Story
Cookie is an 8-yearold pure-bred Catahoula Leopard Dog. We adopted her from a rescue near Greenville, NC when she was 1 year old. She had been found abandoned in Louisiana after a Hurricane. She is physically healthy except she recently developed a joint issue with one of her back legs which may require surgery to correct. She is very loving toward my wife and me but very wary of strangers. She enjoys being outside and specially loves chasing squirrels with our other 3 dogs. Cookie has anxiety issues and is especially afraid of gunshots and thunder. She also has a very high prey-attack instinct, and this is unfortunately why we need to re-home her. Recently she attacked our smaller dog; she bit its head and wouldn't let go. It took us several minutes to get her to release, but fortunately the other dog survived. We think she would be suitable for a home with no other dogs, or one that is larger than she is.

Story
Chance is a 93lb lap dog. He loves EVERYBODY! Great natured. Very passive. Gets along great with kids n pets of all ages. We started fostering him for our niece n ended up keeping him. Been with us for 5 years. He's 6. He MUST go to a loving home. He'd rather get love than a treat. Loves to play "retrieve the ball." Sometimes reluctant to bring it back though but he will eventually. Lol If he does bring it back, just say "leave it" n he'll usually drop it. He's house broken and loves to lay around outside in the sun but IS basically an inside dog. He knows general commands, sit, come, go nite nite, n place. (His spot on the couch). Mention "go bye bye" n you'll see excitement. He's chocolate brown with a white angel on his chest. He eats twice a day. 8am n 5pm. We're moving to an apartment n can't have him there. Too big. NOT a good guard dog but will alarm if someone pulls up or knocks. He'd be your own big ole teddy bear. U will NEVER regret adopting this big ole baby.

Story
Warning: High levels of cuteness ahead! Frankie and Cooper are officially accepting applications for a new manager of their very exclusive fan club. Frankie (pictured on right) is a 9 year old, 11.8 pound Yorkie, Dachshund, and Chihuahua Mix who believes walks are one of life’s greatest joys. She struts nicely on a leash, greets the world with confidence, and is always ready to hop into your lap for cuddle duty. Frankie is friendly, outgoing, and very serious about quality snuggle time. Cooper (pictured on left) is a 10 year old, 10.2 pound purebred (we believe) Yorkie who prefers to observe the world before fully participating. He is a bit shy at first, but food is the fastest way to his heart. Cooper loves being outside, keeping an eye on squirrels, and enjoying the fresh air. Once he trusts you, he is a loyal little shadow. These two are a bonded pair and take their partnership seriously. They enjoy cozy naps, especially when tucked under blankets together. They are house trained, vaccinated, altered, and are looking for a calm home with no other dogs. A fenced yard is required so Cooper can patrol for squirrels while Frankie supervises. They have not been around small children and would do best in a quieter home with someone active enough to take them on daily walks. If your life is missing double the love and double the charm, Frankie and Cooper are ready to fill that space. Interested in adopting these two? Submit your no-obligation adoption application at www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com Follow us on Facebook @AlmostHomeDogRescueNC for more updates on Frankie, Cooper, and other adoptable pups!

Story
Meet Bubba—a 1-year-old Lab Mix with a heart as big as his brain! Bubba’s journey hasn’t been the easiest. He spent the first part of his life outdoors in a hoarding situation, with little human guidance or socialization. But don’t let that fool you—Bubba is ready to show the world just how amazing he can be. Bubba is a quick learner and incredibly smart. He’s mastered basic commands in record time and thrives on mental challenges and positive reinforcement. But what makes him truly shine is having a confident, friendly dog by his side. Another dog helps Bubba feel safe, show his playful side, and build confidence as he navigates new experiences. He’s gotten along beautifully with dogs of all sizes, proving he’s a social superstar when introduced properly. Bubba is also cat-friendly, kid-friendly, and shows impeccable manners once he feels secure. He’s crate trained, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. While he still needs someone with patience to continue guiding him through life’s lessons in new environments, he’s the kind of dog who rewards your time and love with unwavering loyalty and affection. Bubba will thrive in a rural or quiet home environment with a fenced-in yard where he can take things at his own pace, explore, and learn that the world is full of safe, happy experiences. Give him the stability, kindness, and companionship he deserves, and Bubba will blossom into the devoted, joyful dog you’ve always dreamed of. Are you ready to welcome Bubba into your family? Live in a quiet environment and have another dog to help show him the ropes? Submit a no-obligation adoption application at www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com. Our adoption coaches can share more about his incredible personality and guide you through meeting him if he’s a good match.

Meet Feller — Your Future Best Friend! Feller might be shy when you first meet him, but he’s a sweetheart who’s full of love once he warms up! He’s making great progress building confidence and after spending much of his life outdoors in a home where he never ventured far. Now, the world is full of exciting new smells, friends, and adventures! This lovable guy is kid-friendly, cat-friendly, and loves playing with other dogs—especially when they’re calm and respectful. Feller might be a little reserved initially but bring out some tasty treats (bacon or beef are his absolute favorites), and you’ve just made a new best friend for life. Feller would thrive in a rural or quiet, patient home with a fenced-in yard where he can take his time to feel safe and bond. With the right family, his gentle, affectionate, and playful personality really shines. A fun, confident 4-legged buddy to show him the ropes would be ideal. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and is ready to find a loving home that will help him continue blossoming into the confident, happy pup he’s meant to be. Story
DIXIE IS A SPECIAL GIRL WITH SPECIFIC NEEDS IN HER NEW HOME. PLEASE READ HER COMPLETE BIO. We want to ensure the very best match for you and for Dixie’s continued growth and success. Let’s see if you cut this sweet girls’ mustard! Dixie is a 1-year-old, 35 lb Lab Mix with the gentlest eyes and the kind of story that sticks with you. Her first year of life was spent in a hoarding situation, kept outdoors and away from all the comforts of home. No walks, no visitors, no normal puppy experiences. Just the same property with little human interaction, day after day. Because of that, Dixie came into rescue with understandable fears and a lot of unanswered questions about humans and life beyond what she knew. And yet… look at her now. Since being rescued, Dixie has been quietly and courageously learning what it means to be safe and joyful. She’s discovered toys (turns out they’re pretty amazing!), learned that treats are, in fact, the greatest invention of all time, and has really started to let her playful personality shine. Watching her confidence grow more each day has been nothing short of magical. She is also now walking phenomenally on a leash — no pulling, just gently by your side. While she can still be a little scared in new situations, she looks to her person for comfort and reassurance, as if asking, “Is this okay?” And when you tell her it is, she believes you. That trust she’s building is incredibly special. Dixie thrives with another calm, social dog who can show her the ropes and reassure her that the world isn’t such a scary place. She takes cues beautifully and finds comfort in having a steady canine friend by her side. Because she has been with her canine family members her entire life, At this time Dixie must be adopted into a home that is willing and able to welcome both she and one of her cousins together (Bubba or Feller, both Lab mixes). Their bond is incredibly important to her continued confidence and emotional well-being, and staying together will allow her to keep thriving and feeling secure as she transitions into her forever home. A calm, quiet home in a rural environment with a securely fenced yard is a must for Dixie — it allows her to play, take care of business and continue building trust at her own pace without fear. She is cat-friendly, kid-friendly, and does wonderfully with other dogs. She’s crate trained (picked it up almost instantly — smart girl!), up to date on vaccinations, and truly blossoming every single day. Dixie isn’t a “hit the ground running” dog — she’s a “watch me bloom” dog. The kind that will make you proud over milestones others might overlook. The kind that will form a deep, unshakeable bond with the person who gives her patience, kindness, and time. If you’re someone with patience, a gentle heart, a calm home environment, and the ability to open your heart and home to both Dixie and her cousin — and you’re ready to meet her needs — Dixie might just be your girl. Are you ready to join Dixie on her journey? Submit a no-obligation adoption application at www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com, and an adoption coach will reach out to share even more of Dixie’s incredible progress. Follow us on Facebook @AlmostHomeDogRescueNC for updates on Dixie and other adoptable pups — but fair warning: once you see her, it’s really hard not to fall in love.
