Story
Joe: 8 months old 21 lbs. Mixed perfection Breed He can be cautious when something or someone is new, and he was particularly confused about why anyone expected him to pose for pictures. But give Joe a little time to figure you out and the confused little face turns into a sweet, affectionate boy who wants to be your friend. At 8 months old and only 21 lbs., Joe is a wonderfully manageable size and already a very well-rounded young dog. Hes smart, obedient, eager to please and walks nicely on leash. He does great with dogs of all sizes and enjoys playing with them. Cats are okay too, he may be a little unsure at first, but he can coexist with them. And despite his initial caution, Joe is absolutely a lover. Once he knows you're safe, you get the sweet boy his mom already knows is in there. Breed? Obedient Terriernois. Obviously. Joe doesn't need someone to rush him. He needs a person willing to give him a little time, some love and probably a few treats while he conducts his background check. Pass the inspection and congratulations: you've got yourself a best friend

Story
Stack – The Side Eye King Stack has the kind of face that stops you in your tracks. That side eye? Legendary. It’s always giving, “who are you and where are you going?” He’s about 2 years old with that classic rottie coloring — but none of the rumble. Just vibes. Quiet, observant, and a little bit nosy in the best way. Stack shares a space with Sol (yes, that elegant long-legged queen), and he is completely smitten with her. We don’t blame him. He’s got his crate… but prefers to lounge on top of it like it’s his personal penthouse. At 47 lbs, he could use a little help with a diet plan, but honestly, that just means more bonding walks and snack negotiations. The vibe: Calm Funny without trying A little suspicious, a lot lovable Low drama, high personality Stack isn’t loud about it… but he’s the kind of dog that grows on you fast — and then suddenly you can’t imagine your life without him.

Story
With a very heavy heart, I am looking to find a loving and safe new home for my dog. This is not an easy decision at all, because she truly is such a loving and special girl, and I want nothing more than for her to end up somewhere she can be happy, comfortable, and loved. She is house trained, loving, affectionate, and absolutely loves to cuddle. She loves being around her people and has such a sweet personality. She enjoys attention, being close to you, and having someone to snuggle up with. She has so much love to give and would make someone a wonderful companion. She is also good with people and has never shown aggression toward a person. ❤️ The one important thing I want to be completely honest about is that she does not do well with other dogs. she would need to be the only dog in the home. Because of this, I want to make sure she goes to someone who understands this and is willing to give her the proper environment.

Story
Jasper is ready to find his forever family and give them all his unconditional love. He would benefit from a fenced in yard to enjoy time outside with his family and any other dogs his family may have. He is very good with other dogs. Jasper has all the good things adopters are looking for. He is up to date on vaccines and tests, neutered, housebroken and crate trained and dog friendly. (unknown if cat friendly) He was diagnosed with heartworm when we rescued him, but he has completed his treatments and is doing well. He should be HW negative in 4 months or sooner. He is about older (2-4 yr ) so the puppy energy is outgrown. Jasper never learned the commands like sit, paw, down, but we are working on them. He would benefit from some training to learn those things. He does walk nicely on leash. He loves walks and enjoys car rides. He can be a little nervous in new situations but once comfortable he struts his stuff and settles in well. One of the things that makes Jasper so endearing, is that he is a HAPPY dog. He is always happy to greet everyone and other dogs. He is living with his Foster Mom's 2 dogs and enjoys their company and loves to play. He walks with a skip and sometimes it looks like he is smiling. He responds to his name Jasper and just wants to be with his family. If you are interested in learning more about Jasper and meeting him. please email: wjvolunteers@yahoo.com. Our adoption application is at this link: www.wjva.org/adopt
