with other dogs, except puppies who want to constantly play with me - I just can’t have that! After all, I’m a dignified mature lady! Older dogs who will leave me alone to nap are great, and cats don’t bother me a bit, I’m fine with them - they are usually much too snooty anyway. I don’t really bark, so I accidently learned how to jingle some bells that foster mom had hanging from the door knob, when I want to go outside to potty. Who says you have to be a puppy to learn new tricks!! Occasionally I forget to use the bells, but I will still go to the door. If you ask me if I have to go outside to potty, I will go with you to the door and go outside. Who says you have to be a puppy to learn new tricks!! I’m pretty much finished with all my medical issues, except I’m still recovering for the next few weeks from my big dental (that mean dentist removed all but 8 of my teeth!) and my tongue will often hang out of my mouth. But that’s okay - it’s a cute little pink tongue. I am now a bit messy when I eat or drink, so foster mom put down an absorbent little mat to soak up the water, but never fear, I will “hoover” up any of the food that missed my bowl while I ate! At my age I’m not much of a jumper, so my foster mom bought a couple of foam stairs so I can get up on the couch and the bed at night and it only took me a few minutes to figure them out. I’m kind of smart like that. I’m looking for a quiet family, maybe with someone who is home most of the time, as I do get anxious when left by myself - but don’t worry, I won’t tear things up. I just get a bit scared that you aren’t coming back and I'll bounce all over when you do come back, so you will know how much I missed you. I probably would not do well in a house with little kids; maybe teens would be ok. I'm looking for a family who would understand that I’m an older lady, who no longer 'fetches' or plays with toys like a puppy, but would happily lay by them for pets and a few belly rubs. Story
Hi there! My name is Ricky, sometimes referred to as “Ricky Taquito”! I'm an 8lbs, senior chihuahua looking for a place to call home. I was saved from euthanasia at a big shelter, after I was found roaming the streets as a stray. Although my history is unknown, I have adjusted to the inside-life quite well. I'm a very sweet boy who loves cuddles, scratches, zoomies, naps and a good stroll-n-sniff. I haven’t taken a liking to leash training, so I will need a fenced-in backyard where I can explore and potty. Speaking of potty, I picked up on the training almost immediately! I rarely have accidents inside and I’m a very neat little boy. I would do well in a home with or without other pets, as I get along with my neighbor pups in our shared backyard, but I currently reside as the only pup in my foster home. I think I’d be alright with kids as long as they can be respectful of my desire for personal space at times. If you are looking for a quiet, kind and handsome pup to join your family, please consider me as an addition. I can’t wait to find a family to enjoy my golden years with! All dogs go to their new homes spayed/neutered, microchipped and current on preventatives and age-appropriate vaccinations. Story
If there were an Olympic event for loving snacks, Cocoa would be bringing home the gold medal! This handsome guy is highly food motivated and firmly believes that every good decision should be rewarded with a treat. The good news? It makes him eager to learn and a lot of fun to train! Cocoa is the perfect mix of adventure buddy and cuddle bug. He loves getting out for long walks, exploring new places and investigating every interesting smell along the way. He’s still polishing up his leash manners, but he’s a smart boy who listens well and responds to correction. When he’s not out adventuring, Cocoa is more than happy to soak up all the tummy rubs and snuggles you can offer. He absolutely adores other dogs and would love a playful canine companion. Unfortunately, his current foster siblings aren’t nearly as excited about playtime as he is, but that doesn’t stop him from trying! To top it all off, Cocoa is fully housetrained and kennel trained, making him an easy addition to a lucky family’s home. Cocoa has so much love, personality, and joy to share. Now he just needs a family to share it with! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our application here: http://www.rchsks.org/our-animals/adopt-a-pet/adopting-a-dog. Story
Bear is a loving male atleast 50lb puppy born Sept 24,2025. Ive had him since he was 6 weeks old. He is a big puppy and he needs a yard to run in and possibly a doggy door to go in and out of freely. He is up to date on shots but not neutured. He loves to play with other dogs but does chase cats. He is good with kids but would say older kids would be better around him just because he doesn't understand how big he is. He does know some basic commands. He is kennel trained but has to wear a bark collar to prevent him from barking. He went through basic training and was trained on a prong collar and learns very quickly on it. Loves walks and does great on a leash with his prong collar on. If any questions please message me. For some reason it wont let me download pics of him but if you email me Id be happy to send you one.
