Story
This is Xylo... This older gentleman has been here in our shelter since July 2023, due to a housing issue. Xylo is 7+ years, and 66 lbs, he's a true shadow dog, wanting to be by your side & getting all the loving. This big guy knows sit, paw, and down. Xylo loves to please his person. He can be dog selective and is recommended to be the only pet. We are recommending he go to a home with no small children due to his strength and size.Update 4/27/24 Xylo had a suspicious growth removed last week, but thankfully the biopsy came back that it was benign (Not cancer)! Now he's back to acting like a puppy again and ready for his furever family. Primary Color: Brown Brindle Secondary Color: White Age: 9yrs 7mths 2wks

We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Thank you for choosing rescue!!

Story
Danny is a 1 year old Weimaraner mix who came to us from the county animal shelter. He is a goofball and full of life. Danny does not realize how big he is, so he would excel in a home without small kids or cats. He is a quick learner and would do great with some basic obedience training. Danny would love a family to call his own. Danny is very friendly and very active. He can get over stimulated in the kennels when it is very busy, but settles down after a some exercise. He should be much calmer in a home environment but he will need exercise regularly. Primary Color: Grey Age: 1yrs 3mths 1wks

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Angel was a stray from the Vineland area along with her 8 week old puppy. She was likely simply dumped by her owner. She is a very smart, energetic young adult Malinois. She is sensitive and learns quickly. She is just about housebroken now. Angel will do better in a single pet home however she does love our tester dog Danny. They kennel together often by their choice but they are always fed separately. This breed is not for the faint of heart. Malinois are super intelligent and require a lot of exercise. Videos of amazing Malinois doing outstanding agility and obedience are shot after hundreds of hours of training. Angel does not have that type of drive and will excel as a family companion. She seems to love children and is not good around cats. Since she arrived here, she has spent many, many hours with the Director. He will screen any potential adopters to ensure a good fit. Angel has not shown any aggression towards humans and seems to really like children. If she is not in her kennel when you come in, ask the staff because she has office privileges upstairs and may be with the Director in his office. Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Black Age: 2yrs 3mths 1wks
