Story
With eyes as golden as her name, Honey is a gentle soul who’s looking for a calm, patient home where she can truly feel safe and loved. Originally found as a stray, Honey has known the uncertainty of life on her own—but through it all, she’s remained respectful, thoughtful, and quietly affectionate.Honey spent a few months in a home where she got along well with a younger male dog, but struggled to bond with a dominant female dog. She’s shown she can be a wonderful companion with the right match and would likely do best as the only dog or with a calm, respectful canine friend. Honey has also shown some resource guarding around food, but she’s incredibly polite and will sit and wait patiently when asked—she just prefers her meals in peace and her space respected.Because of her sensitivity and desire for a low-stress environment, Honey is looking for a home without young children. She thrives in quiet moments, loves being outdoors, and walks beautifully on a leash. She already knows several commands, is muzzle trained, and is eager to please the people she trusts.Honey may not be the dog who leaps into your lap right away—but give her time, and you’ll discover a deeply loyal friend with a heart as golden as her eyes. She’s sweet, soulful, and so ready to find her forever. If you believe in second chances and the quiet magic of earning a dog’s trust, Honey will reward you with a love that’s deep, steady, and absolutely priceless.More information? Story
At 3:30 in the morning, when the world was quiet and the temperature had dropped to 20 degrees, Anna was left behind. Dumped in our parking lot alongside her senior sister, Elsa. No goodbye. No explanation. Just two older girls standing in the cold, waiting for someone who never came back.Anna is a senior dog who has clearly known love before. She didn’t arrive angry or aggressive—she arrived confused. Gentle. Clinging closely to Elsa, the only familiar thing she had left. They stayed pressed together for warmth, comfort, and safety, because when everything else was taken from them, they still had each other.Despite what they endured, Anna is incredibly sweet. She seeks out attention with soft eyes and quiet hope, leaning in for affection like she’s afraid it might disappear. She doesn’t ask for much—just a warm place, a gentle hand, and the chance to spend her days beside her sister, where she feels safe.Anna and Elsa are bonded and must stay together. They have already lost everything once. We won’t let them lose each other too.Senior dogs are so often overlooked, but Anna has so much love left to give. She deserves comfort, dignity, and peace—not another cold night wondering why she wasn’t enough.More information? Call Marion Area Humane Society at 740-389-6548 or email at manager@mahspets.org

Story
How stunning is Astrid? She’s shy and isn’t sure what to make of all of this, but we’re getting to know her a little more each day. She’s a bit larger than she looks in photos, but she’s not a huge dog. Astrid is going to need a little TLC to help her build some confidence, but there’s a wonderful dog in there waiting to show herself. Due to her fear/jitteriness, she would probably be more comfortable in a home with older kids maybe 10+, and she’s open to meeting dogs as well. Interested in meeting Astrid? Let us know!

Story
Meet Cheech — a tiny bundle of sweetness with a heart three sizes bigger than her little paws.Cheech is the kind of dog who makes you automatically talk in a baby voice without even realizing it. She’s soft, cuddly, and perfectly sized for laps, couches, and being carried around like the precious cargo she believes she is (and honestly… she’s right). This little lady has wonderful manners for such a small pup. She walks beautifully on a leash, sticking close like your loyal sidekick, and she rides in the car like a seasoned road-trip professional — no drama, no chaos, just peaceful passenger princess energy.Cheech is also a social butterfly with other dogs. She came to the shelter with four canine friends, so she’s used to having buddies around and would likely love a home with another pup to snuggle or play with. She’s affectionate without being overwhelming and happy just being near her people. Her favorite things include: • Warm laps • Soft blankets • Gentle strolls • Car rides with the windows cracked just enough for sniffingCheech isn’t loud, pushy, or demanding — she’s the quiet little shadow that follows you from room to room and curls up beside you at the end of the day. The kind of dog who fits into your life effortlessly and makes everything feel a little cozier. If you’re looking for a sweet, cuddly companion who travels well, walks nicely, and gets along with other dogs, Cheech is ready to be your tiny best friend.More information? Story
Say hi to Figgy Pudding… aka “Figgy Piggy” and “Figlet”! Figgy is a professional toy hoarder. She patrols the yard like a slightly overweight mall cop making sure every toy is exactly where she left it: in her mouth. Or under her belly. Or buried in the couch cushions. She’s friendly with kids and big dogs only—small dogs and cats? Absolutely not. Figgy didn’t get this size by sharing snacks with pipsqueaks.Looking for a canine roommate with the personality of a diva, the body of a bean bag, and the soul of a squeaky-toy-slaying warrior?Figgy Pudding is here to roll into your life and steal your heart (and probably your dinner).More information?
