Story
Meet Otto Jones — a 12&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old, 11 lb. miniature Poodle mix who is as adorable as his name suggests!   Quick Facts: Name: Otto Jones Breed: Miniature Poodle Mix Age: 12 years old Weight: 11 lbs. House-Trained: Yes, but has occasional accidents (will wear a belly band) Crate-Trained: No – but does use a gated pen in his foster home Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Not tested, likely fine Good with Kids: Not tested, likely fine with older, respectful kids Energy Level: Low Fence Required: No Special Needs: Otto Jones has cataracts in his left eye and partially visually impaired. He also seems to be a little hard of hearing. He is currently Heartworm Positive (which is treatable) and all treatment will be paid by CrisisDogsNC even if he is adopted prior to completing treatment. (Heartworm treatment includes 30 days of Doxycycline (“slow kill” method due to his age).   About Otto Jones’s Breed: Our best guess is that Otto Jones is a miniature poodle mixed breed. Miniature Poodles are known for their intelligence, affectionate nature, and gentle, people&#226&#128&#145oriented temperament, making them wonderful companions for families and seniors alike. They tend to bond closely with their humans and enjoy being part of daily routines, whether that’s relaxing on the couch, going for short walks, or simply following their person from room to room. Their bright minds and sensitive personalities often make them responsive, loyal, and eager to please.   An ideal home for a Mini Poodle is one that offers steady companionship, a calm environment, and gentle structure. They thrive with people who enjoy spending time with their dogs and can provide consistent routines, light exercise, and lots of affection. Because they’re social and emotionally attuned, they do especially well in homes where they’re not left alone for long periods and can enjoy the comfort of being near their favorite humans.   What to Love about Otto Jones: Despite being a senior, Otto still has a surprising pep in his step and enjoys short walks, exploring the yard, and being part of whatever his people are doing. His happiest moments are spent snuggled beside his person or curled up in his cozy dog bed. He loves belly rubs, being held, and soaking up affection — especially from his foster dad, whom he follows around like a devoted little shadow!   Otto has slightly impaired hearing and vision, including a cataract in his left eye, but it doesn’t slow him down or dampen his cheerful spirit. He’s very food&#226&#128&#145motivated, loves treats, and could chew on bones all day if you let him! He’s almost fully house trained, though he still wears diapers for the occasional accident, and consistent potty breaks help him stay on track. He does wonderfully with the other dogs in his foster home and fits right in. He hasn’t met cats or kids yet, but would likely do well with calm, respectful children.   He’s not a fan of being crated and would do best in a gated area with a comfy bed when left alone. At night, he’s happy to sleep in your bed or in his own bed right beside you! Otto is a lower&#226&#128&#145energy gentleman due to his age, but he still enjoys leisurely walks and is great on a leash. He is currently heartworm positive, and the rescue will fully cover his treatment — even if he’s adopted before it’s completed.   Otto Jones’s Outstanding Highlights: 12&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old, 11 lb miniature Poodle mix with a sweet, gentle temperament Still has a little pep in his step and enjoys short walks and exploring Loves snuggling, belly rubs, and being right beside his person, especially his foster dad Slightly impaired hearing and vision (blind in one eye) but still gets around confidently Very food&#226&#128&#145motivated and loves treats and chewing bones Almost fully house trained; wears diapers for occasional accidents and benefits from consistent potty breaks Does great with other dogs and would likely do well with calm, respectful kids and possibly cats Not crate&#226&#128&#145friendly; does best in a gated area with a comfy bed when left alone Sleeps happily in your bed or in his own bed beside you Lower&#226&#128&#145energy senior who just wants companionship and affection Currently heartworm positive, and his treatment will be fully covered by the rescue   Otto Jones is a gentle, loving, loyal little companion who wants nothing more than to spend his golden years by someone’s side, soaking up love and offering endless sweetness in return.   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Meet Murphy – A Happy-Go-Lucky Guy Full of Energy and Charm Quick Facts: Breed: Terrier mix Age: 3 years Weight: 20 lbs House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes (but can be left alone without a crate) Good with Dogs: Yes – enjoys playing with other dogs Good with Cats: No cats Good with Kids: Not tested Energy Level: High Fence Required: No – but needs plenty of exercise Special Traits: Toy lover, playful personality, wiry coat that sheds Why You’ll Love Murphy: Friendly with everyone he meets Loves toys and interactive play Great with other dogs Snuggly when it’s time to relax Happy, upbeat personality Full of fun and enthusiasm About Murphy’s Breed: Terrier mixes are often energetic, intelligent, and full of personality. They thrive in active homes where they can burn off energy through exercise, play, and training. With structure and engagement, they become incredibly loyal and entertaining companions who bring a lot of joy into everyday life. Murphy’s Story & Personality: Murphy is a cheerful, happy-go-lucky little guy who seems to approach life with a wagging tail and a playful spirit. He absolutely loves toys, playtime, and spending time with other dogs. He has a high energy level and will do best with an adopter who enjoys an active lifestyle and can provide him with plenty of exercise and enrichment. While he does not require a fenced yard, he will benefit greatly from regular walks, play sessions, and activities to help channel his enthusiasm. Murphy walks on leash but is still working on improving his leash manners, so continued training will help him become an even better walking companion. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys playing with them, though he does have a more dominant play style. A dog sibling who enjoys active play would be a great match. However, Murphy does need a home without cats. Murphy has a wiry terrier coat and does shed quite a bit, so regular brushing will help keep his coat healthy and manage loose hair. Despite his energetic side, Murphy also enjoys quiet moments and loves a good snuggle session once he’s had a chance to burn off some energy. Murphy’s Ideal Home: Active adopter or family Home committed to regular exercise and playtime Someone willing to continue leash training Dog-friendly household (no cats) A family that enjoys both play and cuddle time Ready for a Fun, Energetic Companion? Murphy is the kind of dog who brings enthusiasm, laughter, and affection into everyday life. If you’re looking for a playful companion who will keep life exciting and still curl up beside you at the end of the day, Murphy could be your perfect match. Story
Meet Petunia — an 8 lb, 3 month old possible Husky mix (little nugget) who is as adorable as she is sweet! Quick Facts: Name: Petunia Breed: Husky Mix Age: 3 months old Weight: 8 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes – best with dog savvy school aged kids Energy Level: Medium Fence Required: No About Petunia’s Breed: Our best guess is that Petunia is Husky mixed breed. Huskies are energetic, intelligent, and social dogs known for their striking looks and strong working dog instincts. They were originally bred for endurance and cold climates, which is why they tend to be active, alert, and happiest when they have a job or plenty of stimulation. An ideal home for a Husky is one that can provide regular exercise, mental enrichment, and structure. They thrive with active families who enjoy outdoor activities and can offer consistent training. Because of their thick coats and high energy, they do best in cooler environments and in households prepared for shedding, play, and lots of companionship. What to Love about Petunia: Petunia is an easy puppy with a fun, playful spirit and a love for toys, especially when she can gallop around shaking her favorite stuffies! After playtime, she’s happiest being scooped up for cuddles, giving tiny hugs and kisses like the affectionate little girl she is. Petunia sleeps through the night, enjoys being held, and has that perfect mix of spunk and snuggle! She’s still working through all the normal puppy things — potty training, leash learning, and a bit of mouthy play — but she’s already crate trained and does well being left alone for short periods. Petunia has been wonderful with dogs, cats, and every human she meets, and she does great with dog savvy kids who understand puppy energy. Petunia’s Poignant Highlights: • 3 month old, 8 lb tiny nugget with the cutest puppy personality • Playful, toy loving girl who gallops around shaking her stuffies • Sleeps through the night and loves to be held, hugged, and kissed • Great with dogs, cats, and dog savvy kids • Already crate trained and does well being left alone for short periods • Working on potty training, leash training, and normal puppy mouthing • Super cuddly, affectionate, and happiest in your arms • Perfect for a family ready to enjoy all the fun (and cuteness) of a puppy If you’re ready for a playful, cuddly, toy shaking sweetheart who will melt into your arms, Petunia is the perfect puppy to grow up with your family! Story
Meet Nola – A Gentle, Smart Girl Who Loves to Run, Cuddle, and Be Reassured Quick Facts: Breed: German Shepherd / Husky Mix Age: 2 years Weight: 45 lbs House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: No, but does well left alone without one Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes (older, school-aged kids because she can be skittish) Energy Level: Moderate Fence Required: Yes – minimum 5 ft recommended Special Traits: Smart, affectionate, athletic, gentle, loves reassurance and lap time Why You’ll Love Nola: Sweet, affectionate girl who loves being close and cuddling in your lap Smart and eager to learn, picks up new things quickly Friendly with adults, kids, dogs, and cats A true "girl's girl" who loves being around feminine energy Enjoys walks and outdoor time but is also happy relaxing on the couch Gentle, loving nature with a playful side once she feels comfortable About Nola’s Breed Mix: German Shepherd/Husky mixes are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and athleticism. They tend to be very people-oriented, enjoy having a purpose, and thrive with both mental and physical stimulation. Nola reflects the best of both breeds—smart and capable, yet affectionate, gentle, and deeply connected to her people. Nola’s Story & Personality: Nola is a loving, sensitive girl who bonds closely with her people. While she can be a little shy at first, she warms up quickly with gentle reassurance and kind guidance. Once she feels safe, her affectionate personality truly shines—she loves to be loved on, seeks closeness, and enjoys both playtime and downtime. She prefers female energy and would love to find a home where she can be a true "girl's girl". She can be fine with men, but prefers being around women. She’s mostly leash trained and enjoys going on walks, but she also appreciates a cozy couch session afterward. Nola is very smart and eager to learn, making her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys interacting and engaging with their dog. Because she can jump a 4-foot fence, a secure 5-foot or taller fenced yard is important so she can safely run, explore, and burn off energy. With the right setup, Nola will thrive as a happy, balanced companion. Nola’s Ideal Home: A home with a secure fenced yard (5 ft or taller) where she can safely run A family or individual who enjoys both walks and relaxed cuddle time Someone patient and reassuring who will help her continue building confidence (she thrives on female energy!) A home that values affection, connection, and gentle guidance Other pets are welcome—she does well with dogs and cats Ready to Give Nola the Love She Deserves? Nola is a beautiful blend of intelligence, gentleness, and affection.
