Story
April is a sweet lap dog, house trained and accustomed to having a fenced in back yard. She is shy to other dogs upon meeting but warms up quickly. Cats, she typically warms up quicker to. She loves playing and neck hugging other animals once they get used to each other. She is 6 years old. Healthy. Up to date on Rabies. Been on Trifexis since she was first able to start taking it. I've had her since she was 5 weeks old, we found her abandoned near a creek bed. Update: Due to Hurricane Helene I lost everything including the house I was currently in. I don't have a place to keep her and couch hopping now. Please someone adopt her. My circumstances due to health have changed and though it's breaking my heart to let her go I can not keep her where I am moving to. Rehoming fee is to insure she goes to a good, loving home.

Story
Doug the Dog was a rescue from a kill shelter and has made himself a full fledged member of the family. Intelligent and affectionate he is the perfect for a home protector in a small family home. He is being rehomed after our son started breeding chickens and getting attached to them as well, and Doug learned his favorite thing might be hunting chickens. He loves being outside and the chicken situation makes it tough for us to give him his time in the yard. It is in his best interest to find him a more appropriate home, regardless of how we may feel about that decision.

Story
River was abandoned in the national forest after we had a major ice/snow storm - myself along with animal control went out to try to get him and he was so terrified - after several hours I was able to gain his trust and he jumped into my car. River is a typical heeler - super super smart, loyal but the typical heeler attitude. This boy knows many commands, sit, stay, lay down, roll over, wait - he will not even eat until you tell him he can. His most favorite thing in the whole world to do is to play ball and he will play for hours and hours. He will need an adopter that has had "heeler" experience as they honestly are a breed of their own. But if you have experience with them - you also know how amazing they are. He would make an excellent hiking partner. Absolutely NO cats - and while he does well with dogs his size that are submissive - he would not mind being the only dog and this dog is going to be loyal to you without a doubt. He is estimated to be 4 years old and weighs 70 pounds. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, current on heartworm prevention, microchipped and is a very well trained dog. If River seems like the perfect dog for you, please go to our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org and fill out one of our adoption applications - that is the first step in our process. We also require references and a home visit. His adoption fee is $250.00

Story
Sweet Buster - Buster was a last minute pull from the shelter because he was getting ready to be euthanized along with several others that had to be caught by animal control after their owner moved into a nursing home and none of them had been socialized or outside the home but out of all of them (we were able to save all 6 of them) Buster was the worst and the shelter could not lay their hands on him. I knew if given the proper time he would come around but he had to do it on his terms and that was never going to happen at a noisy shelter. So we loaded him up and I brought him home to foster. I gave him his space and time but would sit on the floor and talk softly to him - within 3 days he was taking treats out of my hand and by the end of the week he would crawl into my lap and lay upside down and want his belly rubbed. Today I can do anything to the little guy as I earned his trust and he will give that trust out but it will take just the right home that understands that Buster needs to do it on his terms and needs time and patience. The one thing we have learned is that Buster has a fear of men - he has been with me for months and still does not trust my husband but we know that before coming to the rescue there was a male family member that was not so kind to these dogs and Buster has not forgotten that - we are aiming to find him a home where there are no men in the house which we have done for a couple of our dogs over the years so we know it is possible. We feel like putting him in a home with a male figure is only going to make him stay on edge all the time and that is no way to live. He is a small little guy at 6 pounds and he is estimated to be a little over a year old. He has made leaps and bounds with his housebreaking but will need consistency and patience when going to a new place. He loves loves loves his toys and his cuddle round bed. He loves other animals and would benefit from another dog in learning the ropes. Buster will also require a fenced in yard as we feel that is best for him. While he has been around a child in his foster home and after time has done well - we do recommend no small children Buster is neutered, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, current on heartworm prevention and flea/tick medication. His adoption fee is 250.00. If you are interested in Buster, please go to our website and fill out our adoption application - we will not set any meet and greets up until that application is filled out. We do require vet references and a home visit. Buster honestly is one amazing little dog and once you earn his trust - he gives you his whole heart and he is a total little love. He loves to be held like a baby and loves to have that belly rubbed. A lot of heart went into rehabbing this little guy so please read the description before filling out the application. We do not set our dogs up for failure and that is why we have certain requirements as they are with us 24/7 in our homes, so we know what would be the perfect fit for them.
