Story
Freyja is an owner loving high energy dog who can get rowdy and rambunctious. She is house trained and crate trained. She generally has been able to be around other animals all this time even cats. I’m unsure of her exact age due to getting her from someone who no longer wanted her as a puppy due to her playful gentle nature and didn’t have papers for her. She should be about 5 years old. I am looking for a home who is able to accommodate her high energy and want to run and play with a fenced yard.

Story
Meet Lola: A Brilliant, High-Energy Best FriendLola is a vibrant, sweet Black Labrador (< 3 years old) looking for her forever home. She is the ultimate companion—highly intelligent, affectionate, and full of life.Basics:• Social: Loves people, dogs, and cats!• Smart: A brilliant girl who thrives on mental stimulation and attention.• House Habits: Kennel trained, sleeps indoors, and isn't a digger.• Energy: High energy! She needs a secure backyard to run freely.Training & Care:Lola is a strong girl and can pull on walks, so she needs a confident handler. She is a natural protector who's playful unless she senses a change in your demeanor. Like many young Labs, she is a "tough chewer." While she respects furniture, she does have a weakness for pillows! She needs some supervision and plenty of durable chew snacks. Why she’s available:Due to home medical requirements for a family member, we need a dander-free environment.Lola is a loyal, lovable velcro dog who wants to be your best friend.

Story
Meet Chip 💙 Chip came to us as a stray, and it’s clear he hasn’t had an easy road. At just 43 lbs, he’s underweight and in need of some extra care, good meals, and a soft place to land. Despite that, Chip has remained incredibly sweet and people-oriented. He seeks out human connection right away, happily staying close and soaking up attention. Sit down, and he’ll gently place his front paws in your lap, looking for comfort and closeness. It’s hard to miss how much he just wants to feel safe and cared for. Chip has a playful side too—he enjoys toys and will engage, but he’s not over-the-top and settles nicely after some fun. He walks well on leash and allows full handling, making him a great candidate for someone willing to help him rebuild and thrive. Chip is looking for an adult-only home with an experienced adopter who understands dog behavior and can provide the structure and support he needs as he continues to decompress. We are still getting to know his preferences with other dogs. This boy doesn’t need perfection—he needs patience, nourishment, and someone willing to give him the TLC he’s been missing. In return, you’ll get a loyal companion who truly appreciates every bit of love he’s given 💛

Story
Jax is a sweet senior gentleman looking for a soft place to land! At about 10 years old, this handsome boy is currently enjoying life in foster care and showing what a wonderful house guest he can be. He’s house trained, does great relaxing in his crate while his fosters are at work, and greets his people with the happiest, jumpy excitement when they come home. Jax is definitely a food enthusiast — treats are the way to his heart! While toys aren’t really his thing, snacks absolutely are. He knows “sit” and “down”… even if he doesn’t always execute them perfectly. His fosters say he’s a fantastic companion with great manners and an easygoing personality that makes him a joy to have around. Jax is in foster care, to meet him please first submit an adoption application and we’ll contact you!! ahscares.org/adopt Jax ID# 37271

Story
Tyson is a VERY good boy! We give Ty a 10/10 for being such a sweet, happy guy at the shelter. He’s a young, active pup with a big smile and even bigger heart. Before arriving to the shelter, he lived with family members who informed us Tyson previously lived with kids and other dogs, so a similar home could be a great match for him. He’s about 50 lbs, very treat motivated, and absolutely loves to jump up for affection. Meet Tyson at AHS Newark, NJ animal shelter ahscares.org/adopt Tyson ID# 44880
