Story
Jax was recently returned from a trial adoption. He was a bit more puppy-ish than the adopter was looking for, so he’s back on the market! He is NOT potty trained but we’re hopeful that he will catch on quickly. Jax is only a year old and he’s fairly small (less than 40 pounds). He LOVES attention and having someone around him. He seems to like other dogs and he passed his cat test. We also think he could live with kids. If you’d like to add Jax to your family, let us know! 2252 Richland RoadMarion, OH 43302Park at the humane society next doorMonday-Friday 12-6, Saturday 12-4

Story
Say hello to Harley! Yes, like the motorcycle!Harley is a young man with lots of energy and love to give. He hasn’t been with us very long, so we’re learning what we can about him. But so far we can tell he hasn’t had much training, and he hates to be alone. He loves his long walks with the volunteers or playing in the yard. Harley was found on White Oaks Rd and jumped into someone's car for safety and warmth. Nobody came looking for him and we hate to think that he was forgotten about. Harley is open to meeting other dogs and kids! Please come meet this boy during our open hours Mon-Fri 12 to 6 and Saturday 12 to 4.

Story
At 3:30 in the morning, when the world was quiet and the temperature had dropped to 20 degrees, Anna was left behind. Dumped in our parking lot alongside her senior sister, Elsa. No goodbye. No explanation. Just two older girls standing in the cold, waiting for someone who never came back.Anna is a senior dog who has clearly known love before. She didn’t arrive angry or aggressive—she arrived confused. Gentle. Clinging closely to Elsa, the only familiar thing she had left. They stayed pressed together for warmth, comfort, and safety, because when everything else was taken from them, they still had each other.Despite what they endured, Anna is incredibly sweet. She seeks out attention with soft eyes and quiet hope, leaning in for affection like she’s afraid it might disappear. She doesn’t ask for much—just a warm place, a gentle hand, and the chance to spend her days beside her sister, where she feels safe.Anna and Elsa are bonded and must stay together. They have already lost everything once. We won’t let them lose each other too.Senior dogs are so often overlooked, but Anna has so much love left to give. She deserves comfort, dignity, and peace—not another cold night wondering why she wasn’t enough.More information? Call Marion Area Humane Society at 740-389-6548 or email at manager@mahspets.org

Story
Charlie just turned 3 years old — a birthday she spent, once again, behind the walls of the shelter she’s called home for almost a year and a half. 🥀She’s a beautiful Rottweiler/Retriever mix with the softest eyes and the sweetest soul… but you’ll have to earn the chance to see that side of her. Charlie struggles with meeting new people — the world hasn’t always been kind to her — but if someone could just give her a few chances, visit her a couple of times, sit quietly nearby and let her heart unfold on its own… they’d find the most loyal, gentle, loving dog waiting underneath the fear. 💔Once she trusts you, she’s pure sunshine — a snuggly, kiss-giving, tail-wagging angel who will follow you anywhere. She walks beautifully on a leash, rides calmly in the car, and loves to stretch her legs running around the yard before curling up in a soft bed or a pile of blankets. She doesn’t care much for toys — she just wants love, safety, and someone to finally stay. 🐾Charlie has done well with some dogs here, but she takes her time getting comfortable — both with people and other pets. She’d do best in a quiet, low-traffic home with no young kids or cats. She’s a staff and volunteer favorite because we’ve seen the real her — the dog that greets you with kisses, melts into your lap, and looks at you like you’re her entire world. 🌙We keep telling her that her person is out there. That someone will see past the nerves and realize what a once-in-a-lifetime dog she truly is. But with every day that passes, she waits a little longer.Maybe you’re the one she’s been waiting for. 🖤More information?
