He has so much fun playing with the toys. Sammy is so brave and embraces every day to the fullest! There's a lesson there for all of us. This dear dog has a heart full of love he is always ready to share. He adores being petted and loved on and will even crawl onto your lap. Sammy is the very best cuddle buddy! Story
“Dogs are small rays of light caught on earth for a short time to brighten our days.” This reminds us of Henry! Why we love him: He is a senior dog with plenty of pep in his step! Henry is 12 years old and weighs 29 pounds. His sweet smile will truly touch your heart. Henry has a heart full of love and a tail that wags with delight. He's a loyal and affectionate companion who will thrive in a calm, loving environment. Henry prefers the company of humans over other dogs and would do best as the sole pet in a serene household. Henry recently spent time in a foster home and his foster Mom reports: "He is 12 Going on 2! Forget what you think you know about 12-year-old dogs. Henry is a geriatric goofball with all the wisdom of a senior and all the energy of a toddler! He recently aced his foster stay and is ready for retirement life on your couch. Henry never fully outgrew his adorable puppy "mouthiness," but since he is roughly 80% toothless, his enthusiasm is gummy! He's learned much more self control with consistency from our volunteers and is blossoming into such a gentleman! Don’t let his age fool you! Henry has young-dog energy and loves daily outdoor adventures. He needs a secure yard for daylight fun, but then transitions into professional napper mode every night. Henry has a special, deep fondness for kids because they share his youthful spirit! He does need to be the only pet in the home—no cats or other dogs. Henry believes he is the only masterpiece you'll ever need! Other fun facts about Henry: He is road trip ready and rides fantastic in the car. Henry is completely silent in a crate and considers it his personal hotel room. He adores treats and training him is a delicious negotiation! Since Henry was neutered late in life, he sometimes marks new spots out of habit. We’ve got you covered! We’ll send him home with a generous pack of belly bands to help him settle in mess-free. Henry is a gentle, joyous old soul wrapped in the personality of an 8-month-old puppy. He is ready to retire from shelter life and become your permanent, toothless shadow." Another foster observes: "After grabbing a pup cup on the way home, Henry immediately set out to explore every inch of the house and yard. He drank from the pond, then decided to go all-in and take a dip. He played ball with with my daughter, scooted his butt right onto my son's lap, and made it very clear that he adores kids. Every time they got near him, he lit up like a Christmas tree. Happy-go-lucky goofball about sums it up. Henry loves treats and soft beds. When it's time to settle down, he's perfectly quiet in both a crate and an indoor pen." One of our volunteers says: “He’s one of my favorite walks. Henry's personality just makes me smile every time I get to take him out!" If you can open your home and your heart to this free spirited senior, Henry would love to spend his golden years with you. We are so grateful to Joel Alexander for his beautiful photos of our dogs. E-mail ccacangels@yahoo.com for more information! Please come visit! We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
