Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please click on Celeste's photo in order to read all about her and the home we are seeking for her placement.Celeste is a total love, she adores her humans and aims to please.  She loves to wrestle with her canine pals, and would adore another dog in the home to play with.  Her favorite activity is to go on walks and hikes, so she definitely requires an active home that will supply regular exercise.  Her second favorite activity is fetch, so sessions of retrieving between exploration sessions is a winning combo for her in life.  But don't worry, one this girl has an outing- she's all about the cuddle sessions too- fair warning- she's a total couch and bed hog...  She lives with cats in her foster home, but does best with a confident cat who will not be timid in her presence.  Only confident, and dog savvy cats would work with Celeste- she requires boundaries where cats are concerned.   Celeste would do best in a home where her humans are not gone for long hours.  She does require a fenced in yard (physical fencing, no invisible fences please).  All humans in the home should be 8 years of age, or older.  She has been spayed and microchipped, and is current on preventatives and vaccines.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 8, 2023, 9:34 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ira is a gentle and sweet boy; he would love a home of his own where he would be treated like the prince he is.  He came to CARE in horrible condition and quickly learned to love the good life.  He is a blind and mostly deaf senior boy, estimating his age between 9 and 11.  He has a lot of life left to enjoy.  While he does sleep a lot, when he is awake, he is busy.  He will need a family that is home more than they are not.  He enjoys extra-long walks and time outside.  Ira requires frequent professional grooming every 6–8 weeks.  Due to Ira’s blindness, he cannot be left unsupervised outside (EVER!).   He is super smart and will quickly learn his way around his new home. The key is not to move his things, ever.  He will need a family that is able to carry him inside and out when he needs to go.  He will weigh around 20 pounds when he is fully healthy.  Due to Ira’s small size all children in the home must be at least 8 years old.  Ira will be placed in a home within 60 miles of Pittsboro.  Ira has been neutered and microchipped and is up to date on all vaccines.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 8, 2023, 9:34 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Stella is a super sweet and gentle girl.  She loves pets and cuddles.  If you love on her, she is your best friend, she absolutely believes that she is a lap dog!!   Stella likes to do a perimeter search every time she goes outside, so she will need a physical fence that is attached to the home where she will be safe following her Pyr instincts.   As soon as she does her routine outside, she wants to be inside with the family.   She does not appreciate being left outside for extended periods of time by herself.  Stella is appropriate with kids, but due to her size, any kids in the home should be at least 8 years old.  Stella is very calm inside, she does love our many daily walks, but once inside she likes to curl up on the nearest dog bed, couch or vacant lap.  She enjoys her canine foster siblings but would do fine as an only dog too.  She adores people!   Stella was heartworm positive when she entered CARE, she has completed her treatment and is doing well.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 8, 2023, 9:34 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please be sure to read Mae's bio before applying for her.Mae's life began in an unsupportive and neglectful home.  She was confiscated from her original home and brought into a county shelter.  One animal on the property had been tethered and found starved to death, and Mae was one of several other dogs that were impounded.  She was so emaciated that she wasn't far from death herself.  Mae has learned many new things in a loving and supportive foster home, and her foster family has learned a lot about her- and where she would be most comfortable.    Mae would do best in a home with another dog, she loves to wrestle and play.  Another dog her size or larger would do best, since she can be an exuberant play companion.  She completely ignores cats, so having kitties in the home would be ok too.  She definitely requires a secured fenced in yard (no underground fences please) and a home that has the capability to utilize gates to keep her safe until she has had the chance to become acclimated to her new environment.  She can be a bit nervous with new people, but she warms up fast.  She would do best in a home where all children are 12 and over, since she has had limited exposure to children.  Mae still carries memories of her past, and the one detail she is sure of is that her previous tormentor was a bald man- she is terrified of bald men,  men with hair do not seem to be an issue.  She requires an experienced family that will give her the time she needs to get comfortable and blossom into an excellent companion.    Mae is leash trained, house trained (though rainy days can be challenging), crate trained, and she rides well in a car.  She has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccines.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 8, 2023, 9:34 pm
